Hey mike! Welk signaal gaf die helm? Voor als ik ga zoeken in de Ardennen dat ik zeker niet vergeet zulke signalen op te graven. Ik gebruik de Garrett Ace 400i
Hey Mike, I would love to see a video that would showcase some of the items you have found after you've cleaned them up. That helmet is awesome and I can't wait to see it once you've cleaned it. Would you maybe consider doing an update video on some of your finds? Also, I love the new intro!
Would love to and was planning to show it in this video, but the helmet didnt get much better then shown in the video. So decided not to edit in the cleaning part.
My Grandfather fought in that battle. He nearly died. He was left for dead . I have often wondered what lies there still. He received a purple heart for that battle. One of America's deadliest battles.
My father fought in the Ardennes and four other WWII campaigns. He would never really speak of it. The site where you were seems so serene and then the helmet with the bullet hole "speaks."
Hear that a lot. Veterans hardly speak or spoke about it, can imagine they would rather try to forget than to re-live it. Yeah it is very peaceful there now. Hard to imagine that there was such hardship and suffering there
5:35 Those were also used on M1 Garand cartridge belts. The one you show at 6:30 is smaller and from a Pistol Belt which had a bunch of eyelets to attach different pieces of gear. If you look them up, you'll see what I mean. Great finds!
Mike, about the ammo, it is safe especially if you get a bullet puller and remove the projectile. I couldn't tell you about the legality of selling them from your end, but we find them for sale over here in the States. if the time is taken to clean them and they aren't damaged you might get a few hundred bucks for a thousand of them. they have a steel core. as for the grenades, ohhhh do not handle them please. when they are new you pull the pin, release the lever as you throw and a little firing pin is unsprung to hit a primer. the primer isn't what makes it boom. below the primer is a probably thin metal tube. in it are 2 chemicals and when the tube is broken the chemicals mix and in 3 to 5 seconds it explodes the grenade. SO as old as they are they don't need the primer from the pin. if the tube of chemicals is about to fall apart then dropping it might set it off. or not but its not safe like the bullets and 1000 times more deadly. dig dig dig. David yes I saw the glass mine parts.
yeah perhaps I could get a bullet puller to 'disarm' the rounds. But thing is when I'm out there I just want to cover some grounds and not be working on taking apart rounds. But thanks for the tip, might consider getting one.
My Uncle rode into the Bugle with Patton after it was done he was a tanker. The only thing he told me it wasn't good when they relieved the troops that's all he said an that was it he never spoke of it again. Your vids are great I see that with old live ordinance you take a risk. Thumbs up 👍👍
