That’s record time! It’s hardly even been a few hours and this reaction is out. I don’t know if I said it on the “Chokehold” reaction, but “Chokehold” gives me similar vibes to Deftones’ “You’ve Seen the Butcher.” This track was my personal preference though.

But these two singles were projected to drop due to SpineFarm’s post showing the two images of Chokehold and The Summoning. Anyways, these two drops have been absolutely phenomenal

High Water is probably still the number 1, but this song is now number 2. Everything about it is so fresh and unique. And that's what I've come to love about Sleep Token.

Took me nearly a dozen listen to figure it out, but the solo gives me “The Sky is Red” vibes from Leprous. What a crazy departure and step forward for Sleep Token’s sound. And that synth interlude? Absolutely transcendent.
Seriously, I've loved this sort of sound for years. Leprous (especially their earlier stuff), VOLA, Agent Fresco, some of Devin Townsend's stuff... It's like prog metal has been having this funky transition for almost a decade and now it's leaking into other bands. It's exciting.

First take made me wonder if some of this came to them while touring with Nothing More last year. I'm digging the structure, vocal choices, and funk influence. Not an immediate favorite for me personally, but still really solid and fun. I'm into this Sleep Token remix of Sleep Token. I have had Chokehold on repeat since it came out yesterday; here for all of it.
Yea the abrupt switch ups kinda reminded me of some of what Nothing More has done. Definitely made it their own, but conceptually very similar. I really like it. Some of it I almost wish was separate songs so those beautiful moments could be even more extended. But I also love the abrupt shifts and contrasts.
This song makes perfect sense. Metal and Jazz Funk Electronic fusion. Metal originated from Blues, Jazz and Funk. Electronic has been intermixed with the metal/jazz/funk Scene since the 70s.

I listed to Chokehold and was stoked then I saw the next single drop and I waited….I read a comment for some one about the last two minutes so…I was like DAMN. The way it was composed and put together. I was pleasantly surprised. They way they keep us waiting. They way they flex all musical (not just vocals) prowess….damn.

Can't bate the aul' live reactions as they happen! Ill agree with the comments about the sublime vocals smoothing into the monlithic slabs and stabs of guitar. But- I really like the liquid, mercury like guitar solo. It reminds me personally of OG virtuosos like Steve Vai. His "Passion and Warfare" album from 1990 is a grrrrreat instrumental album mo chara that is the peak of shred guitar from that era.
