for the Star King the Underworld is very important, but for the government the Underworld has lost the meaning of existence because they already got an A.L.I.C.E.. My guess is that sealing or killing Alice would force the government to keep the Alicization Project active
So does kirito oppose Rath or kikuoka it's kind of hinted he has ulterior motives what happens or does the real world merge with the virtual world or try to take over it like quinella intended on doing
I agree 100%, I don't think it would be fair to give SAO a 'bad ending', so to speak, just because Accel World is implied to be the outcome of one. Maybe SAO's continuation can just follow along the 'good ending', and Accel World eventually gets established as an AU. You know, like how that new IP is the 'bad ending' to FullDive tech in general. Or Calibur SS depicting the other set of players winning that two-sided quest.
That is certainly valid, but the issue is, as AW was Reki’s first published novel, he wants that to be recognized more, so he’s at the crossroads where if he does connect them, it’ll be better for AW but bad for SAO, and if he doesn’t, then vice versa. Also, I think he exhausted all his energy for a proper SAO continuation, which is why he’s doing Demons Crest now (and if that’s the new IP you speak of, then it has no direct relation to either SAO or AW)
Reki did say that SAO's ending would be about a 1/3 tragic as Avengers: Endgame, but having AW mention how all of Kirito's comrades were defeated by those monsters doesn't sound as bittersweet as how Endgame ended. Yeah, Asuna & all the other human players would be fine irl after dying in-game, but what about the UW characters, Yui, Pina, etc? Would half of Kirito's side get wiped out for good because they're Ais/fluctlights? Also, is the new IP you mentioned Demons' Crest? I thought Gamerturk confirmed that it's not set in the SAO universe? The synopsis for that series even says that it's set in 2031 & the game they were playing is the 1st Fulldive VR MMO. Hello. I think Graphite Edge is Kirito and i have a long theory to explain it. My theory is if you take into account how brain burst (i think the admin is Yui, but that's another matter) creates duel avatars, the only trauma and expectations that can create an avatar like Graphite Edge are Kirito's. Because, you see, Kirito hates the black swordman, his SAO avatar, because it represents all he dislikes about himself. How he took distance of his parents and sister when he learned he was adopted, how he distanced from Klein, and even Asuna during most of his time in Aincrad. That is the kid that enters SAO and lives like that most of the two years until Asuna melts his barriers and helps him connect with people again. But at the same time, the black Swordsman is his fantasy power, because he never felt more powerful that that time. That's why, when he fights Administrator in Underwold and Gabriel Miller, he takes on that form through incarnate power, cause he fees it is his most powerful self. So, he hates and loves the black Swordman equally and those mixed up feelings are what end up creating an avatar like Graphite Edge. It's also usually pointed that Graphite Edge uses a lot of old lingo and other known stuff. The main point to debunk this theory is that Kirito doesn't have a neurolinker equiped from birth, but if you think why you need to have a neurolinker, it's pretty obvious that it is to sharp the quantum compatibilty of the brain, something that Kirito has by all the time he spends using the STL.
It's nice to know that my personal theory is still alive and well... that the fluctlight that was implanted into Kuroyukihime actually belongs to the child that Unital Ring heavily implies that Kirito and Asuna had during their 200 years trapped in Underworld. (you know, the part where Leafa jokes about Asuna's and Kirito's children, leading to their involuntary reactions, almost as if their minds were trying to remember something they had long forgotten)
That theory will likely remain out of touch. If they had a kid or kids, they'll likely not be a newborn child, but would have spent years in Underworld growing up.
At the same time, based on certain events revolving around Star King and Queens history, it wouldn’t really make sense for them to watch their kids grow up while they’re still trapped in Underworld when they would try to bring them back to the real world and meet with Yui (especially with the part where they had to strike their names for historical records to ensure no descendants claimed any right of the throne) Heck, we all thought no one from the past would be frozen besides Selka… until Ronye and Tiese So I feel like the part where they talked about AI kids was a retcon of sorts dressed up as part of the bigger plan (and because of how Reki ended Alicization, this was really the only possibility for it to be tied)
@@emil-1999 I actually called some Integrity Knights such as Fanatio being frozen. It made too much sense to give an offer to these super soldiers to either live out their lives, or be frozen until duty calls them like Spartans in Halo.
Thank you so much for making this video! Connected or not, you have to admit that it’s very cool how Reki is trying to tell a story spanned across two different series. It’s just really fascinating to read both SAO and Accel World and seeing all these connections that could either definitively link the two stories together or just be some weird coincidence or Easter egg that Reki put in just for fun. Personally, I think Reki only said they weren’t connected at first either because he had no idea how the future of both stories would go, or that he’s tricking us into thinking they’re not so that it doesn’t ruin whatever surprise he has up his sleeve. Either way, this is a great way to introduce SAO fans to Accel World and vise versa, and even invite some people to pick up into theorizing about the greater story of the virtual worlds. In my opinion, I’d say this has the potential to be one of the craziest connected stories if they give SAO and Accel World justice, and many people are missing out on discovering connections like these which I find to be mind boggling. Anyway, thank you again so much Gamerturk! You’re hands down the best SAO content creator and I hope you do another video on this topic once we get more information from the LN’s. Gotta love SAO/Accel World Lore ;)
A few words about the AW "SSS Order" program (the one with Star King insignia). Basically, it's an utility to get administrator rights in a top-secret government total security system called "SSS" and operating through video surveillance, which somehow integrated with the BB2039 game. It was said that the images from the cameras are processed superfast by artificial intelligence to call the police. BTW, the prototype of the system (called "SS") was presented in the first episode of the SAO:GGO story arc. So this "SSS" looks to me as if Underworld (technically AI cluster) is working for the Japanese government for electricity for its own maintenance. Graphite Edge guy is well aware of the details of Kirito's life in Aincrad, including the Eclipse skill, which Kirito himself did not like (considering it a borrowed power, not his own), used only once by mistake, and it cost him more than a mortal (Asuna's sacrifice) freeze in a duel with Heathcliff. And, of course, his personality is completely different. To me, he looks like a member of the Underworld embassy mission at the Imperial court (he literally hangs there in reality, and BTW graphite is an excellent conductor of electricity), and some kind of Integrity Knight worshipping the Star King. With some hints from White Cosmos (named Isotope, intended to preceed Pioneers, first players) - probably performs the task of overseeing one of the STL worlds. The scariest thing is Hime's Fluctlight. It was said that it was taken from some deceased person, most likely a baby (the thing is that maybe not, then just the memory will be lost). Taking into account the date-barcode... brrr, sounds like a really bad ending. As for the compatibility of oldies, it was said that the BB2039 game requires high compatibility with acceleration, usually achieved if you wear a neurolinker from birth. The keyword is "usually", and neurolinker is a mass-produced portable STL interface, despite the fact that long before it there were non-portable ones. Some interesting things about symbolism in Japanese culture: Lotus means the purity of the soul, as well as the cycle of rebirth and immortality. Crow is a god of guidance and a guardian of souls.
If people thought the War of Underworld is bad, just wait till we see in detail how bad the Intelligence War will be if it’s truly going to be the war mentioned in Accel World. I want to see it but we know it won’t have a happy ending. 😢
I'm sure GE is Kirito mainly because of the dialogue they have together in the sao x aw game (obviously its not canon, but come on they knew what they are doing and from what i remember Reki was quite involved in the game) PS as everyone else is saying it, i also got a star rail ad
watched this while I havn't yet read AW, Making SAO and AW directly connected would be a problem for SAO, like you said SAO Flucting Light , this sounds like a bad end. having two different endings would be better Ending A(True End to LN) is conclusion to SAO while Ending B(Bad End) being prequel to AW I should read AW LN soon

