Yes! I want more to this world. More countries and their tanks. Developments in tank design by way of research. Maybe completely unique tank "types" that exist purely because of the different conditions that their world might have and just more tanks overall
This is something I like to do. Make a chassis and use it for the base for SPGs and similar vehicles. Would like to see some of the "weird" concepts of what was the interwar period for us too like Landships and the Tankettes that were produced en masse in this series too.
Kind of gives the vibe that two companies designed the vehicle. One company being tasked with the development of a hull and engine, and the other being tasked with the creation of a turret capable of mounting current and potential guns. The design dissonance makes me think that the two were designed with limited contact between factories.
Guess that's the kinda thing that happens when one tries to employ large numbers of Buildings together into one Project trying to get it completed faster. :P
@@JoshuaGanoTyraxLightning In WWII the Germans did this a lot when testing competing designs. Krupp would design a turret and forward the information on required turret ring dimensions and weight to the competitors for the preparation of the prototype hulls. The turrets would be sent for trials and remain for the duration of product trials. This happened for the Pz. IV, Panther, and Tiger programs.
A few ideas for making each country's tanks unique: 1. Come up with (or determine from your map) the type of environment each country (or its borders) has. That will obviously affect camo choice (of tanks designed for that border) but also could come up with unique situations/explanations. The mud scraper is a good example, why do Chisford tanks have them? Maybe Chisford has a lot of swamps, or maybe it's a deliberate design since there could be swampland/river delta in and around Braswest, where they intend to see the most action. 2. You mentioned funny caliber and the countries not really knowing what they're doing, maybe each country/alliance has standardized calibers of weapon. So for example Chisford makes a 42mm standard gun (which is why it is on this tank--they had it available), while their Northern Alliance deliberately use 41mm so Chisford can't plunder ammunition, but the Southern Alliance could use 1.5 inch rounds instead (which also highlights that even measurement systems are different across borders)
I've thought about doing this but I don't have a PC so I can't have sprocket. But I've made my country with a bunch of lore it's called mauriza. The reason I bring this up is that there was a civil war in 1976-1982 And the US and USSR we're involved, after the war mauriza had a bunch of American and Russian tanks lying around so they decided to do some experimenting. In the universe I created, there's a famous photo of an m48 turret on a T64 hull, mauriza's modern tanks follow a similar principle of Western like turrets and Eastern like hulls. One thing I wanted to add is that during world war II they created two of their own unique calibers such as the 108 mm Cannon and the 18.7 x 120mm antimaterial round that still see service into the modern age.
You could do this in conjunction with Messier82 ! He's doing a similar series in Flyout where he imagined a fictional country and the evolution of its fighter
This is a very neat little concept! I'd love to see how the story progresses, and how the tanks are built. Maybe if there's enough traction, and if you've got the time for it lol, you could branch out into making planes in flyout for some of the nations too :)
One thing that I've always wondered about 2 man turrets is why do they have a gunner and loader/commander instead of a loader and gunner/commander? Wouldn't it be better to have the crew member with the most situational awareness (and the one who literally spots the enemy) to also be the one who shoots?
i dont know where to leave this suggestion on the server but for one of the countries make them surprise attack based so they mostly utilise cheap and fast light tanks/tankettes that are generally pretty weak but do well in ambush situations
Building things based on a fantasy world and its lore is super cool! Would love to see a you develop a tech tree which I reckon will get more and more difficult with the war advancing and the nations trying to counter each other and some working together. Side note though: I know this video is obviously focused on the tank design but I would've very much appreciated you kept the world map up while explaining the lore to make it easier to follow along.
I really enjoyed this video. The context of a fantasy setting that still consideres the manufacturing expenses and experience of workers, it's cool, it's interesting and it doesn't bear the weight of historical accuracy or any real world suffering that is associated with actual war machinery. Also the fantasy maps are super nice. I can totally imagine the borders shifting and with it different requirements for tank designs. "Enemy dug wider trenches in the soft fertile ground we try to conquer? - We need longer tracks. The enemy retreated into the mountains? We need to be able to climb steeper inclines and also way more fuel since field refueling up there is not an option." I can see so many more scenarios.
This is a really cool idea for a series! Would be interesting to see something like enviromental influence on designs, eg. one country has lots of soft grounds/swamps so its tanks need to have wider tracks or another country having lots of hills and narrow roads so the tanks have to be thin and have more low gears/stronger engines. I don't know if that would be realistic, but I'm just throwing some ideas.
