This is the first video my son has watched. I was nodding my head in agreement the whole time! Still remember my last game in high school... Very bittersweet moment in time!
Wow! What an incredible compliment. Thank you very much for the support! I'm so glad you found this video helpful. I'll try to make more like this one!
Justin, this video brought me to tears. It made me realize I’ve been taking most areas of my life for granted. The thought that one day I won’t be able to head to the ball park, lace up my cleats and experience the “the thrill of the grass,” is devastating. The hourglass is running out gents. Make the most of every day, every moment and every opportunity. Someday, the opportunities that flood our lives on a daily basis, won’t be there. The worst feeling a person can experience as they age, is looking back over their life and wishing they hadn’t taken for granted all their abilities, their relationships, their health and the power we all have in each moment to do something great with the opportunities that are staring us right in the face. “Today is the only day,” for tomorrow may never come.
Thanks for making this video. Everything you said has been true for me in this season alone. I have had ups and downs, great games and horrible games, feeling like I’m on top of the world and being depressed. I love that saying of your dad’s about the highs and lows. I appreciate it and I’ll try and remember and implement them into my game!
Great video. There is so much wisdom imparted here for all of you youngsters. Take it from a 43 year old that cant throw anymore, do like he says and enjoy every minute of the game and relax and have fun. Baseball is a blessing and you wont realize it until you physically cant do it anymore.
Good life lesson for our kids who will soon become young men. One thing I will never forget from my old (over 18 years ago) woodshop teacher (who is now passed away 🙏) were his lectures once class was over. He always told us important life lessons. He really cared for us kids then. But one saying that got stuck in my head was to always "measure twice, cut once." As simple as it sounds in the construction world. It means more than that in life. Make sure you little guys keep what people tell you in mind! It goes a long wayand life's too short.✌
Thank you, I have watched all your videos multiple times and it's obvious you really love the game. I hope my hour glass has some sand left! I may have made a mistake getting Ablation surgery on my back. Love the heart you have for baseball!
Just wanted to say I really enjoy your video's. I started watching for tips to help my son for baseball, however these three wisdom ones I am going to show my high school rifle team next practice. What you point out really applies to most sports, even shooting. You explain things very well.
This was some great knowledge that I will pass on to my son, I like to hour glass part and I must say, I think I have been able to turn the hour glass over. I played baseball from age 5 until junior college and then walked away from the game. About 15 years later, I started playing 12" softball, got the drive back. A few years later, my son was born and I kept playing softball and was getting really good. Then I found an adult baseball league and I started playing BASEBALL again. At that same time, I started coaching my son and his little league team. So now, I'm 49 years old, coaching my son's 11U travel team and still playing baseball at a high level (I play in a league that is really an 18U league, though most of the players are in the late 20's, early 30's). So I flipped the hour glass!
Great videos dude, I’m using your videos to help my 9 year old improve his game and your advice and tips are great. Stuff you wouldn’t normally think of unless you played the game at a high level and it’s priceless information. Keep up the good work, it’s really helping
Great video, bro. Honestly, a lot of players, both coming up and established, need to hear stuff like this. Personally, last year, when I returned to baseball after some 20 years off, I tried way to hard to mimic Bryce Harper's hitting mechanics, and that got me nowhere. It wasn't until earlier this year that I was actually able to establish my own hitting mechanics, my own batting stance, my own everything, really. That helped me to become far more relaxed in the batter's box, as well as out in the field. And you can really only play your best if you are relaxed and 100% in the game.
Thanks Taylor, I really appreciate it! I completely agree. You have to develop your own swagger. There are certain fundamentals that should be present in every swing, but you have to make it your own.
Hit the nail on the head!! Great vid, love you applied it to actual life, sooo many lessons to learn on the field that can be applied to make a successful life🔥🔥🔥🔥
The second part with the hour glass hit me hard. I broke my left leg first and then I was out for the season. I broke my right one the year after and I was out for the season again. I stopped playing. That happened at the age 12 and 13. Now I’m 15 having such a desire to play again and I’m going to. But I remember taking practice for granted and everything u mentioned in that video. Really hit me hard
That's tough man. Sorry to hear about your injuries but I'm glad you're going to be able to play again. You're so right though, it's easy to take practice and everything for granted. We just have to realize that life is short and you only get one go at this thing! Better make the most of it!
Ultimate Baseball Training most definitely will. I’ve been playing since I was 5. I love baseball. Ur videos are gonna help me out a ton tho keep it up! 💪🏽💪🏽
Thanks for the awesome video and the great advice Those are truly words of baseball wisdom, i will also be sharing this video with my son for years to come!⚾️!
61 years old and still playing, thank goodness for the MSBL with a world series in Arizona and Florida every year but yes golden words to live by. One thing I have always scratched my head over is why is it that when pros retire do the majority of them never play amateur ball? Some of them do play, for example in 2014 the MSBL national division (mostly ex major and minor leaugers) played the championship game Roger Clemens pitched for the winning team vs Oil Can Boyd for the losers score was 5-4 or something but One thing that the major leagues killed was amateur baseball where the whole town would show up to watch guys play ball amateur games are still being played but with no huge crowds, the only cheers come from the teams themselves, what would happen if MLB baseball went out of business? I think that people would start going to amateur games again, at the turn of the century when the robber barons saw the potential money making in baseball it killed playing for the love of the game and turned it into big business.
