It's called fly tipping if you put your rubbish in someone else's bin. And there's rarely room for your own rubbish, it only gets emptied every 3 weeks. Mine have chains around them now. So sick of dealing with other people's rubbish

I grew up in a council estate when I was a kid and we would never treat any of our neighbours like this, this was quite common😂 if you ain’t filled it up why not just let someone use it, people used to let my mum use there’s especially round my birthday and Christmas as the toy boxes would amount to quite a bit when filling up the 1 bin they give you. An act of kindness goes a long way.

My neighbours can use my bin whenever they like. It's not an issue as it's never full. We help each other out. The neighbour will actually come round and put the bin back in even if they haven't used it and vice versa

I’ll never forget as a child I hated my packed lunch so after school I would throw it in the neighbors trash weeks later that neighbor told my parents. I never thought people looked in their trash cans as a child.

We told our neighbours if they couldn't fit their rubbish in the bin and that if there was room in ours use it.
Its what neighbours do. little things help the comunity and keeps the street clean. rather then rubbiah blowing down the road.
Go do some inner soul searching and make inner peace with yourself and be nice to people. some good neihbours even put on a free BBQ every month in their street just to bring community together.

The problem is that he could be putting something into the bin which could be illegal to do so. And if a council official was to do unannounced checks on them and found that item, he could be prosecuted for it. And that’s why the other person has no rights to dispose of his rubbish in someone else’s bins.

The trash cans belong to a house, but is not owned by the user of the house. It is owned by the local government. This old guy is well within his rights. The waste management department would advise him to act this way even.

It's a politeness you ask if your neighbour minds if you use his bin. If boot on the other foot, would the old guy be so helpful? What's she filling up her bin with if she's only just come out of hospital. Dressings are a possible bio-waste hazard and should be put out for disposal in yellow hazardous waste bags if she's having dressing changed 4 times a day...

The older guy should apply for a jumbo sized (like twice as big) bin (eg for for adult nappies for the elderly). The council will provide these if asked.
