This is far beyond an interview. This is a masterpiece of conversation. I have never seen anything like it. Tommy Tiernan has created a new genre, all previous and subsequent interviews are now irrelevant. Bravo Tommy Tiernan.
As a so call counsellor I am blown away by Tommy's presence and interview skilks. Empathy, unconditional positive regard, I could go on and on...💜This was a masterclass and so moving
The fact that Stephen was comfortable enough to openly talk about his wife and family was very moving. Tommy Tiernan really has the best chat show in the world, bar none.
I first saw Stephen Rea in 'Angel' in 1982. He was brilliant then and was just as brilliant in the more recent 'The English'. An enthralling interview.
I too loved listening to the conversation. Not surprised by Stephen Rea's relaxed conversational manner. I think he is a great actor BECAUSE he is able to be "open and unguarded". He puts himself, his true self, into his characters. That's why his characters are so beloved. Nothing more attractive than authenticity. And, um, note that he said he loves hanging out with women. Not trying to start a new battle of the sexes here, but sometimes in conversation with women, men will participate in subjects that are unlikely to arise in men only conversations. I reckon that Mr Rea has honed his conversational skills during hours of chat with mostly women. And why not! I don't even know why I thought it important to tap out the previous sentence. Stephen Rea is a brilliant guy. So is Tommy Tiernan. Nuff said.
Jesus, I hadn't seen this one before, incredible absorbing meeting , could only be achieved by two Irish men, the sheer understanding of each other, hearts and minds.
I am so thankful I accidentally stumbled across this piece . I was both enthralled and deeply moved by it and captivated by two very genuinely fine and natural artists . This has lifted my spirits - thank you
Also here care of Adam Buxton. I've loved Tommy for years, we don't see enough of him outside Ireland I think he's such an important voice. The idea of this chat show is genius and this is wonderful.
The Adam Buxton podcast also brought me to this interview. This makes every other interview I have ever watched seem like superficial tosh. No laughter tracks, just sitting in on two very interesting and smart blokes having a really interesting chat.
The Adam Buxton podcast brought me here. I'd never heard of Tommy Tiernan (I'm in England), but this is absolutely tremendous. Makes you realise how rubbish most interviews are. I could listen to these two talk for hours
Same! Tommy T is magnificent and Stephen Rea, just check out all my zillions of other videos about him I’m clearly his super-fan! 😎 … I don’t know who Adam Buxton is 😆
There's a very common theme to alot of the interview's. Tommy is brilliant the way he conducts the interview's. He has conversation down to a fine art there's there's transaction happening for people at home watching as well.
Saw the "Crying game" once more last night and it brought me here today, wanting to find out what this great actor was up to these days.. Love the Irish accent..very sexy to my French ear. Great interview!
Ladies, I talk exactly like Stephen, and seeing that he's very busy these days, would you like me to whisper sweet nothings in your ears? 🤣 Merci Beaucoup!
While in lockdown I rewatched the animated horrible histories animated series to which he was the narrator, as a kid you just think its some random Irish man but older and more familiar finding out it was him makes it better, enjoyed him as rodrigo aswell.
I got one of those on dvd too! It’s surreal listening to him being the total professional narrator on these, when you’re an adult, giggling at the animation and only watch it coz of him 😄
Even before they mention Beckett l was thinking the set should have had a tree, a rock, and a moon. The lrish do Beckett best because no matter what language he wrote in the mood he wrote in was lrish. Of course Tommy could do it. Stephen seems to have found some sort of peace which he deserves for the joy he brings to others.
Feltrim Hill, not too far from me in Swords, the fucking council demolished an ancient tomb there and an old windmill built by Dutch workers in the 1600's, Beckett used to wander up there years ago for a bit of peace and a stroll, it was a favourite spot of his, and some painter, both at different times, forget his name.
@@stephenreaway Yeah, ah this was years ago, but still...They had to use stone for the runways and today there's a quarry there, sure half the hill is gone.
I love the space in these chats. The pregnant pauses that go on and on. Agree that an audience would ruin the intimacy. Can't see the level of opening up that happened here happening with an audience. ( Over seen many of them with an audience, and they work, but sometimes you don't gain, and you do loose, by having a load of people there waiting to be entertained.
This is exquisite!

