Thank you two for simplifying this process. I recently bought a 16ft day sailor with a small cabin. It had no rudder, no running rigging, no sails and no way to attach the stays to the boat. I have been buying replacement blocks but was unsure how to run the mainsheet system. Your boat seems to be set up identical to mine. This is the first video that clearly shows the routing of the sheet. I am new to sailing so I am learning as I go. I have up graded to Harken carbo blocks with the 57mm pulleys . I'll be running 3/8" main and jib sheets. I have pretty big hands so these are the ropes that felt the best in my hands. I have also upgraded all the cleats. I have to build a trailer also but it's a small price to pay for a $100.00 boat. The hull, mast, boom and stays are all in excellent condition. I have ordered all parts needed to step my mast but parts are on back order. Once the mast is stepped I will be ordering my sails. The cost to get this boat ready to sail has been a little overwhelming but alot cheaper than a new boat. Total with the build of my trailer will be around $3,500.00 . I have friends who spend that much on fishing kayaks. Sorry for rambling so long. Thanks again, great video very simple.
I'm enjoying your instructional video. I got a great deal on a `79 13' Cyclone sailboat this year and I'm learning a lot about rigging it from your video. Thanks. Cheers.
Thanks for the vid guys. This was very informative! I just won high bid on a Capri 14 on a galvanized trailer for 202.00 on Ebay and the one thing I was worried about the most was the rigging ! All the best, Monte Fleet 4 Catalina 22 in Folsom
Are you in Folsom Pennsylvania? I just bought a 14.2 and galvanized trailer, and was thinking of taking it for a test sail someplace on the Delaware river
Great video. I have a O'day DSII Daysailer. Haven't sailed it yet and been looking at rigging. Just got my mainsail and jib for it. Your vid is going to help me get it up and going, because the setup is similar. But I have a extra line at the top, thinking maybe a spinnaker. Still looking into that one. Thanks again.
What is all of this happiness? You scallywags wipe that smile off of your face and stop all of that dilly dallying, we're losing the tide. Get that damned centerboard up until we leave shore... break out those oars wench.... You lubbers act like you think that this is a Disney Musical... the sea waits on no man.
Well done you two! I have owned a 14.2 since 2006 and this was the best video to hand off to the new owners!!! Smooth sailing~
What a great vid. Thank you. The background tunes are fun too!!
