I used PPG shop line JP202 primer surfacer on this and I used sherwin Williams Dimension base. The primer is a good cheap primer and the base was what I could get that day neither one or anything special but both work just fine

I want to do that old Chevy blue color on top. Anyway I’m hoping not to spend over $500. Like you I’m not too worried about small dents . I may replace a fender on the passenger side . I’ve got ideas about making it a shortbed too so obviously that’s way more than $500! I got a lot of ideas in my head ! If you look at my channel there’s a video on the 67c10.
@@ksduathlete if you’re wanting a glossy finish I definitely recommend going basecoat clearcoat and make sure you buy a clearcoat that is easy to buff. Only reduce your base 25% and spray it 75% overlap. Use a tack cloth between coats put an extra coat of clear so that you can send some off if you have to buff.

@@cdnbroncolife1889 71994 is the upper radiator hose # but if I had a truck water pump It may not work. I am running the LS1 Camaro water pump. But it does look like I cut this hose to fit so it might would work on the truck style if it wasn’t cut
It has 2 thick coats of 2021clear, 1 coat of the blue so it was easy to sand off, 2 coats of the black primer. It’s starting to have issues where the black shows threw. Because the black does not have UV protection.
I wasn’t a fan of it myself. The body gaps and overall condition of the body is pretty rough. Thanks to thin aftermarket parts. So this was the cheapest easiest way to paint the truck and stop the rust. It turned out much better looking than I expected. People love it. I can’t even stop at a red light with out people complimenting it.
Thank you. I’d have to agree. I can always sand the clear with 800 or wash it with a scotch pad to give it the flat look where I want it and be shiny where I want like the real thing.
@@arlenmartin8672 you don’t need anything fancy but it it’s much easier to achieve with a good gun. But do not go cheap on the clear coat. I did not polish / buff this truck.
Sorry to bother you again but about how long did you wait to spray the blue over the black and how long did you wait to sand through after spraying. Also how long did you wait before you did the clear coat.
It look dope you can actually whipe and wax the clear so you have a clean patina not a dingy dusty patina truck that looks dirty. Don’t get me wrong patina with out clear is bad as well
Judging by everyone’s reaction now verses when it was black for 4 years. I’d definitely say people like the “Store bought jeans with holes in it” much better lol 🤘🏼 But just like I said in the beginning of the video. The body on this thing fits like hell with all the aftermarket parts. Painting it correctly, all black would look horrible. Besides there are thousands of black c10s on the street. I’ve yet to see another patina blue c10, but yes I’m sure they are out there. I appreciate you watching, commenting, and giving your opinion on it.

The high gloss over faux-tina really works! Great job. What was the color you sprayed over the black? Is it a super light powder blue?

Yeah the color doesn’t pick up on camera very well. sometimes it looks white. sometimes it looks gray but it’s a nice baby blue in person.

No buffering I just turn up the pressure and hammer it on to make the high solids clear slick out.

I made a fuel cell and mounted it to the frame rail just like the 1973 and newer trucks.
I believe you sanding with a 320 paper right ?.
I sanded the blue with 600 and then used a red scotch bright to get the it to look more natural.

Why does everyone clear their Patina with gloss? They make Matte clear coats that would alot more realistic.
Just preference. But it definitely irritates some people to see fake patina.

There’s black metal primer, then gray filler primer, on the body work. Then I sprayed black base, blue base, then clear 🥵