Slayin Legends With Steven Baker .... I agree 100% and doing the same with son, his coaches & hopefully from there team & orginization. Kuddos Coach Justin and thank you!
Thank you man, really, that perfectionist one hit hard for me because I just had a horrible tournament and just could not hit. Like my head would be overloaded with my attack plan and my mechanics. Then, when I came back to the dugout I would know exactly what to do for another persons at-bat. And during my teammates at-bat I would be correct. This got to me good, thank you man. I really mean that.
To sum this up, in a sense focus on the moment. If you're focusing on mechanics during practice, do that. But during the game and at-bat, lock in and focus on the play by play because your "Ideal" swing may end in a grounder, and another swing that may have been horrible may get you a double in the gap.
Good video man and great wisdom given to us. Really good video keep it up.I used to have anger for not being the best. I would say I m not the best even if I closed the game or hit a good double. I would never be relaxed because I was afraid. But then my parents gave me advice and I relaxed more and played better . Good video man keep it up bye.
Great video! Regarding the "perfect swing mechanics", my son does the same thing. He looks great striking out! The problem his that is timing is way off, always late. Too much time on the tee maybe. Do you have any good drills for teaching how to modify the swing trigger point based upon different pitch speeds?
OMG. I need to play this for my son. Everything your saying is what I tell him. LOL he is a perfectionist. and he is only 8. But when I say something to him he doesn't listen but if he hears it from someone else, then he listens. that's how it goes. Great video!!!
Hey Justin, thanks for the video. Will be sharing with my boy. Do you have some tips for young pitchers that are worried about hitting the batter? My son throws great until a batter comes up. He is worried about hitting the batter an loses his mechanics/location. Thanks!
Great Video. My son plays both Little League and Club Ball. At 11 yrs old i still can't get him to stop throwing the helmet or crying after a strike out. I hope that he takes your advise and puts it to good use.
I'll try to do some more outfield videos soon! As for how to hit properly, I think this video is a great place for you to start: th-cam.com/video/keVyBnlHqCo/w-d-xo.html
Hey coach justin ive been playing baseball since i was 7 years old and just a year ago my nerve on my left elbow is flipping back and forth and i can't play baseball i want to play alot i miss playing cause this starting bothering since my first game and i have to sit on the bench cause how bad my injury is can u give me some advice to build up muscle for my left elbow so that nerve won't get worse
My boys are 10 and 8 and love this game. My 10 year old plays travel ball and my 8 year old is in little league. I always tell them and preach to them these things but I think coming from someone else and hearing it from someone else it's a big plus. Please keep making these kind of videos they are great especially for younger ball players thxs again
Grip is one of those things where you just have to get better by actually doing it. While you're at home watching TV, flip the ball up and try to get to a 4 seam grip as fast as you can. That'll really help and soon it will be second nature
When you have a long stretch of games and finally get an off day, take the time off. Get away from the game and go do something else fun. I would also really make sure your nutrition and your recovery is on point. Both of those things will really hold you back if you don't eat well and recover properly. Baseball can be a mental grind, so the last tip I have for you is to mentally push through it. Yes, it's a grind. It's a tough sport. It's a long season. But it teaches you a lot of valuable life lessons along the way. Keep on keepin' on!
That's part of the game, especially your first season. I recommend taking a look at my mental approach playlist and watching all of those videos. That will really help you out!
I like your vids, i am even subscribed to your facebook newsletter. But i suggest that you invest in a better mic. Sound quality captures the wind in most of your videos.
Thanks for the feedback and I'm glad you enjoy the videos. My windscreen fell off in this video and that's why the wind noise was creeping in. I ordered some new ones, so the new videos coming soon will be better!
Imma hot head when i make mistakes it leads to more and more mistakes, strikeouts also kill me tht dont let the highs get to high and dont let the lows get to low thing helps imma remember that
What do you tell a kid that never hits and always strikesout no matter how much you tell them it's ok and have fun and stay relaxed there confidence stays at an all time low
That's a tough one. I think it starts in practice. Confidence in your abilities is built through repetition and first having success in practice. You start believing in yourself and then some of that transfers over to games. I would focus on getting them to consistently square the ball up in practice. My guess is they currently are not - but when they start to get the hang of it, you'll see em crack a few smiles and start to get some confidence!
Thanks and no he's not squareing up on the ball he steps out before the pitch is even thrown has a nice swing he just has to get over his fear of being hit by the ball his dads ask me how do I not make my kid afraid of the ball I take a soft approach slow reputation gradually speeding things up with my own son I took a more aggressive approach so I just try to take the approach to a kids character but with the this praticular kid it's been a challenge hopefully he'll be teeing off by the end of the season thanks again
This is the first video my son has watched. I was nodding my head in agreement the whole time! Still remember my last game in high school... Very bittersweet moment in time!
Those are moments you'll always cherish forever! So glad you and your son enjoyed the video. I appreciate the continued support!
Justin, this is your absolute BEST video that I have EVER watched. In fact I think this is the best video that I have ever seen on TH-cam.
Wow! What an incredible compliment. Thank you very much for the support! I'm so glad you found this video helpful. I'll try to make more like this one!

