To answer the question about the bunkers wall. It was reinforced concrete . Japan built hundreds possiblity thousands of bunkers all over the area of the Pacific that fell under their control. The artillery you where standing near look to be a type 10 120mm antiaircraft and ship weapon. As I am not 100% sure as most Japanese artillery looked very similar and just varied in size. In the bomb bunker the I beam would have had a chain hoist swinging below it to help move the ordnance both in and out of the bunker. Actually entering there can be very dangerous as though well constructed the rebar in many cases was uncoated and exposed to salt air. So when it was put into the concrete mixtures of the time that contained high lime content. So over time as the rebar rust it creates a gas in the concrete and can cause huge chunks if it to blow out and injure or kill people in them. Here in Pensacola at Fort Pickens the orignal fort is fine but the structures build from the 1890s to the 1940 are now closed and no access is allowed due to this issue. Just be safe

While watching this video at 12.40 of the video that speak really touches me cause in the past week I’ve been really low in life and felt like my life was coming to a end thank you Robert for doing these videos for all of us to watch and enjoy
Saipan was the location of one of the bloodiest battles the US and Imperial Japan fought during WW2. Civilians jumping off cliffs with their children because the Japanese told them the US Marines would torture and rape them, and US Marines and Navy personnel with megaphones begging them to stop. Photographs and film of it all happening as well. Pretty fucked up shit.
My house is where the deadliest battle happened they call it death valley its really cool, but super haunted. when i was a kid you can start digging and i found 2 japanese helmets 2 bucket full of shells broken rifles. Sometimes if you stay outside late enough you can hear like people running through the jungle and there are no animals around ny house.

Thanks for showing the beauty and history of Saipan. My home for 17 years. I love it there. Wish I was back there now.
I love the fact that there have not been any idiots with spray cans in any of the bunkers / buildings. keep up the great videos Rob.
I thought the same. Amazing how a culture can teach their young people to not be delinquents.
@@Florida_Man_Robb oh we are delinquents, just in different ways. There are abandoned buildings with spraypaint on them, like the abandoned lighthouse, but they are few, especially comparing them to mainland US.
Besides, most of the people here have family or family friends who died at these places, they would rather not do anything to disturb them.
It was Your People... With the spray cans... That you labeled as "delinquents".... Fyi...

Shawty Mack Bro delinquency amongst the youth and young adults is common world wide. Don’t make it about the BLM cause if you were Born and raised there you’ll know what rjbtoo is talking about. If you’re wondering yes I was born and raised there, we aren’t talking shit about our people. Taotao Tano Finu Chamorro yan Refaluwasch!
It's really awesome seeing Saipan again which was my home for 12 years on this video. I now live in Toronto, thank you for bringing me back home.
Cool to see everything about Saipan Rob!
Finally!!! 😁Been watching for a year or so and am so proud that you have love for these islands. Loads of love to you and your family, GOD BLESS.
Yes you are absolutely right about the wood grain in the concrete. Lumber was used to frame it in and once they pulled the wood down the impression of the wood was left behind. Looks like an amazing place
Your girls are getting so big from when I started watching you in my eyes you are an amazing person and have an amazing family and I would love to just be able to hang out and fish with you enjoy yourself
Been watching rob since 2016. I often ask myself what TH-camr is my favorite. And knowing all of the channels that have come and gone in my feed over the years it makes it easy to
Say that you Robert are the best and most entertaining TH-camr in my opinion. My gf and I have seen every video twice and that’s why I’m writing this comment. You are the goat of cc&c’s and the perfect role model for any young man. Keep doin what your doin
Never thought I would see you and your family go to my Home!!!! I was so excited seeing you in Rota with PK! Now your in Saipan woohoo
As a US Marine Corps Veteran the battle of Saipan is huge in our legacy and history. Getting to see you and your wife explore and talk about what when down down there gave me goosebumps. Thank you for another amazing video and the positive outlook you have on life. I can’t want to explore the island more through your experiences there! God bless! 🇺🇸
Man when I grow older I wanna be like rob, such a kind and joyful person, he’s living the life we all wanna live when we grow older
Who can do it better! Combining hunting with history and willing to embrace other cultures and their ways of living...it just a WOW. I enjoyed watching all your videos.
I was born on Saipan. I haven't been back in 30 years, good to see the old place. Top notch vid, keep up the good work!
Thank you Rob and Sarah for reiterating and reminding us all of the importance for remembering and honoring history. You are correct that freedom is not free. I look forward to your adventure
The I-beam attached to the ceiling is the trolly system they used to move the bombs.
Been following you for a few months. Been watching your CNMI shows and I have to say that you have made me proud! I lived in Guam for a few decades but now reside stateside. Your show was the first to visit the Marianas and I am glad that you, your family and crew were able to showcase my home! Thank you!
1.4k likes in 20 minutes, gotta love this guy and his family
Hafa Adai!!! I was born on Guam and raised on Saipan. My husband is active duty military so it has brought us to the mainland, but many of my family members are still there. Watching your video has made me miss home so much. I’m so glad that you are able to share our island and history with the rest of the world.
