    Great story ! Really well presented ! Love myths and legends like this...Scotland is full of them ! The benefit here is, if you don't find anything, you still get to benefit from the beautiful scenery & wilderness ! 😊

    tsk tsk... I live in a town called Kingussie (about 15-20 miles from the mountain) and anyone (including me who is supersticious) believes in the Grey Man of Ben Macdhui and the story goes that if you see the grey man he will show you the way off the mountains, bit of a godsend in my opinion.

    2:05.."I was seized with terror and took to my heels..." Brilliant - took to my heels - now there's an expression you don't hear very often these days. Dunno why, it conveys the meaning perfectly with a mental image. (If you catch my drift..)

    A very down to earth bloke I know said he was near the top of the Ben when he was overcome by a feeling of fear he couldn't explain.He turned back and made his way down the hill.

    I went up there with a mate in october 2012. We were in a whiteout and noise of the wind screeched. But in the havoc the place seemed quite. An eerie delusional panic surrounded the place. The mountain chills me to the bone.

    I've never heard of the old man, but I climbed ben macdui today, and honestly for no reason really I reached the summit and just felt I had to leave quickly. Sunny, fine day but just not a settled vibe.

    Well I was up on the plateau of Ben Macdui in 1977 on a beautiful sunny day in May after a heavy snowfall.
    As I arrived at the summit I heard heavy slow footsteps behind me accompanied by heavy laboured breathing.
    There was no one on the plateau at all until about twenty minutes later two ski moutaineers came out of the Etchacan
    corrie breathing heavily and walking in the same heavy tread. There is obviously some audio effect created by the corrie which travels over the summit. If it had been misty or night then I might have taken it for something more sinister! The thought of someone firing shots beggars belief. Murder on Macdui!

    Intriguing video, thanks. The massive Cairngorms earned my respect. Navigation skills are a must here - like you said they are so rounded to be almost featureless. It was one of our best day walks in stunning Scotland:) Not sure I'd want to go up in the snow and mist - it is uber cold in summer!

    I’ve been to the summit of Ben Macdui there is something weird about it god knows what but I felt uneasy up on it there were a few other people with me and a couple of guys up there too everyone had an uncomfortable feeling I’ve talked to a few people who’ve been at the summit all the same there’s definitely something off about it. There’s obviously no monster just a strange feeling some places are like that be it wind or the altitude maybe. the top is quite flat and exposed that might be part of it though

    Nice video, the Brocken Spectre surely is a fascinating optical illusion, but neither your shadow nor infrasound generated by the wind does create footstep sounds that follow behind you.
    So there must be something else behind many of the accounts of the Big Grey Man.

Once you had filled out all the paperwork and given them your permenant address in the area (they dont give licenses to tourists), telling the local police "yeah, me and my friends would like firearms licenses- we thought we would go up Ben MacDhui and see if we can shoot a mythical creature, so if you would be good enough to give us the licenses we will be on our way....". I'm not saying I was gonna do it. I was entertaining the notion of it, or even suggesting the idea to someone else. And the only thing I thought of was simply going into the mountains and staying there for a while. And see if anybody would get seized by a so-called feeling of immense panic. That's all.

    If I decide to ever visit that place, I'm going to take a group with me, and we're going to have guns. That should help the panic level. However, I'm wondering why nobody has thought of going up the mountain in larger groups. In these cases, it's just one or two guys.
    Someone else who lives in that area should try going up there with a group of friends (around 5 or 6), armed with guns and carrying twice as much food and water as they actually need. There's courage in numbers.

  • @pinheadman665
    @pinheadman665 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Thunda65
    I never said anything about shooting a mythical creature. The guns are there just in case we need protection from it. And I obviously know that you need to do more than that to get your license. And who says I'd be a tourist? What if I'd decided to take up permanent residence in Scotland? hmmmmmmmmmmmm?

  • @pinheadman665
    @pinheadman665 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @Thunda65
    I'd still shoot it if it attacked, man. It's called shooting in self-defence. And I'm the pin head? And that's all depending if that thing is real. And I don't just shoot at anything that gives me a fright.
    Look, in the end, all I'm trying to say is that if not me, then somebody should try going up the mountain with a large group, heavily armed and well provisioned, and explore the mountain some more. Find out more about if this big grey man truly exists or not.
