I served 20 years in the USN, from the age of 19, putting my life on the line daily until I retired from active duty 13 years ago. It brings a tear to my eye and chokes a guy up every time I see someone I look up to express their feelings about how seeing the buildings, reading the plaques & memorials and how they make you appreciate the men and women who fought to protect our freedoms, quality of life and Stars & Stripes of the USA. You are a humble, honest and true man amongst men Robert Arrington!

To answer the question about the bunkers wall. It was reinforced concrete . Japan built hundreds possiblity thousands of bunkers all over the area of the Pacific that fell under their control. The artillery you where standing near look to be a type 10 120mm antiaircraft and ship weapon. As I am not 100% sure as most Japanese artillery looked very similar and just varied in size. In the bomb bunker the I beam would have had a chain hoist swinging below it to help move the ordnance both in and out of the bunker. Actually entering there can be very dangerous as though well constructed the rebar in many cases was uncoated and exposed to salt air. So when it was put into the concrete mixtures of the time that contained high lime content. So over time as the rebar rust it creates a gas in the concrete and can cause huge chunks if it to blow out and injure or kill people in them. Here in Pensacola at Fort Pickens the orignal fort is fine but the structures build from the 1890s to the 1940 are now closed and no access is allowed due to this issue. Just be safe

The Japanese Commander told his troops to fight to the death, and told the civilians, the lies about US GI's hurting women and children if caught, so there would be no one left on the island to capture, but some civilians and soldiers were captured alive and treated very well. which proved to them that US GI's were not evil

I am absolutely in awe of you. You overwhelm me with your intelligence and zest for life. I love the fact that you are a true patriot for the U S A. You praising the brave men who fought and sacrificed for our generations is truly astounding in this age of criticism and strife. I wish every person in the U S could see your videos, especially those in Congress and the administration today. Maybe we would have a better world. When you mentioned the suicide cliffs (which I didn't know about) it brought back memories of my oldest son who committed suicide. If he could have seen a better future, he might still be with us. Thank you so much for your positivity and wonderful videos. God bless you, Sarah, Aria, and Emma. May he watch over you forever. TGBTG

Saipan was the location of one of the bloodiest battles the US and Imperial Japan fought during WW2. Civilians jumping off cliffs with their children because the Japanese told them the US Marines would torture and rape them, and US Marines and Navy personnel with megaphones begging them to stop. Photographs and film of it all happening as well.

our freedoms here in the USA! My late uncle, who was a hero to me, ran the gauntlet at Anzio beach
in Italy during WWII. He was severely wounded but survived. And I’m SOO THANKFUL for his sacrifice
and service to not only our country, but our family as well. He’s been gone for a few years now, but I’m
soo honored and blessed to have known him and more importantly, the history lessons that he passed on
to our family. Rob, you are absolutely correct when you said FREEDOM IS NOT FREE!
May God bless your family richly and I pray that God will show us all the way to love one another and
LEARN from our past history, and as you put it..” look for brighter days ahead!!”
