Baxter played a game for Rangers on a Wednesday night away against Partick Thistle in 1963, in torrential rain, no grass on the pitch just mud. It was the greatest game Ive ever seen anyone play. It was incredible to see
That Scotland team! Not qualifying for the '66 World Cup was a real missed opportunity. Would have been the 2nd best supported team as well. Denis Law said missing out was the biggest regret of his career.
Look at the formation and how the players played. Going forward. Running the game from midfield not tippytppy defenders. Getting the strikers on the ball. Taking men on. Real football.
A very skilful player in his day. He could entertain the crowd with his ball skills but shockingly was forever losing possession. Even on this clip see how many times his passes were wayward. His skills sadly didnt migrate well into the English league where he failed to deliver at the higher level. I guess Rangers v Raith Rovers is not the same as Nottingham Forest v Manchester United and he just wasn't good enough.
He used to get pished on the Friday night before a game at Sunderland and Nottingham Forest. His career was over 4 years later. He was to casual and he wasted his talent.

Thanks. Not exactly Maradona Live is Life, but that's very much a Scotland player toying with England.

Do you think you could make a video on Billy Bremner?
In his own words his finest Wembley performance wasn't 1967 but 1963.
I like the music at the end. Who is it by?

He’s here he’s there he’s every(,@&£:;) where Jim Baxter -we will not see his again I fear
What, you mean when Bremner boots it out of the ground and back to Westminster?

We want high quality Franco Baresi interventions
Baxter couldn't lace Willie Hamiltons boots.
England had 9 men?
BAXTER...no more need be written on that day
Best player. Rangers. Had better proud. To. Watch. Him
That looked like a league two game to me. Positional naivevity , no closing down.....its like 2024 Man United.😊😊😊😊
Clear idiot whose only virtue is living in 21st century.
Clueless comment, generations have changed, much fitter today, judge on how soccer played then
no keepy up that I can see.
it's at the very end, after the 14th minute
It's the game when England had nine fit men........well done scotland..😂😂
Good team
