There's no specific objective in the game. This video demonstrates everything that can be done. Copyright: Mattel Inc. Publisher: Epyx. (1985) www.lemon64.com/games/details....
I think my older borther's copy only lasted a while and then broke. Not sure if I actually played all of this game or if I have seen this video before :)
Still find myself humming it from time to time. It's like the original GTA but with no crime. Well except from when you picked your favorite car from the parking lot lol.
Pretty sure this was the first video game I ever played, it was definitely the one I played the most on my Commodore 64. I remember I would glitch the fire truck out and it would get stuck teleporting and crashing into walls until I shut off the system.
Electronic Arts retained the rights to Mattel's Hot Wheels franchise and released it for Nintendo 64 (N64) and PlayStation (PS1). Kudos to Electronic Arts for bringing Hot Wheels to next generation gaming systems.
They Should bring this Game back onto a new platform.. There are very few car games that allow you to BUILD the car and then drive it.. it was always fun to create a car from the selected peices..
I remember this...my 5-year-old little brother was crazy about cars and always wanted to play Hot Wheels. We were always fighting about it, especially if I bought new games. Luckily he then got Nintendo and a motorcycle game.
1985 grade 7...played a lot of this. The year it came out my dad took me to a computer show and there was a big crowd around a Commodore 64 taking turns playing
I wondered why I liked this game. Then, you entered the demo. derby and I was like, oh hell yeah! Then, you honked and peeled out a Bob's gas. Followed by hopping in the fire truck. How could I not love this? Thanks!
@MrMagnat007 Whoops, of course there was something I missed :$ I think it would've been possible to squeeze it in even though the 11 minute timelimit...
One of the very first computer games I played, back in 1991-2 I think. I suddenly got the theme music stuck in my head yesterday.. So there was no real objective in the game.. I'm glad, got a bit frustrated about not getting what to do in the game when I was a kid :)
Honestly, there was a lot more impressive music in C64 games even at the time. For example, any of Rob Hubbards music, such as Monty on the Run and Commando.
This was one of the first video games I ever played as a small child, growing up in the 90s on my brothers C64. I searched for it for years, awesome!
my god and then to think i was STUNNED by the graphics in this game.
For the C 64 and for the time these were great
They look pretty good to me.
You have to remember that you probably first remember seeing this on a 13 inch crt and not on your 65 inch had set
My copy always froze at the parking garage.
24 years later, and I finally get to see what happens ;D
Same here! The era of the internet is a strange one indeed.
Same! My oil change also never worked.
I think my older borther's copy only lasted a while and then broke. Not sure if I actually played all of this game or if I have seen this video before :)
Wow i thought that i was the only one, the parking garage and the oil change never worked for me, it freezes the game and i had to restart,
Heh we all had the same copy
I played this game for hours - painted my car and cruised through the streets! I miss the old times.
I love how you first take a convertible through the carwash, get it all sparkly clean, and then enter it into the demolition derby!
The glare blinds 'em :)
that driver some how lived thru all that, huh
I used to love getting the fire truck and saving the house on fire....boy did it catch on fire a lot.
I loved the opening music for this game. The demolition derby minigame was a blast, as well. Thanks for the little bit of nostalgia.

One of my fav C64 games growing up, this video was like a time portal to me!
Shiiiit. This was released 32 years ago. I feel so old. Thanks for sharing this, bruh
Pretty sure this was the first video game I ever played, it was definitely the one I played the most on my Commodore 64.
I remember I would glitch the fire truck out and it would get stuck teleporting and crashing into walls until I shut off the system.
Nice, taking the convertible through the carwash with the roof down.
the eyes love it
I am not sure if this has been mentioned often enough, but you can also build your own car in this game :-)
I remember getting the fire engine stuck in the car wash.
Hot Wheels is everywhere in all nations worldwide.
I LOVE the music in this...
I used to play this as a kid just for the demolition derby mini game. Hours of fun!

Hot Wheels als Kind hatte ich das Game für meinen C64 mal gehabt und liebte es, irgendwie war das noch schöner als mit echten Hot Wheels zu spielen.