Spoilers @gamerturk, i think you missed mentioning a major piece of info about Graphite Edge, his nickname...the Anomaly. Why is he called that? Because he doesnt have a chip from birth? I think its also interesting to think about who Green Grande and Blue Knight could be, as they are mentioned as some of the OG players. GG also has been going around and farming the dungeons and leaving the drops for newer players to discover to help keep the game alive. GE also made the deal with him to return NN territory back to them, when the time comes, if memory serves
I have a wild theory that states that Green Grande is Agil and Trish son, because he behaves like Agil did in SAO, farming burst points to give them to low level players.
Hello gamerturk, thank you for your awesome video. The connections between those two series are becomingo more aparent as time passes, but there is a detail that i think you forgot that actually strengthens the theory that kamura Shikimi is actually mutasina. You see, in accel world volume 26, Sayuki explains that in her family, all women are named after plants. With the main family women having names derived from flowers. So, if you look into the fower that gives it's name to kamura shikimi, that plant has a scientific name Called Illicium anisatum (more details can be found here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illicium_anisatum). The funny thing is, if you take tthat last name of the flower (anisatum), and read it backwards, A N I S A T U M becomes M U T A S I NA. So I think this a really strong evidence of Shikimi Being mutasina.
Yup, I purposefully decided to keep that out. It would send me on a tangent at a moment where I was focusing on both Mutasina/Shikimi herself, and what Enju was talking about. I did not want to take a detour, when Mutasina's defeat was already clear enough of a link in SAO already.
Also a weird theory that launched in my head after reading that bit (I don't think I told many people about this anyway): Yuuki could also be a member of the Kamura family, since she and her sister share that same naming scheme (Yuuki was named after Crinum Asiaticum, and Aiko named after Persicaria tinctoria).