Too bad I didn't meet you at Tank Fest. Maybe next year. Also as someone visiting for the first time, it was also quite hard to figure out where you might possibly be.
Definitely gonna have to get my hands on Sprocket so I can make tanks for Beryoksa and Selyzan. (Selyzani homebrew projects after their independence are gonna be goofy, though they are stopgaps to at least stand a chance against Beryok armor)
You could easily have an infantry support variant if you just change the gun to a howitzer, but i would like to see a casemate variant of this hull for that
The KSP music during the timelapse caught me so off guard I genuinely thought I was just imagining it and I almost gave myself a mental breakdown until... I paused the video and realisation struck me like a ton of bricks...
Maybe a super shortened version like the tretarch, and 2 drivers, 1 for reverse, and possibly a rear machinegun, 1 for the usual driving, and a commander gunner in some heinously small turret to give off that “My cousin had this design, and since I’m the head of the project I get to submit this concept” feel
My man created Frankenstein monster... Size of British, turret looks like Swedish, overall look like from USA, and accessories like Russia+Germany... I LOVE IT
Totally dig this idea for a Vid Series! :D I've pondered what i'd consider doin for myself when I ever eventually begin playing this game, when I get ready to. Current possible idea: Trying to make my own Logo and Roleplay as a Mercenary Company that does its own Resource Mining and Construction of its equipment and vehicles, and run by me myself who is prone to liking to experiment and isn't afraid to be unorthodox... and thinks Fenders look and feel like the Tank equivalent of wearing Skirts and Skirts are for Sissies! ;P Imagine how cool it'd be if we could eventually take ideas like this even farther and make Created Character-like Troops to operate various kinds of Tanks of various kinds of Strats and Roles... then be able to make Custom Uniforms with Custom Badges & Patches and such, even being able to incorporate Custom Logos into the Badges/Patches? :D I'm already curious how this bold charge into War is gonna pan out... though I can't fault this Lone Industrial Nation a bit on its Paranoia... especially cause i've played Valkyria Chronicles in the past... (Though sadly didn't manage to beat it before my Play Log got interrupted... if I ever manage to play it again, i'll probably have to start over from the beginning cause i'll have forgotten too much of it.) Edit: Oops, forgot to say this the first time... My prediction, is the opposition is caught grossly outgunned and out-armored by this new War Machine and gets desperate and resorts to Battlefield-style driving suicide vehicles armed with mass explosives trying to stop it. Thus, i'm makin a guesstimate that this Industrial Nation's next Tank will be a fast maneuverable Tank with a smaller but fast firing and really fast reloading Gun and fast as possible Turret Rotation Speed, seeking to blow away the swarm of explosive vehicles cannibalized from emergency drafted smaller vehicles ranging from Cars to Jeeps.
Honestly doing tanks for fictional counteries is really fun. As im listening to this im developing a T-55 inspired tank for a setting where the in worlds USSR collapsed after their ww2, and now one of the new counteries tries to get ahead of the other new counteries and other world powers. To establish it self as the big player in their region. And the tank M.50 is seen as the key to do that.
i may not be your number 1 viewer or anything but please for the love of god keep this as a series i love anything to do with world building and the military tech that comes with said worlds
I have an idea for fleshing out the different vehicles in your different branches of military throughout, of course using sprocket for the tanks and mechanized units, fly out for aircraft and a nifty newish game called naval art for designing ships and such. Even if this doesn't really sound like a good idea I think you should really check out naval art it is a fantastic game.
The tri wheels give me Valentine MK I vibes, the turret a weird Churchill/Panther fit (the rounded mantlet and angled turret), and oddly, overall reminds me of the Hungarian Toldi III. The front hull angles reminds me of the BT series. The gun has that weird British 3 pndr (47mm) quirk. I could see widening the hull to fit a turretless TD concept.
A combined Chi-ha (Or Chi-he) hull and a combined Valentine tank tracks and a combined Panzer II turret.. Clearly it's a good fictional tank for the faction
excellent idea in my opinion, i cannot wait to see more models of tanks for this country, im really excited for heavy tanks, beefy like tiger II tank series or other late war ones, amazing work! Love it
With all of these tanks you’ve made in geometric, are you gonna make just one or two videos, where you test all of them out in battles when it comes out?
I've been wanting you to do something like this foreeeever now lol. It seems like such a clear thing to do if you're someone who's going to be investing a lot of time in this game. I hope to do this kind of thing with the help of an AI for some creative unpredictability (sort of co-writing), when, you know, there's something for us to do with our tanks once we've built them 🙄I love the idea of each nation having it's own design "traits"; much of which will logically follow on from things like their geography, climate, how big they are compared to their neighbour etc
not sure if you play helldivers 2 patch, but if you've heard the discourse recently regarding a player designed tank for the game i'd love to see your take on it in sprocket
Yes now I don’t feel weird being the only one who designs tanks for fictional countries in my fictional little world! (I do this in other games, I don’t have sprocket)