Agreed!
Totally agree

Stephen is so honest and genuine, Tommy is a fab interviewer.
The fact that Stephen was comfortable enough to openly talk about his wife and family was very moving. Tommy Tiernan really has the best chat show in the world, bar none.
Stephen is a very deep respectful man to other's. A beautiful video with a very classy man 👏👏
Amazing interview! Tommy is an amazing listener and a great communicator. So natural. Stephen Rea is a superb actor and has a lovely manner about him.

Love Stephen Rea. Excellent interview.
Loved this conversation, I'm really surprised by how open and unguarded Stephen is. Such a brilliant actor.

From Buenos Aires, Argentina, i love Stephen Rea. Slainte!.
Brilliant just love listen n to you both amazing 👏👏🍀❤️🌈☘️☘️
This was mega, best TV interview I've seen
A wonderful piece of TV.
not having an audience gave this an intensity and intimacy you rarely see
Just in Awe of Tommy and Stephen and it was just a chat. These interviews are something real
Tommy your a proper therapist, giving people time between questions .
Allowing the person to be themselves, brilliant Stephen Rea interview.
NI Summed up and one of the best iterviews on this ever!
Thanks for putting this interview up.
You’re welcome! I’m a total sucker for Stephen Rea.
Brilliant actor. His Role as Alexander Pope in counterpart is the reason I'm watching interviews with him. Brilliant acting there ☺️
Really liking these in depth interviews. I think it suits not having an audience. It's more intimate and personal.
I think you’re on to something there! without an audience it’s just like a private chat between 2 friends, not a performance.
@@stephenreaway Yes, exactly. More enjoyable to watch.
Brilliant 👏
So very rare to see an interview of this nature lately. The interviewer allows the interviewee to speak.
precisely it’s a rare gem this interview 🤩

Thank you , he’d surely Is the most evasive honest person
Two of the greats. What a great conversation! Thanks for posting.

#MeToo
Me too!
Tommy is a great comedian too.
wonderful new approach to interviewing - loved it
"Are ya a sad man?" is a wonderful question (genuinely not being facetious here)
There's a very common theme to alot of the interview's. Tommy is brilliant the way he conducts the interview's. He has conversation down to a fine art there's there's transaction happening for people at home watching as well.
Stephen, it's been a while but you were amazing in The company of Wolves
such a great film
Tommy is so good at this
Lockdown number 1 was a special time for us. The first time my husband had long time off work since he was 14.
Saw the "Crying game" once more last night and it brought me here today, wanting to find out what this great actor was up to these days.. Love the Irish accent..very sexy to my French ear. Great interview!
very sexy to my ear too 😍😍😍 I adore this man!

@@paulustarsus Coquin ! :)
@@stephenreaway I think he may go bald soon
James in 50 years maybe 😆
Stephen is a real human.
Lovely men having a lovely chat
Lovely
I think quite a few people thought they'd get lots done in lockdown but it didn't happen. There was a lot of meditating out the window.
I feel like I have been eavesdropping on a deep and profound conversation between two men sitting at the table beside mine.
where watching the best interviewer of 2021
we are indeed

I'd like to hear more about what was good about Dolours.
Very funny very literary beautiful great vocabulary, produced two wonderful sons. He said it. By all accounts she was intoxicating
His memoirs is one I would cue for.
Same here!
Does Tommy act? He should. Such depth in that face
Yes he does, he’s in Derry Girls and brand new movie Joyride www.imdb.com/title/tt13515090/
4:14 incredible ventriloquism by Tommy
Very nice exchange. He looks so sad in himself.
I’m ready to cheer him up 😉😄

OMG! that’s a tragedy! I hear the council are wrecking parts of Dublin centre, too, to build new hotels and such 😥
@@stephenreaway Yeah, ah this was years ago, but still...They had to use stone for the runways and today there's a quarry there, sure half the hill is gone.
aren’t these ancient tombs/historical buildings protected? 😢
@@stephenreaway Ah no, not back in those days.
such a shame! 😩
His face is getting old but hair still outstanding..
This wouldn't work with an audience ... he wouldn't have felt comfortable enough.
Interview with the vampire santiago
Lol yes 🧛

Very true. Would be happy for it to remain audience-free.
Good point.