My first car game. The memories! Thank you. Also, I never saw the fire engine. I remember everything before that but had not idea. Good times.
The Oil Change guy seems to be as competent as those drive -thru oil change places today.
FOOking amazing!!! 30 something years later. how about that intro song! FIRE
Used to play this game all the time as a kid. Thank you.
Oh my god...
I never before thought about searching this stuff on TH-cam. All those memories from the old days...
I played this game *SOOO* much as a kid! Thanks for the upload!
I remember this...my 5-year-old little brother was crazy about cars and always wanted to play Hot Wheels. We were always fighting about it, especially if I bought new games. Luckily he then got Nintendo and a motorcycle game.
The menu music is so catchy! 😀 🤘🏼

I dont know what made me think of thiz game but seeing thiz gameplay brings back so many memories as a kid! I used to think this game was so cool!
Don't think I ever knew about the fire engine. You learn something new every decade.
Cars at 0:23 (fixed) : Blazer 4x4 (top left), Dixie Challenger (top right), Turbo Streak (middle left), Baja Beetle (middle right), Sol-Aire CX4 (bottom left), and Hot Bird (bottom right)
Loved this game! Oil Change was my favorite. Great memories.
I just got this game going on an emulator purely out of nostalgia. I think simply watching this video would have been sufficient.
Matt Forbes alas, there's a lot of C 64 games just like that.......
Wat a time to be alive, always loved the pontiac firebird because of this game
Great game.. although this is one of the c64 games that would always crash while playing the driving scenarios and interacting with things
38 years later and I still remember that squeaky wheel from the oil change place.
It was a sim of a Hot Wheels playset. Great timekiller when I was a kid.
Time sink ... my god the day I realized as kid that there was no objective my interest died though.
I don't know why but the music from this game has been stuck in my head lately.
Oh my goodness so happy you posted this. This game and the barbie one were my favorite .
I never knew one could enter the fire dept. and save houses from fire!
a real blast.
I remember this game I played it when I was a kid.
I wondered why I liked this game. Then, you entered the demo. derby and I was like, oh hell yeah! Then, you honked and peeled out a Bob's gas. Followed by hopping in the fire truck. How could I not love this? Thanks!
i loved this game growing up
Dem 90degree turns.....
I know! they don't make them cars like that anymore!
This takes me back to my youth
I've just come across this. I'd never seen this before in my C64 days. It looks great!
this brings back some memories
Man I would have loved this when I was a kid! It's pretty detailed
I dig this title's theme song.
So many flashbacks ! Tuning the cylinders was great hehe
I just got nostalgic. Loved this game so much. Just cruising and making custom cars. Why doesn't this get reinvented, indie game anyone?
I LOVED this game! Not all of the features worked on my copy however....
Ah, this brings back memories!
Cars at 0:23 : Blazer 4x4 (top left), Dixie Challenger (top right), Turbo Streak (middle left), Baja Bett
ahhh memories
@MrMagnat007 Whoops, of course there was something I missed :$
I think it would've been possible to squeeze it in even though the 11 minute timelimit...
Was crazy the moment you realized you could park in the fire station and take the fire truck out to fight fires!
God that music is an instant time machine
MAN I didnt know you could get the firetruck!
$1.43 Gallon
0,5 dollars per liter. Old days were awesome and cheap
One of the very first computer games I played, back in 1991-2 I think. I suddenly got the theme music stuck in my head yesterday.. So there was no real objective in the game.. I'm glad, got a bit frustrated about not getting what to do in the game when I was a kid :)
IF you can call this music. The SID recoils in horror.
love the theme.
haha, god i remember thinking this was the coolest game EVER!
I used to sit there for hours just driving around, washing then parking my car.
Screw the fire, I'm taking the fire truck on the freeway!
Not gonna lie, that music at the beginning is pretty bangin' for a game from 1985.
Honestly, there was a lot more impressive music in C64 games even at the time. For example, any of Rob Hubbards music, such as Monty on the Run and Commando.
Now I'm considering how hard it'd be to do something like this now - though perhaps with spaceships instead of cars...
I loved this game.
i remember when i played this game in 1985
2:49 HDR blooms on the C64 !
man I wish gas prices were like that
You know this game is old. Look how cheap the gas was.
Ma che bello era!!! Mi ricorda la mia infanzia
Gostei ano 1985 e 2022

Looks like the graphics from skate rock
The squealing tires seemed realistic a quarter century ago... 😑

That game looks boring
Next you should do a playthrough of hot wheels on that mat with the city and streets everyone had as a kid.
