Thats like a Half squat without any awareness. So friends get good wooden stool from a carpenter atleast for childrens.
And figure out some kind of movement you can do to break up hours of sitting to prevent the body tightening up to stabilize instead of learning to use anatomy (not overly tight fascia) to stabilize.
So, our bodies health is dictated by the type of job we have! When I have been at home and without work, I have been the healthiest in my life, because my body tells me when I need a change from sitting or standing or anything else. Unfortunately at the office we just cant get up an move around! No wonder everyone is grumpy!!!!
That's a great realization. In essence we need to listen to our body. Totally agree that we don't have much choice when doing a desk job. I feel working from home is the best way to work as it also allows us to take care of ourselves. I guess a lot of us would have realized this during the pandemic.

Yes, there are contradictory beliefs. Some say tilt is best while others say having sway in the lower back is best. Personally I think sitting is the problem. We've only sat a very few short years ago. Before that we squatted. At 70 I've been squatting as much as possible even when picking something up although it's pretty tough in our society.

If possible try to sit on wooden stool for a period of a year whenever you feel like . Slowly your body unknowingly will shift to squat positive . I ve overcome this problem.
@@vilesh8543 my grandfather was farmer, he and his friends always use to sit in squat positions for almost all sit-down hangouts, and my generation use to feel weird why they sit like a monkeys and i can see the difference in long run my parents got slip disc problems but my grandparents and their friends never got that. trust me slip disc is worst thing. final suggestion if you are facing back pains because of this new position, try drinking a glass of cherry juice on a daily basis, (if possible)
If a chair presses into your back in the wrong spots you will deform your posture to fit the chair. Find a chair which conforms to your body shape when you sit with good posture.
It helped me understand why it's so hard not to slouch. The good fit happened when there was no gap between the two thumbs. So when we sit in a chair, there's usually a gap between our lower back and the back of the chair. I believe he was saying that we should use some kind of lumbar support to fill in that gap but I'm not sure. I think he has something important to say, but unfortunately, I didn't grasp what he was trying to teach us.

There's a reason we naturally slouch or recline in chairs. We're not meant to sit up straight! Look at people squatting in the third world. They hunch over. Screw sitting straight. Stand straight, sit however you want.
Your Boy Mr Mac you don’t understand the biomechanical difference between slouching in a squat and a chair. In the squat out bodyweight is distributed correctly and little pressure is put on the spine the same cannot be said for sitting. I’m not saying sitting straight up is THE best way to sit but when done correctly can help with stability through the spine and also in the core and slouching certainly isn’t. The best way to sit is not to....the body is ment to move especially the spine
The 120 degrees of recline study was done using lumbar back supported recline. The lumbar angle relative to the hip was 120 degrees and should have included the mentioning of lumbar arch supported recline and not just back rest support.
This guy talks in circles. It boils down to "sit up straighter" on a better chair. But that doesn't really treat the underlying health problem. Okay, sitting badly can exacerbate muscular imbalances etc. But the main problem is inactivity. We need to move, much, much more. They've shown that standing desks don't do shit, because they don't incorporate movement. Jeez.
I think you've made a good point. Whether we sit or stand, we are not pumping blood to the heart. We need to engage in some type of movement exercise for 5-10 minutes out of every hour of sitting....that would make sense....I guess?
The woman's scarf pretty much hid what he was trying to show. Too bad nobody noticed that and corrected it. A skeletal diagram would have helped too. As a chiropractor he would have one of those, either a poster or an actual skeleton to manipulate.

man I tried to sit like he said for just one minute and my back just started burning me !
