- How the United States Department of Agriculture can help Historically Underserved Farmers: Farm Service Agency (FSA) case study
This interview is based on a fictional couple, Eduardo and Ann, who want to start a small operation farm in Maryland. Neith Little and Leah Petersen discuss the USDA Farm Service Agency, and how it can assist Eduardo and Ann, specifically through loans. The different types of loans available and required eligibility are discussed, such as previous experience and time frames. The switch of loans when land goes from rented to purchased is also explained, along with how the FSA extends support to beginning and minority farmers. The video ends with a discourse about how farmers can build their farm plans to eventually become eligible for loans if they are not currently.
