Complete renovation for my Trabant, year of manufacture is 1990. The car was stopped in a garden during the last 14 year.
Voll Renovation für meine Trabi, Baujahr ist 1990. Das Auto war in einem Garten in den letzen 14 Jahren.
The poor Trabi gets a bad rap for being a crappy car, but people forget that it got east Germany on the road in the same vein as the 1957 Fiat 500 did for Italy, or the 1910 Ford model T did for the United States. I applaud you guys for saving a part of automotive history and hope you enjoy it for years.

Those who don't understand cars like Trabant forget that it was built to last. Those composite panels resist rust, and the fact an average person could rebuild it shows they were built to be fixed, not thrown away. Thanks for this.

Imam 50 godina i moj pokojni otac ih je vozio sedamdesetih godina prošlog veka u obe verzije i nikad nas nigde nije ostavio. Prava mala mazgica od auta...svuda ide a jednostavan do maksimuma (sem mešavine goriva) i startan do bola DVOTAKTNA MAŠINA!

Me and my wife are currently restoring a limousine, it has also been standing 14 years in the goo and it's a beauty. I've got lucky with living in saxony. They're everywhere around here and parts are cheap. Apart from that, all of us learned to drive one of these or owned one.

Remarkable how solid it was for being sat in a field for longer then I’ve been alive.
That was an advantage of the "Durolast" body construction. The body panels were indestructible. Only the steel or iron parts were subject to environmental degradation.

Brava toată stima și respectul pentru acești oameni care țin la adevăratele valori,ale motoarelor și mașinilor de odată care cu părere de rău nu se mai construiesc, și care acestea la nevoie nu te lăsau nici odată în drum,se găsea întotdeauna o modalitate de continua drumul întrerupt din diverse problemele, și încă odată o repet, astăzi mașinile de generație nouă nu face altceva decât să te lase când îți este lumea mai dragă,și îți ruinează portofelul.Nu mai există mașinile omului de rând, păcat, păcat,cu tehnologiile astea au distrus omenirea!!!!!👍👍👍(😠😠😠)!!!!Bravo omule!!!!Tot respectul!!!

Miałem takiego w kolorze zielonym. Samochód prosty ale bardzo funkcjonalny. Mieliśmy wtedy małe dzieci więc np. przewóz wózka czy innych większych rzeczy nie stanowił żadnego problemu. Jeździłem nim 4 lata i nigdy mnie nie zawiódł, ile wyjazdów tyle szczęśliwych powrotów. Potem zamieniłem go na Wartburga 353W Tourist i to było już całkiem to co lubią fani dwusuwów. Pozdrawiam

Ein Trabant ist immer eine lächerliche Dreckskarre, ganz egal wieviel Arbeit man da rein steckt. Die lebensgefährlichen Dinger sollten verboten, konfisziert und geschreddert werden. Mistkröten.
Es ist nicht zwingend kaufen und fahren mit Trabi. Ja, ist nicht so sicher als Autos heute gemacht, richtig, aber für mir fahren mit Trabi ist sehr unterhaltsam. Mehr als 3 Milllon Trabi war hergestellt in Zwickau, das bedeutet, dass Trabant Millionen von Leute ein Teil des Lebens war. Also, konnte nicht so schlecht sein.
Hahaha. Die Ossis mal wieder. Komm mal, wir klären das dann wie Männer.

tolles Video, war überrascht das der allgemeine Zustand für das Alter und dafür das der Trabi im Garten stand, doch ziemlich gut war. Schön gemachtes Auto, allzeit gute Fahrt.
Danke sehr! Es hatte nur 27000 Km bevor Abstellung, und Bodenplatte war behandelt mit irgendeinem Wachs.
Gute Aktion,dass ihr den Trabbi weiter leben lasst.

Ten silnik i to brzmienie. Pamiętam - jeździłem takim przez półtora roku. A ponieważ w komunie w Polsce mieć jakikolwiek pojazd to było szczytem marzeń, a Ja miałem Kombi Trabant 601. Co prawda, kilka razy mogłem się zabić, bo raz odpadło koło, a drugim razem urwała się kierownica zupełnie jak na tej reklamie z piwem na plaży. Ale przyspieszenie miał totalne. W mieście do 60 km/h nikt mnie nie wyprzedził. No i adrenalina była co chwilę.
Miałem Trabanta 601 S 12V Zapinało się 1 i but zwijał asfalt a jak fajnie śmigało się na ręcznym :) oj. Ta wersja z filmiku ma już usprawnienia, spryskiwacz szyby nie na pompkę ręczną a elektryczny :) I jedno czego nie robiłem w Trabancie to nie zapinałem pasów bo w razie "W" była szansa a tak bywało że się pasy zacinały a zbiornik wybuchał ...

Wonderful. I was quite surprised that the bones were in such good shape. The duraplast held up well, too (although the right hand side with all the pollen looked rough)
Thank you! Yes, altough the cassis with the duroplast seemed not the best, we were able the save it with the original painting.
@@latzkoworks The whole thing is an excellent job. I saw the Renault flight case, are you an engineer with them? The engine came up beautifully, the other rebuild video I've seen (aging wheels) he had a lot of difficulty with the pins on those rotary valves. Do you know how long it had been standing before you fixed it?

Hello, I don't know these other channels but I'll check them. I am an engineer, but repairing things and make videos is only my hobby, I have a full time job, and living in Hungary. This Trabant was sitting 14 years in that garden before I bought it. Yes, the smile when the engine was running the first time was real 🙂