Pretty good video! You do bring up a good point about Graphite Edge & the Neuralinker only allowing teens to go into the AW. Either the rule doesn't apply to the creator (& it's Kirito doing what Kayaba did back in SAO by also being GE) or Graphite Edge could also be Kirito's actual son. If Kirito & Asuna got married irl around the early 2030s & they had a son a year later, the kid would be around the same age as the AW gang. Maybe their son is that boy that Reki drew back when he ended the SAO Web Novel. You know, the drawing he drew of an older Asuna holding a boy in her arms?
I also heard some other theories about how Star King possibly getting corrupted by UR & Green Grande is Kayaba & Rinko's son, but I'd be writing a lot about this topic. Although, I think I remember hearing that in AW 25, White Cosmos mentions how an Ai who was considered a god helped Leader B kill Leader A during the war & he became an Admin for BB.

Which is why it is also possible to work around it by saying "Kirito just got used to it in Max Acceleration Phase". Also, keep in mind that the age matter gets quite blurry. A lot of Brain Burst players spent extra years just in Brain Burst with the acceleration.
Before watching video: There are probably some connections between but as for whether they take place in the same universe or not is not entirely clear unless Accel World takes place after the events of an alternate sao storyline. It could be possible that Accel World takes place in an alternate universe where sao did happen but certain events are different. But then again, that's just a theory. A SAO/Accel World theory. Sorry, I just had to.
I'm busy with Unital Ring 5 here with book 26 after finishing Phantom Bullet and and the Johnny Black Kanamoto Atsushi Joe confirming here with Alicization beginning. Dusk Taker is Accel world antagonist.
First, i dont know it will be connected after Black Lotus in Alo in game SAO LS (that's actually clue for next Game SAO x AW) Second, Why Strea Becoming a Black Lotus / Lotta in game SAO LS (she can actually do Brain Brust in AW ) and last the most Sus is the Graphite Edge, is like 100% Kirigaya Kazuto style (and same Voice actor)
The Strea/Kuroyukihime connections are all fanservice. It's because both characters are voiced by Sachika Misawa. As I said in the video, GE was voiced by Matsuoka in AWvsSAO because the game purposefully wanted to have fun with the theory. Do not take the games for any kind of proof, they are just giving fanservice to those who want it.

