    For anyone who is going to say or whine that we are not allowed to search in the reichwald. We search at our own risk and know full well what the consequences are!

    This totally shows that British-Canada was totally an MVP & mastered of the jungle warfare and they were just better at it against the German in Reichwald Forest. Whereas the 12th Infantry of US army failed in Hurtgenwald Forest

    • @AfterWarDiggers
      @AfterWarDiggers  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your comment! The British-Canadian forces really proved themselves in the Reichwald Forest. The US 12th Infantry had a tough time in the Hürtgenwald, showing how difficult those battles were

      @@AfterWarDiggers even in the Eastern Front, on the other hand, the Soviet would avoid a battle in forest and find an alternate route to breakthrough the German line and reached Berlin as long as possible because they knew, fighting in the forest would be pain in the ass. Meanwhile British-Canada, I love how they just don't give a F about the thick forest in German and they just went full blast with their fire power to penetrated the Germany line in a forest. I think British Empire as a whole were a true MVP and unsung hero of WW2 that mastered all kind of war element such as jungle warfare insurgency, Air superiority by the RAF and Sea power by Royal Navy. I knew, the day British won Battle of Britain, the Western Front would got redeemed from the Axis.

    • @tab7madeup
      @tab7madeup วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Pretty much. In Hurtgen, the US suffered with 55000 casualties and 28000 casualties for the German. The battle was overshadowed by the Operation Market Garden disaster and then got erased by the Battle of the Bulge counterpart.
      However, I would say the Battle of Reichwald Forest (Operation Veritable) was even too often overlooked in the late of the war in Western front and it was overshadowed by the Operation Blockbuster and Operation Lumberjack (battle for Remagen Bridge). The reichwald forest battle was totally opposite result to what Hurtgen Forest was. British-Canada lost 12000 men while the German lost 44000 men. Yup, British Canada went ultimate insurgency blast in this one and totally crushed the German defense in Reichwald.

    How high is the chance to get Catcher while metal detecting in this forest?

    • @AfterWarDiggers
      @AfterWarDiggers  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The likelihood of getting caught while metal detecting in a forest depends on various factors, including the specific location, local regulations, and your own actions.

  • @SCARSOFEUROPE
    @SCARSOFEUROPE 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ive been here, with a metal detector. Almost got a nice paybill from the polizei with 9000 euros. And ofroad 150 euros. Dont begin to search here. Somebody has made the entire woods under fire because he left a bomb. Thats why the fine is so high.

    Meine Heimat, ich wohne direkt am Reichswald, ca 2 km hinter unserem Haus liegen die 1.Feldstellungen und Schützengräben, kenne dort noch eine Menge interessante Stellen. Hab jede Menge Oberflächenfunde in dem letzten Jahren gemacht. Schade, das dort nichts erhalten wird. Das meiste wird einfach zu geschüttet.

    • @AfterWarDiggers
      @AfterWarDiggers  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Das ist verständlich. Manchmal ist es frustrierend, wenn man beobachtet, wie historische Stätten und Funde nicht angemessen geschützt oder erhalten werden. Es kann sich entmutigend anfühlen, nichts dagegen tun zu können.
