Er, isn’t it broken, and apparently now deemed to be ‘beyond economic repair’? As I understand matters, there are structural issues with the trackway owing to its design and materials choice, but I could be wrong?
I'm so glad you did this. We were there in 2018 and, sadly, the railway wasn't in operation when we were there visiting from Canada. When the skies cleared...those views! The Cairngorms are one of our favourite areas, too.
Fantastic! The funicular is amazing! I loved it! I'm so glad they got it up & running again. That was one of the best moves those folks could have made in order for folks to view this breathtaking Scenery! The views from the wee 'train' are spectacular! Especially on the descent, when the 'train' first pops out of the tunnel there. Then all the way down! Just stunning! The Restaurant is also wonderful, with equally stunning views, along with the Observation Deck outside. Once the mist lifted, you could see 'forever.' What a terrific way to spend the day! And the cost is very reasonable. Aye! 'Twas more than worth every penny! Thank you for sharing this really beautiful & exhilarating experience! Blessings to you!
Nice video Dom, didn't know they had reopened it after all the years of it being closed. Can't wait to go up there, love the highlands, we try to get up the highlands twice a year for a holiday, usually the Black Isle. Our happy place we feel that is our real home, the piece and quiet and stress-free. Plus our great scenery.
Great views, with fast efficient service. There is the Snowdon mountain railway, and other funiculars, but this one is outstanding. Do you know how to get there from Aviemore railway station without a car? £20 well spent! Thanks Dom. 😊
I'd been looking forward to visit this railway since ages. Booked a ticket, planning to go there next week, only last week my money was refunded. There's a message on the website stating it is out of service. Without any further explanations. Very disappointing.
It is such a shame, it seems to have been one issue after another. I think the big problem is there are next to no engineers in the whole UK that really understand the design/workings of funicular railways so its always a huge delay and cost when something goes wrong. I hope its repaired soon so you can get on your trip, its a beautiful bit of Scotland, well worth it.
If you visit Parkswatch Scotland website you can read all about the structural problems that the railway continues to face. It is more likely to be dismantled than repaired, as those issues appear to now render it so fundamentally UNSAFE. A good idea, but extremely poorly planned and executed.
Will wait until after the school, holidays before going back on it, will also go on the Strathspey railway, despite living in Inverness I never been on it. Never do I ever get bored of the views. However I’m going to be controversial, I think the gondolas on Nevis Range is much better. You ever get to go out for walks at the top, though the cafe served greasy food at the top.
What about you, do you think it’s good that this line is back in service? Is it worth the years of effort?
I’d say yes. 😄

Fabulous video and the views on that descent were stunning. Scotland in the sunshine, you can’t beat it.
No you can't! really looking forward to summer rolling around, Got more Scottish stuff planned this year.
That view is worth every penny
Absolutely, amazing views coming up and going down.
I can always remember coming to the skie resort and going on the mountain railway its self a few years ago. Could see myself going back there again.
Please do, its such a great day out!
Great video dom.tge scenery and colours are amazing cheers
Thanks 👍 they really are. Up there in my favorite places in Scotland.
Great views. Sri Lanka coming up soon? 🤞

Oh that's good you got clear weather amazing scenery
Yes it was, absolutely love this part of Scotland
The view as you came down took my breath away 🤗
Glad to hear it, it is a fantastic part of Scotland and i highly recommend it to anyone if they get the chance to visit.
The panorama opened up for you/us 👌🌟 Thank you Dom 👍
My pleasure, glad you enjoyed it.

Super video Dom, will do the Funicular next time I’am up that direction, just love Scotland!

Hey Dom! Great video. I heard you buy 2 tickets, do you need one to go up and one to go down again?? Thanks xx
No each ticket is a return trip, I had company on this trip but the didn’t want to be in the video. 😁

Stagecoach runs a bus from Aviemore. I haven't used it, but it looks like it runs once per hour between around 9 am and 5 pm.
Yes, you are right its great value for £20. There is a bus that goes from the rail station.
I definitely would like to go on that train in the far North of Scotland. I have been to Scotland couple times.
You should it’s a fantastic ride with some amazing scenery
Was that a walking path I saw on the right coming down?
You can walk up and down but that track is mainly for maintenance vehicles for the ski resort.

Well I might just have the Gondolas in a future video
We could do with a couple more of these funicular railways
Absolutely!
Novel trip with fantastic views. Shameful that it took years for the powers that be to fix the funicular railway.
It is a shame but I'm just glad its back and operational now. Highly recommended to anyone if they get the chance.
It was closed a month ago and in a complete mess!
I helped build this 20 year's ago, scaffolding, it was a brilliant job 4000 ft up every morning at 8am
Fantastic! do you not fancy giving them a hand to get it going again? 😅
Been here but train was not on
Was such a shame it has been out of action for so long, I hope you manage to get onto it next time you visit.
