Such a great video!! I had no idea some of these great players weren’t higher picks in the draft! Crazy!!! Always learning interesting facts in your videos!! 🙌🙌
Hey champs, awesome vid on our top 10 draft picks over the years. My fav players were Goldsack-loved him at the pies & Swanny-one of the best ever players of his time at Collingwood. Of the new players, love Jaicos and Beau, so influential & important to our side these last couple of years, let's hope they can keep on going & have another huge year in 2025 💪💪💪💪🖤🤍🖤🤍
Yep. Josh is probably one of the best and most underrated (due to the constant comparisons to his brother) players. If you watch his work ethic week to week, it's hard not to say that, maybe, he will be one of the best Collingwood players of the era.
It's good you mentioned Hawthorn. They have given us the most trouble and have an incredible record against us over more than 4 decades now. I've read their history and it dates back to John Kennedy Senior who always rated Collingwood highly and beating them was a must which took them many years to achieve from their initial days in the competition. We have to mark them up as a must win and pay them more attention. They are on their way back up as well. Like Collingwood they are not out of the finals for long periods of time as a norm.
I know the video is draft steals from the year 2000 and a pretty good list by the way but I thought I'd mention that just 12 months prior to that Collingwood drafted Ben Johnson with pick 62 in '99 draft and played 235 games and obviously part of the 2010 premiership, what a hell of a draft steal that was and what a good player he was.
@@PiesFooty yeah that'd be interesting as well to see what you come up with, keep up the good work mate you obviously put a lot of research and thought into these videos
@@stevemcglashan314 &@PiesFooty Slimmer pickings in the 10 years prior, but Neon Leon (34) in the same draft as Ben Johnson, Farkyn Tarkyn and Mal Michael from rookie drafts... And you may remember a handy bloke at pick 90 in the 1992 draft - by the name of Scott Burns
@@kaiberberich1 yeah great pick up, imagine that a future captain with pick 90! Nathan Buckley said Scotty burns was the best player he played with at Collingwood, that's pretty high praise.
Betheras 85 games from pick 76, Josh Thomas 123, at pick 75 are two worth a mention. You'd certainly wouldn't mind getting players of that calibre with a pick in the 70s every year
Can’t argue with your number one although I reckon Shaw could have been higher. Often wonder whether Swanny could have made it through to 2018 if not for the freak injury, he would have been going on 34. Such a smart footballer would have been more than handy as a permanent forward in the GF.
Pretty cool vid probably should have excluded father/pick ups as Shaw and Cloke would have gone higher on the open mar 12:17 ket. Perhaps you can offset this with draft disappointments, Ben Kennedy (pick 19) just didn’t make it or Broomhead (20), Freeman (10) and Scharenberg (6) bad injury runs.
Definitely some unfortunate stories there regarding the aforementioned palters you highlighted. I will look into a video like that for sure! Thanks Todd.
This one I’ll need to look into some more as I know GWS put a pre order on him to some sorts before he was even drafted. I’d need to wrap my head around it!
Not the best players - the best draft steals... Otherwise a certain Scott Pendlebury (pick 5) would be numero uno !! Actually - Pendles could still be on the list - he was a steal .. even at pick 5 !!
Tom Langdon was a great defender for Collingwood, it was a shame that he had so many injuries and had to retire early.......
Such a great video!! I had no idea some of these great players weren’t higher picks in the draft! Crazy!!!

Gooo baby!! 💕💕
Fantastic work you have posted here certainly brings back some great memories...#gopies

What a legendary list of players, all play a pivotal part of the Pies.
All amazing players!

Josh is unbelievable in his own way. We really are blessed to be able to watch these two on a weekly basis 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Josh is so underated

Thanks for the heads up Steve! Maybe I’ll do one for pre 2000s era as well?

Great editing with the footage.

As A pies supporter this was a great video!
Thanks heaps Matthew!! I really enjoyed putting it together 😂

Yeah hard to argue. Hoping we can add Harvey Harrison and Joe Richards to this list in a few years time.
Absolutely! Very optimistic about those two lads 🙏🏽
Harvey Harrison will be a gun in a few years, has all the attributes to be a star........
Really good video bro
Benny Parsons!! Thanks brother
Love the content, keep it up
Thanks Harry! I appreciate it!!

A massive what if for Swanny that will never know unfortunately! Thanks for your support Michael!
Pretty much spot-on. With your top 10 bro.👍
Awesome man! Glad you agree
w video. missing murph and langa
Miss them heaps!! Such a shame 😞

I think you nailed it right cheers
People forget how good prime Travis Cloke was... would have been the best CHF for awhile there.
The best contested mark player for many seasons!
Dane Swan best game on Anzac Day was 2014 and not 2012?
Both great games but I agree 2014 just shaded 2012
44 and 3 in 2012 and 26 and 4 in 2014. Both unbelievable games!
jamie elliott? swear we got him for nothing
This one I’ll need to look into some more as I know GWS put a pre order on him to some sorts before he was even drafted. I’d need to wrap my head around it!
Go pies
Hot pies!
Dane Swan number 1 Premiership Brownlow Copeland he is definitely the best drafted Collingwood player
100%!!
Nick daicos definitely should have been on there and I think beau Mcreary and josh daicos should have been higher
Hahaha it’s a good case to be said about how on earth was he not pick 1!

I believe beams was pick 30
Close! He was pick 29!
Shouldn’t bobby hill be in the list?
He would Liam, but he is a trade steal seeing as we didn’t draft him. I will look to do a trade steal video soon also 😀😀
@@PiesFooty great
DOID 🖤🤍🏆🏆
Slurp!
Yep the ‘Pies have always been “intuitive”! McCreary amazing….all of them,🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍
So good!!