The story did not come to a conclusion in the game, as the game was shut down. The last couple chapters were published on SAO Beaters Cafe in full text form.
Another thing as someone whos read all accel world and reading sao ln i think kawahara was much more polished where actually there is a fight between haru and kirito so im assuming the tech rath has somehow can alter time to some extent but i think brain burst is more of a completed version of the underworld
Whenever I see this topic get brought up, 3 things keep buzzing me if AW does end up being AW's future. 1. What's Asuna doing? What would be her role leading to AW? 2. Is Yui still alive and living with Kirito and Asuna irl like a normal human being? 3. Did ALO, New Aincrad, and GGO return to normal after UR was cleared or are they still lost/corrupted during AW?
I think it's unreasonable to have such questions. For all intents and purposes, even if the two series are linked directly, the story of Accel World is still the story of Haru and KYH and Nega Nebulus. The story never needs to care for what Asuna is doing, what Yui is doing, what happened to the VR Worlds of old in specifics. It's likely we'll hear about the result of the UR incident at some point, but that's because we'll know the result of it in SAO anyways. Asuna or Yui are not even peripheral characters. They can just be living their life and Kirito could be the "Kayaba" of everything because he's an idiot as usual and has to get entangled in everything, but that should end up being it.

Leafa, Sinon, Lisbeth, Silica etc… they all can live normal lives, but Asuna and Yui are directly involved with whatever Kirito’s affairs are, which of course includes that of AW (Asuna’s certainly not like Rinko who was cast aside by Kayaba when he enacted his plan) I also mentioned this in his tweet, but it’s rather strange that Asuna’s personal involvement is handwaved, given that BB duel avatars are produced from trauma, and Asuna herself being a good psychologist.

Sounds worse than Endgame's ending imo.

Perhap this is a step to create a world where people of both real and virtual world can live in harmony. But with Accel World seems like a story catalyst from a dark time, maybe SAO series won't end in a happy note and Accel World was there to concluded that.
That is apparently one of the themes of Cosmos Corrupt and it fell because of there being mass cooperation in the first place Seems paradoxical, but we could get more hints on that in the coming volumes (hopefully)
Or it was "Dark Timeline/Darkverse" spin-off from what actually happened in Sword Art Online Proper Mainverse Timeline (like Calibur SS is Dark Timeline/Darkverse and Alternative Ending of Calibur Side Story). God, I hope that's the case.
Well actually "beyond humans" was KYHs wording in V1, while Shikimi/Enju were aiming for "domain of gods" (literally Kamuras meaning) That was what Kirito himself said iirc, Mutasina was challenging UR as "someone from a different dimension" (though that wouldn’t make a lot of sense with ordinary human perception, which I totally understand, since it’s not like they actually came from any virtual world)