That's an awesome lesson! I really like that. Thank you very much for watching and for the continued support.
Very Good!!! Thank you! These are things that need to be shared with young players, because hearing it from their dad is not the same.
Thanks Gary! I completely agree. Sometimes you just need to hear it from a different source!
OUTSTANDING words of wisdom for LIFE not just baseball!!
Thank you! I agree, this can totally be applied to other area of LIFE, not just baseball!
Thank you, I have watched all your videos multiple times and it's obvious you really love the game. I hope my hour glass has some sand left! I may have made a mistake getting Ablation surgery on my back. Love the heart you have for baseball!

You're my new coaching advisor. Funny thing is, I was literally just telling my son how it's important to relax and try and have fun.
Awesome James! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully this is helpful to your son

I'll try to do some more outfield videos soon! As for how to hit properly, I think this video is a great place for you to start: th-cam.com/video/keVyBnlHqCo/w-d-xo.html

Any tips on having a better grip on the ball ( as a catcher)
Grip is one of those things where you just have to get better by actually doing it. While you're at home watching TV, flip the ball up and try to get to a 4 seam grip as fast as you can. That'll really help and soon it will be second nature
Great job brother!
This is gold man ❤️
Thank you so much man!
Thanks a lot bro!! Great stuff!
You're welcome! Thank YOU for the support!
Thanks for the vid

You're welcome! Glad to hear that!
Hey coach. How can I deal with mid-season fatigue?
When you have a long stretch of games and finally get an off day, take the time off. Get away from the game and go do something else fun. I would also really make sure your nutrition and your recovery is on point. Both of those things will really hold you back if you don't eat well and recover properly. Baseball can be a mental grind, so the last tip I have for you is to mentally push through it. Yes, it's a grind. It's a tough sport. It's a long season. But it teaches you a lot of valuable life lessons along the way. Keep on keepin' on!
Ultimate Baseball Training thanks! Will definitely try all of this

Imma hot head when i make mistakes it leads to more and more mistakes, strikeouts also kill me tht dont let the highs get to high and dont let the lows get to low thing helps imma remember that
I dont strikeout alot so when i do i get mad thats what i meant 😂😂had to say it before anyone thinks i suck cuz i dont
Yeah my try to remember that and stay mellow!
Please can you make a video emphasizeing to Dad's and parents working with there kids just playing catch and how much it helps
Also after watching some videos I hit a homerun
That's AWESOME man!

Sounds good! Thanks for the support!
I’ve never understood why things like being angry after a mistake are viewed as bad. Would you not rather have somebody who cares?
I wish someone would have told me not to take the game for granted.
I agree.

I'm happy to hear that Nicolas!
