You tutorial videos are the best on TH-cam. You give the exact step by step instructions unlike some of the other tutorials I have seen where they have only music and Captions where they skip a few steps on captions. You make unlocking and rooting simple for those people who are not as tech inclined. I fortunately am inclined in PC Mac/ Linux Android and IOS systems. Also you save people so much time by having the download files compiled and ready available. I wish i had tutorials like this when I was learning systems and coding with ADB. Keep up the wonderful tutorials for everyone my friend told me about this video who is not tech savvy but after watching your tutorials he rooted his phone and he was like I didn't without your help feeling accomplished so thank you for making people feel proud and accomplished for teaching them how to be techie.and not having to rely on a pro to do for them.

The reason unlocking the bootloader usually performs a factory reset was actually originally designed to protect your data. That’s because back in 2010s, Android didn’t encrypt user data, so unlocking without factory reset would just bypass any screen lock and allow the thief to see your personal info. The "OEM unlocking" option under developer options was actually originally supposed to temporarily disable this factory reset protection (or FRP for short), so that unlocking wouldn’t erase your data, but it would re-enable itself after reboot if you didn’t unlock bootloader. However, on modern devices, which encrypt data, there isn’t much reason to factory reset, so companies do it just to annoy the user (if you know of another reason, let me know).
when at... "fastboot oem unlock" it says and it just stays there for minutes and nothing happens. i tried both commands in windows 10. windows says the best drivers are installed but i can't find my one plus phone in device manager nevermind......... i used the most trusted os........ linux

figured it out! type: adb kill-server followed by adb start-server in CMD (on device) Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging -- switch off and on [Windows] Make sure you have the proper driver (your best bet is Universal Adb Driver by Koushik Dutta -- will handle any device)

try bootloader maybe. cd means going in a directory, which fastboot is a folder located outside of available storage/emulated/0 (or which is yours) you can go in.

Late reply, sorry. I know it doesn't matter anymore. When you unlock bootloader device security functions can't work and that means that your data can be exploited (someone can hack your phone). So their way to protect your data is to erase them. Stupid i know

One word, Xiaomi. Edit: if you specifically want to root it, then just look for any old flagship phone you like with good hardware for that price. LG phones are cheap now, and they have excellent hardware.

I have just the same issue with a phone with android 4. 2. 1, general mobile. It just restarts itself and cuts the connection with the PC, then reconnect after restarting, same thing happens when i type as "adb reboot-bootloader" and after that happens, I type "fastboot flashing unlock" on cmd anyways, cmd stucks with "< waiting for any device >". 🙁
what would you recomend if the phone gets stuck at powered by android after the adb reboot bootloader command? to further clarify, when i executed command the phone rebooted immediately and went to "powered by android."

every time I try this on my Mac it moves fastboot out of my downloads folder automatically and fails the boot loader unlock command.

i have samsung tab e 8in and i see the device under ADB devices but when ever i send a FASTBOOT command nothing happens it just says waiting for any device. and i already used OEM unlock from the developer menu. when i use the ADB reboot bootloader it restarts the devices but wont enter the fastboot mode
it dosen,t show adb interface anywhere in my device manager. i unplugged my phone and plugged it back in and it still dosen,t show it.

When you say the process will erase everything on the phone do you mean that the device will be completely empty or do you mean that everything I have entered and installed will be erased?
i read in XDADevelopers that if i unlock the bootloader the phone will enter into bootloop. If i lock it again, will the bootloop vanish?
Hello friend, congrats for the videos and information. I have a Samsung Galaxy A5 SM-A500M and OEM Unlocking is no available. I really try many ways to access this option, and any works... ( change the time & date, by odin etc). Is been impossible to install TWRP and install Custom OS ROM ... please could you help me? This device is one of them that is impossible to acess OEM Unlocking?? Tks a lot
Hi I have one problem. After typing fastboot flashing unlock it wont bring the screen asking me if to unlock bootloader. it says that Device is already unlocked
i got to the part where you type adb reboot bootloader in cmd and that command dose not work for me. for me it says thats not recognised as a command. whats the comand for windows 10.
When I do adb reboot bootloader my phone just reboots back to Android not the bootloader. Please help!

I have just the same issue with a phone with android 4. 2. 1, general mobile. It just restarts itself and cuts the connection with the PC, then reconnect after restarting, same thing happens when i type as "adb reboot-bootloader" and after that happens, I type "fastboot flashing unlock" on cmd anyways, cmd stucks with "< waiting for any device >". 🙁

what would you recomend if the phone gets stuck at powered by android after the adb reboot bootloader command? to further clarify, when i executed command the phone rebooted immediately and went to "powered by android."
