The hardest part of playing f1 22 on controller was that between side to side movements the wheel would stop for a second in the middle, making chicanes much harder, hopefully this will improve

Yup, huge issue on controller. Along with the delay when turning. Its like you gotta move your thumb left or right in a turn .5 seconds before it actually does it.

Playing F1 22 or previous with controller was very difficult, but in F1 23 is so smooth and I can even make corrections with the oversteering. It's great. I feel that it twists the wheel much abruptly while in F1 22 was so slow that if you had a oversteer, you were lost from the beginning.
Any one of you can be a competitive controller player. It just takes practice and a keen eye to know what you're looking for. I was the only controller player in a race one time and I came 8th. If you feel the car starting to skid on its way around a corner, it just takes a flick or two flicks of the stick the opposite way. You'll correct the slide

I have a wheel (it broke 8 months ago), but despite having a wheel, I could just never get used to using it on the F1 games.
Loving the content keep up the great work. Would love your recommendation on what set up I could get Atm it’s controller but I need more realism so a direct drive wheel and it sounds like load cell pedals are a must too. Not looking to break the bank but realise quality costs. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

Mostly the joysticks, but in GT7 I use the motion sensor steering, which is kind of like a steering wheel, if that's what you're asking :)
Playing with Controller (on PS5), hope they fixed the sudden highspeed spins in fast corners.
I have a knackered right knee, and so a wheel setup is out of the question. Controller it is!

i played all simulator games (GT7, F1, AC, ETS, ATS) with controller coz i cannot afford a steering wheel , i never know how its feel play simulator games with wheel, and simulator games are the only games i played :)
I find u can use a wheel for f1 23 it's a lil bit harder if ur playing in amateur or harder

When i see „sponsored by ea” it just says to me he is gonna tell us that pads are better
for a fair test you should do it on the full release and with a controller user, as they would know more about the controller then a wheel user. so this is pritty much a waste of time... like another point thats saddly missed Senna winning most races at a track.
I had to cut out, if your not experienced on controller anymore. Have someone who is do the comparison. Period

Craziest part is controller users are the fastest on average even against the best sim racers using wheels. No hate towards either it shouldnt be about being an elitist or whats best. Its what do you like most? I was a sim racer its a game changer for immersion but had some issues with my body so im stuck on controller again. All good!!

The ps5 controller is a game changer. Adaptive triggers work. It helps with gas and breaking so so much. Ps5 is a must on this game. Its like having a wheel advantage with pressure.
Im so happy they dont have traction control on f1 2023 it should always be this way. The most advanced racers dont use traction control on wheel or controller. This is how you should learn as in competition they do not use it.
Also 2022 was way worse unlike what you said.

Last year I bought and used a wheel but it is worthless when the pedals dont provide force feedback on braking. Laptimes on the wheel after playing 4 weeks were 1 second slower...I sold the wheel and playseat, the controller is much more relaxed and faster in my experience, purely because of the feedback during brakong. I play without assists and use cockpit view. I dont know if pro pedals provide force feedback, but if they would be expensive i guess. I would surely give it a try.
Gotta spend the money for the good ones. It's a game changer for immersion but I will agree that controller can be best for laps.
I think it’s the other way around controllers/pad users that are good have the advantage. Easier to move a finger over a whole body part.

Controllers really confuse me, Playstation have gyro controls so you can sort of use it like a wheel but for some reason you just can't on console. I've been using gyro on assetto corsa on PC and it hasn't been that bad apart from braking being so sharp
You can it works very well on GT 7 on PS5

@@mshah27 yeah i agree the ps5 controller with all its haptics are very rarely utilised. I recently got the new isle of Man TT game which would work so much better with gyro but not available to use 👎

Id rather they fix the A.I in F1 2023. I dont want to have to witch off collisions because the A.I just drive straight into you.
Honestly done quicker laps on controller, just takes time and alot of practice to be smooth. My friend on steering wheel struggles to match my lap times

@@MotivateMastery12 wheel is smoother thru corners onsome tracks. Like saudi, my mates very good at. But honestly. I win 9 times out of 10. Equal peformance cars, im usualy 5 tenths faster a lap

I just cant do it on my old gen Xbox cause of the brake lock its just terrible
On f1 21 with ps5 controller i was able to run 110 AI comfortably but with 22 i striggled past 85 ai. Pretty sure rhats my current setting anyways

Brother, that's literally the basics of handling a controller. What you don't seem to see, maybe bcs you're slow in the game, is the delay the wheel had in f1 22 while moving the joystick. Now there is not this problem in f1 2e

I'll be playing on controller and excited to hopefully start competing with wheel users further I hope? I wanted to ask if anybody knew, is ABS any different from 22? It's an assist I'm looking to turn off but was wanting to understand if it's been improved/changed in any way shape or form. Thanks :)
not really, except for the brake bias ofcourse
23 is the first game I can confidently driver with no assists at all on controller , best advice drive with 56 or 56 brake bias at first brake hard while straight then start lifting as you turn and you will eventually get the hang and feel for it
I today start on controler because wheel currently is impossible for me and i am multiple seconds off the pace and i cant even handle no TC.. could you share me your controller settings ? Your controler fell like its way smooth and more clear on steering than mine... or youre just smooth :D
I was quite fast on controller on F1 21 but then I switched to a wheel (after people were saying it was faster). It took me months to get back to my regular controller pace. I must admit feeling traction on controller is miles easier since you have vibration but with practice the wheel is way more worth it. Very immersive too.
Keep practicing and you'll get there eventually, what helped me was changing my throttle linearity settings easier to manage with no assists
Make R2 L2 GEARS. R3 for acceleration and braking

@@Patch3z666Every wheel has buttons on it, so it's possible, but experience will be much worse than on pedals.
@@aleksandarjokic5083 lol. Yes possible but not optimal. Need those buttons for other inputs rather than throttle and brake. Pedals are very much needed.

The best game for controller is still f1 2012
F1 22 was EASILY the worst F1 to play on controller, the game in its self is probably bottom 3 as well! It’s sad because I played the F1 games without fail for about 5 years prior to 22, the game was just that bad it made me stop playing and I regret that massively, coming back to the game and seeing how much of an improvement 23 is stupid!