Hope you enjoy the Marianas Rob! The land of the “Happy people” 🤙🏾
I was blessed to be on a work team there on Saipan in February helping them recover from super typhoon Yutu. It was an honor, beautiful island and people. It was wonderful seeing your video of the island and hearing your comments. Truly an amazing place. Enjoy!
Thank you for lending a hand 🙏🏽 we are forever grateful
Robert is one of the most inspirational persons I’ve ever seen
Stay safe Mr. Arrington! Nothing but safe travels and a healthy return!!! Praying for you and your family, God bless!!
imagine being greeted by the governor after landing! proud of you rob! known you since you barely had 100k subs, look at you now!
Hands down, the best produced video by DMFD thus far!!! I could not have loved this any more!!! I think I had goosebumps for 90% of the video!
Omg my son is headed there as part of the USNavy C.B.s help with rebuilding efforts. How cool to see you head there. Very cool
can do!
Times like this and places like that are good reminders not to take anything for granted... Every day is a gift!!!
Oh wow, who thought Robert and his crew were going to go hunting or fishing on a famous battlefield of WWII?
Kindly share for this is the closer of all mankind during WW2. 🌴🏝🌈🌞
I'm only halfway through the video you're telling me he's not going to catch a fish
This is cool. My neighbors are Sai Pan here at Ft. Campbell. I swear to you they are some of the sweetest, most kind, grateful, best cooks, in the world. Love those people. All of them that we get to meet are literally the same way. Genuine good people!
Stay safe Arrington clan! Can’t wait to see what’s in store!
While watching this video at 12.40 of the video that speak really touches me cause in the past week I’ve been really low in life and felt like my life was coming to a end thank you Robert for doing these videos for all of us to watch and enjoy
19mins ago I didn’t know Saipan existed.
well that’s because y’all were never taught your history. Saipan is paradise
@@vjigitol1721 im from palau
Saipan is a part of micronesia and im from Palai it is also a part of it
My house is where the deadliest battle happened they call it death valley its really cool, but super haunted. when i was a kid you can start digging and i found 2 japanese helmets 2 bucket full of shells broken rifles. Sometimes if you stay outside late enough you can hear like people running through the jungle and there are no animals around ny house.
Thank You Sir for your love of our Marianas Islands and for making it well known in a positive way!. we're glad you and your family are enjoying your tour of the Islands!
The instant I saw those cliffs, chills went up and down my spine. Through books and documentaries, I knew the story behind them before you even mentioned them.
Awesome video Robert, bless you and your family
"True representative TH-camr" here, DeerMeatForDinner! I shared this video already to almost 30 people already and they just LANDED in Saipan.
I'm living in Saipan and for as long as I live here I will never in my entire life forget what life is like here. overall it's an amazing place to stay cause of all the wildlife and all the things to do here I personally love it here and I hope people who visit will love it too.
You're right about the wood grain in the concrete. They built wooden "forms" on the inside and the outside and poured the concrete.
This was common practice in even the U.S. At that time period.
Its really cool to watch rob. Your kids are going to look back and see what a amazing family and adventure they have/had. I’m happy for your success. I watch my dad, you and it’s such a inspiration.
I needed to hear those words of wisdom today
I want to go to Saipan. Thank you for making these videos and kept giving people ideas and locations to try for themselves.
I love how you make time for your fans and acknowledge them. There's many TH-camrs who don't do that.
Thank for being real and original. Y'all can see you're the same on and off screen, on stage or backstage, same Robert. Thank you for being genuine.
Keep up the good work.😊
My grandfather was in Saipan. Chief Petty Officer in the Navy.
Thanks for all the amazing shots and places there. Spent a month there in '71 and wasnt able to get to all the places you did! Appreciate all.
It’s so crazy seeing someone from the states coming out to the Marianas and educating everyone about our beautiful islands. Not a lot of people know about us! Si Yu’os Ma’åse!
Saipan is discussed in US schools, especially during the subject of WW2 history in the Pacific. In fact, when I was in Highschool, I did my senior year research project on it (this was 11 years ago).
@@nateseng2874 True, I noticed that not a lot of schools tell about the strategic importance of the Marianas Islands during WWII. For example being one of the biggest airfields in U.S History and holding the "Fat Man" and "Little Boy" Bombs.
You are spot on, it was from wood frames. Keep up great show. As a disabled outdoorsman, I get to live these adventures through you! Thank you!!! ✌️
Ayeee my Home Island !!! Your at the North Point of the island aye. Living in Houston Texas atm. I just saw this guy with one of my homie back home and he fcken went to the northern islands !! What island did you went to Pagan? Or did you when further up north ?Anyways I Can’t wait to see that video man !!!!!
