"Except the current global warming isn't caused by natural cycles but human activity". Not all scientists believe that. Of course, the controlled media claims the preceding is gospel. A little detective work reveals a motive... Climate change is an excuse for tax revenues in the form of carbon taxes. At one time there were trees in Antarctica. During that time, mankind had a near-zero impact on the environment. I prefer a warmer world and animals can adapt.

Maybe it has something to do with the depletion of the Rain Forest. I always that Greenland was all a huge chuck of ice, if it melted on the top, like an ice cube in a glass, it would simply flip over, and we would have more ice. But I see that there is land underneath it all. This video is amazing! I hope we find out before we can't fix it. We need it intact.

Not only the depletion of forest, but also the many people that moved into the arctic and built homes on the ice. Seems nobody thought about how much heat humans radiate and that of our homes. these homes must be heated and kept warm along with preparations of meals everyday. Add also the many businesses that operate in the arctic and you have a heat source that will cause problems even without global warming. When you look at the models of warming and time you'll find that people moving into the arctic also matches the models of ice melting. People shouldn't be living there.

So if it melts at 300 cubic km per year and continues at this rate then the calculation is that sea level would rise by 0.8mm per year. Oh no. Thats terrifying. I need to pay more tax immediately, not because paying more tax helps but because then I feel I will be averting the global disaster that in 100 years the sea could have risen by 8cm. Someone who could have stood on the beach in our time would have to stand on a pebble not to get their shoes wet. That is, unless we have hoverboards by then.

    • @bimmjim
      @bimmjim 9 ปีที่แล้ว

KowBoySpace That 300 cubic kilometers is an average up to 2012 only. Now in 2015, there are three more years of data and the rate of melting is accelerating. (Learn about accelerating rates.) The Arctic is heating up faster and faster each year. The ocean is also heating, causing thermal expansion. Also watch for the complete disappearance of Arctic Sea Ice, in Sept 2015 or 2016. Can you say Albedo? Reduced Albedo causes more heating. .
This year, 2015, there has been a large increase in Tundra fires in Siberia and Forest Fires all around the Arctic region. These put yet more CO2 into the atmosphere. They also deposit soot on top of the Greenland Ice Mass, causing it to melt even faster again.
And then there are the Methane Clathrates. Did you know that this carbon sink holds three times as much carbon as all the oil and coal reserves in the world? And methane, when it is released, has 150 times the global warming effect of CO2. And the level of CH4 (methane) in the atmosphere is rising. Did you know that, knownothingpspacedoutboy?
      Get a clue, dipshit.

This video is very misleading. It implies that the ice sheet is being warmed from the atmosphere. The Greenland Ice Sheet Project II (GISP II) measured the ice temperature from the surface to ~ 3,000 meters (~ 10,000 feet) below the surface. The temperature data shows that the ice sheet is being heated from below due to geothermal heating and not from above. The temperature at ~ 3,000 feet below surface is warmer (-9 deg C) than near the top (-32 deg C). The surface heating has no effect on the ice temperature below 100 meters. So global warming is not the cause of the ice sheet heating. It is geothermal heating which we have no control over. Even if we could eliminate atmospheric heating the ice sheet would continue to warm from below.
By the way, the rise in ice sheet elevation of 4 meter (12 feet) in central Greenland is not all due to snow accumulation alone. It is mostly due to the change in ice density from geothermal heating.

This video is from 2014, and it is out of date.
Most years, Greenland loses an average of about 200 Gt of ice. (That's not much.) But it lost *_NONE_* in either of the last two glaciological years. In other words, the apparently "acceleration" proved to be just a fluctuation. *_That's why you no longer hear people talking about Greenland's "accelerating" ice loss_* -- because it isn't accelerating.
On average, sea-level is rising, globally. But the rate is so slow that in many places it's exceeded by local factors, like erosion, sedimentation, and vertical land motion. That's why *_sea-level is falling in some places,_* like Stockholm:
    sealevel.info/MSL_graph.php?id=Stockholm&boxcar=1&boxwidth=3
Globally, the rate of sea-level rise averages about 1.5 mm/year, and that rate hasn't accelerated in nine decades. Here's a particularly high-quality, 113-year measurement record, from a near-ideal location in the the mid-Pacific:
    sealevel.info/1612340_Honolulu_vs_CO2_annot3.png
    sealevel.info/MSL_graph.php?id=Honolulu
That's proof that manmade climate change is having a negligible effect on sea-level.

the polar ice melting and the climate warming is a very speculative matter despite the ice core samples and the satellite images that global warming proponents are claiming to show. as far as i know the oldest data collected is about 300 000 years old which in the long term is not that much thus meaning that scientists have seen a scene or two of the whole movie and if you ask any critic they would say it is hardly enough to make an objective review...

Well now the ice is growing again and fast since 1st sept 2016 ice has been growing at 3.5 billion tons a day that is 50% faster than normal so the 19 year pause in warming is over. we now cool faster than ever recorded so sea levels will soon fall again as we cool fast over the next 15 years

1st statement is wrong, Greenland is not the World's largest island, Australia is, in fact Australia is unique, it is the largest island, a continent and a single country all in one. If these alarmists cannot get the basic information correct, how can anyone believe their dire predictions of doom and gloom?

Wonderful natural ebb and flow of life on planet earth!
It will be great for Greenland to have some land that they can use and discover.
As in time past, people will move inland and make their homes. Tough shit on those who think they own Earth as real estate and demand rent. In real life, people move freely and they don't stay on the shore to be drowned by rising waters. Weather changes, deal with it.

An interglacial period is a geological interval of warmer global average temperature lasting thousands of years. We're at the tail end of an Ice Age...ice melting during an interglacial period should not be a surprise to anyone, especially a climatologist. It has happened many times before in geologic history, and it will undoubtedly happen again. Find some other way to get funding..may I suggest finding early investors in a co-op Angus cattle ranch in the Greenland interior?

Greenland receives more snow than the amount that it loses in the summer and there is an equilibrium. It takes a lot of warming to break that. Furthermore, most of the ice that is lost, is because of calving and other natural processes . In places like the Arctic sea, warming is a much more pressing issue. I should have said that climate change does currently not have a huge impact on Greenland even with the warm temperatures in recent years.

    • @KeVIn-pm7pu

@@kaspernilsson3663 "Greenland receives more snow than the amount that it loses" not the last few decades.
"It takes a warming to break that " - We have a warming of around 1 degree in global temperatur. as this warmth is not everywhere the same the polar region have a increase of around 6-8 degrees.
"most of the ice that is lost is because of calving..." yes it is. scientific papers agree with you on that.
"i should have said that climate change does currently not have a huge impact on Greenland" - science disagrees with you on that. There is a study about this matter published in 2020. The mean of 2003 to 2018 is about 235 +- 29 Gigatons per year.

My relation is humanity with all countries of the world. Last and final messenger Mohammad was sent to the humanity to guide them to the right path -- path of Almighty Allah.
Prophet Jesus was also a prophet of Allah sent to Bani Israel. We believe in Jesus as a prophet of Allah. He was not God and never claimed the dignity.
It is Paul who diverted the true followers of prophet Jesus to Trinity.
Trinity is not true teaching of Prophet Jesus. Jesus was a Muslim
taught Islam and to worship Allah only.
Europeans need to know this fact.
It is in theirs broadest interests in this world and in Hereafter too.
If you spare half an hour daily and read, study and research the Holy Qur'an you will know the fact that is hidden from your eyes.