How about one nation has something like Britain's Universal Carrier or France's Renault UE Chenillette and Lorraine 37 L, maybe an amphibious version, which would evolve into APCs, IFVs, anti-aircraft vehicles, and self-propelled guns.
Would love to see the whole evolution of each different chassis too- converting each tank into more heavily armored tanks or even into spgs
100% i reallyyy love that idea

Messier82 is doing it in Flyout ! Worth checking out, trust me
I think leaf springs look better if you just use addon plates for them
They are add-on plates tho
@@PatchBits those adding structures I mean
Make a WW2 tank destroyer with as much frontal armor as possible with a 128mm gun I would love to see what you come up with!
would be cool to see some community designs potentially for the other nations. Would love to see this a series!
I love lore! World building in a rough 20th century setting with no magic or anything is so underutilize
See "The Quar's War" if that's your jam. The cliff-notes version is WWI with anteaters if Napoleon rose to power in 1910.
@@jonskowitz on it
It kind of looks like a BT tank with a panther turret
also as a Nation Roleplayer I love the lore for this
looks like a Matilda/Churchill mk1 turret
It would be super cool to also make some planes for said country in flyout, like from WW1 - WW2 - Early jets - etc etc as the country progresses
Messier82 has a series like that. With a couple episodes out

That map generator is really good, I personally use it a ton!
i love to see a super heavy tank for this world
I somehow completely forgot that Tankfest was last weekend, was meaning to go and see the rebirth of the mobile shed FV 4005

It's a fun idea, I have done tanks, ship and even some aircraft of the earler decades of the 20th century for stories.
Patchbits finally makes something original??!!?
A heavy mortar tank for this nation is needed for brutal fast assault stuff
making lore for a country is fun

it kinda looks like a mix of BT, KV, and A13 hull, and a Pz.II and cast KV turret.
you should use flyout to develop aircraft for the faction
Love doing this in sprocket
NGL reminds me of a panzer4 with the hull and the fact it could be case mated like a stug
Make some more of these videos pls they are so good
This is literally what my discord community does. And then we fight the countries on a global map.
Great idea for a series! But i feel the turret feels a bit Swedish

ik i'm a month late but i'd love this concept
Most of my tank knowledge comes from war thunder, so take what i say with any amount of salt you need.

2.if you what to make it look even more like panzer 2, you could move the main gun from middle to the side and give it a commander cuppla
(Increasing the crews to 4) and make loader face the breach.
(It looks unorthodox and probably requires the turret to be redesigned. But it would be cool looking,i think 🤔)
if you cant do that make them have absurdly small tanks (due to budget cuts or smth)
How about one nation has something like Britain's Universal Carrier or France's Renault UE Chenillette and Lorraine 37 L, maybe an amphibious version, which would evolve into APCs, IFVs, anti-aircraft vehicles, and self-propelled guns.
It looks kind of like if the T18 Boarhound had tracks
When you have a ton of point in a line like when he's working on the turret how to you combine them all to the one point?
I really love that idea
Why do your game have more content than mine? like the interiors and the modeled crew members? is that a dlc that I've missed or smth?
It's an open beta!
@@PatchBits ohhh I see, thanks!