Have fun and stay safe ! This is a trip you guys will never ever forget and I think it’s awesome !! Especially for your children , they are so lucky to have these amazing memories and opportunities ! Looking forward to the videos and I’ll pray for a safe trip for you guys !
Jocko podcast has a ww2 vet would recalls his experience in Saipan
Rob my dad fought there. Both on Saipan and Tinian. Carrying a flamethrower and a demolition expert in the 2nd division Marine Corp. The greatest toughest man I ever knew. Still my hero to this day. He didn't consider himself one. He said, " My country asked me to do a job. I did my job!" Thank you Kenneth James DeRose Sr. For all you did. You will live in honor forever. SEMPER Fi.
You're living the life man, keep it up you'll get hate but they're just jealous
Haters are gonna hate, it’s up to us to show them the light though. God bless!🙏
@@jcdesignsandboat-works8290 true man and apparently I'm I'm subscribed to you... post some more content lol
Houston is my hometown and I was so happy to hear you were in town!!! We are happy and proud to have you here rob!! God bless you guys always! Thanks for stopping by even if it was just for a quick second ! Love you champ!!!!
When are you all coming to South Africa?? We have alot of history here too...
Rob diving with white sharks down there would be incredible!
Thought i was the only za here😂
Definitely I second that! We would love to see you here. There is so much here besides the history, hunting, fishing and two different oceans that meet, warm water and cold that meet.
Rob, we the world don't deserve you🙄 iv been watching you for years, and seeing how much you have accomplished for your family you my friend are an inspiration, and I hope to one day to accomplish even a small amount of what you have. I love to see how you stay true to your roots, and your as humble as the earth itself God bless you ❤
I am currently 21, my father committed suicide by shooting himself with a shotgun when I was 12, it broke me, and i was always too young to understand why, and always wish he could have found a way through it, no one saw it coming, not even anyone in our family knew he was struggling, he just woke up one day and went and did it.
Its ok, to not be ok people, please talk if you are feeling down.
Omg I am so sorry 😢
Sorry to hear this, hope your in a good place now brother
Truly sorry to hear that.
Wow I am broke now may he Rest In Peace. A father is an important thing for a kid
Thank you to all the comments, missing out on my teenage years with him, and especially the rest of my life is truly a nightmare! I just wish if anyone ever feels the same, to talk to someone, because you are all loved and will all be leaving someone behind who will miss you more than you will ever know! Big love!
But your educational and fun to watch. You are also so blessed to have a loving family to share these experiences with us, thank you
I WAS DOOPED! There was no Catching, cleaning or cooking involved. Still a pretty cool video though I guess 😂
Still a cool video i guess! It's bit of history that most care less about these days.
I don't know the guy but he is someone we all should aspire to be. Say something positive about good people. Please
@@iowna77 Yeah the suicide cliffs part got me, I didn't know that but it's interesting yet sad
I suffer from depression since 4th grade I've been put in a mental hospital 3 times and Rob talking about around the corner there will be a brighter day for some reason that motivated me alot idk why it just did
Hope you having a meet and greet before leaving this lovely island of saipan..
WOW I'm a Marine and I've studied WWII Pacific Theater for many years. I never saw the Bomb Storage or the command bunker in any of the many books I've read. The views of the Suicide Cliffs are so heart wrenching they brought tears to my eyes remembering the Combat footage from the battle. I served with WWII Marines they were the best America had. I'm looking forward to the coming videos. Thank you so much.
I was literally just thinking I haven’t seen a new DMFD vid in a little and log on to see this lol
I was born and raised in Guam, but my grandfather is from Saipan. LOVE THIS!!! REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS!!!
We lost alot of Good young Marines on that Island.
I wish I could say thank you to each of them. They are heros!
And the japanese and people of the pacific islands lost loads men too dont forget them.
@@Jordo1981 they wouldn't have if they didn't start it to begin with.
@@Jordo1981 So many Asians suffered immense pain because of Japan. And they don't feel sorry for that. And yes, we will not forget.
@@Jordo1981 as an asian american that was born an raised in America, my appreciation for the country and the people that sacrificed to make this country as amazing as it is, is beyond words.
Spent 5 years in Guam, 97 thru 2002, most wonderful people you will ever meet. Been to Saipan a couple of times. Having lived there and seeing what our boys had to fight in/on is very emotional.
DMFD, is it weird that I first remember you on an episode of Monster Quest?
I so saw that. Humbolt squid masquerading as Arciteuthis Dux. Loved seeing him doing what he likes.
Do you remember what episode?
Gage Rice the one where they went searching for a giant squid in Mexico.
DMFD Rob! The metal track in the ceiling was to move the heavy munitions around the storage shed. I was in the Navy and most of the buildings even today still have that heavy steel track built in the ceiling to move everything and anything heavy. This is an EPIC video I absolutely love you an your family but especially the way you take the time and include the history and knowledge you pick up along your travels. I just can't wait for your next big adventure once the docs sign off on your health. Praying that happens sooner rather than later. Love to you and yours from me and mine!!!🥰🥰🥰