I can see how the two series are connected as well with the same points. I will say that while I agree that having them end up being one timeline would cause the SAO ending to end up being bad, it could lead to a greater ending for both series at the end of Accel World, if Reki doesn't add any of his other series into the mix. I will also say however, that due to Reki making the gameverse of SAO that he could be a big believer in the multiverse theory and that his version of it in all of his series are based off the videogame way to make a multiverse, through save files and save scumming. My point is that having a different outcome in your videogame is like having a complete different timeline. With this in mind, mixed with Reki already making a multiverse already, it could be theorized that the Reki is planning an ending in SAO that won't be connected to Accel World while at the same time connecting SAO to Accel World in a different way. What I mean is that he could have two ending for SAO that is similar to many different RPG based games we have seen throughout the decades. A good ending, and a bad ending. The SAO ending we will get in will be the good ending where everything is fine, Underworld does not get shutdown and sent to Purgatory/Hell, and Alice does not become a Fluctuating Light. While in Accel World, Reki will tell us a bad ending of SAO where Underworld does get shutdown and Alice gets trapped as a Fluctuating Light and now the Accel World characters mow have to save her. It could keep the game like roots both series have with actual video game experiences each of us have, while at the same time, giving us both a good ending for SAO and Accel World.
SAO's ending would be more bittersweet than bad & the only bad stuff that would come out of it would be Alice's fate & UW shutting down. But yeah, AW being the good ending for both series isn't too crazy. The AW gang end up saving Alice & she finds out how different the real world & technology has evolved. And then, they could show Kirito & Co. during the climax or something. It'd be a cool ending & a reason for SAO fans to check out AW, but will we all still be alive when AW ends?
Honestly I agree with this. If SAO’s ending is just a version that doesn’t lead into Accel World (or has any direct ties to Accel World) then Reki is able to hold his end of the deal where he said that SAO and Accel World aren’t connected to each other. At the same time, he can still make the excuse that they are connected by having Accel World be that alternative ending where things went wrong and the sins of the past end up carrying on to the events of Accel World. Reki may not be the best writer (imo) but I do have to admit that what he’s set up was very brilliant and has a lot of potential. This is something that I wish more anime and light novel fans would give their attention to because this could be the biggest and craziest connected storyline we’ve seen yet and I love how vague they hint at each series because it really makes you wonder what will happen and if it really is a connected story. It’s not your average, easily predictable story, you’re actually left with the lingering questions of whether or not they’re connected and what might happen next. God I love this series.
Yup, pretty much. Which is why a prominent theory is that Accel World is basically a story that's based upon a non-canon "bad ending" version of SAO's story, rather than a direct sequel. I was going to go more in depth into that aspect, but realized the video got long enough already ^^'
The main reason is probably because AW was born from a time when Kawahara is still in his edgy phase so to speak (he started on it right around the end of the Alicization WN), and now that both series have gone too far in their development (and Alicization not being the end as was initially theorized), they have to meet at a middle point that affects both series' timelines (and whether or not fans would appreciate that ending is up to them) and Reki has to go back to his edgy phase that he once discarded. Remember, this is the same guy who said "SAO will have 1/3 of the terrible ending from Endgame"
The only bad stuff that'd happen if SAO really ends up linking to AW would be Alice's fate & UW's shutdown. If you ship Kirito & Asuna' or you're a fan of any of the real world characters, then you shouldn't worry that much. Reki already said that he'll write Kirito & Asuna's real world wedding scene when SAO ends, but tbh, I'm more worried about Yui. I'm really hoping she lives on in the real world & sees Kirito & Asuna getting married irl.

It's nice to know that my personal theory is still alive and well... that the fluctlight that was implanted into Kuroyukihime actually belongs to the child that Unital Ring heavily implies that Kirito and Asuna had during their 200 years trapped in Underworld. (you know, the part where Leafa jokes about Asuna's and Kirito's children, leading to their involuntary reactions, almost as if their minds were trying to remember something they had long forgotten)
That theory will likely remain out of touch. If they had a kid or kids, they'll likely not be a newborn child, but would have spent years in Underworld growing up.

At the same time, based on certain events revolving around Star King and Queens history, it wouldn’t really make sense for them to watch their kids grow up while they’re still trapped in Underworld when they would try to bring them back to the real world and meet with Yui (especially with the part where they had to strike their names for historical records to ensure no descendants claimed any right of the throne)
Heck, we all thought no one from the past would be frozen besides Selka… until Ronye and Tiese
So I feel like the part where they talked about AI kids was a retcon of sorts dressed up as part of the bigger plan (and because of how Reki ended Alicization, this was really the only possibility for it to be tied)

Thank you so much for making this video! Connected or not, you have to admit that it’s very cool how Reki is trying to tell a story spanned across two different series. It’s just really fascinating to read both SAO and Accel World and seeing all these connections that could either definitively link the two stories together or just be some weird coincidence or Easter egg that Reki put in just for fun. Personally, I think Reki only said they weren’t connected at first either because he had no idea how the future of both stories would go, or that he’s tricking us into thinking they’re not so that it doesn’t ruin whatever surprise he has up his sleeve. Either way, this is a great way to introduce SAO fans to Accel World and vise versa, and even invite some people to pick up into theorizing about the greater story of the virtual worlds. In my opinion, I’d say this has the potential to be one of the craziest connected stories if they give SAO and Accel World justice, and many people are missing out on discovering connections like these which I find to be mind boggling.
Anyway, thank you again so much Gamerturk! You’re hands down the best SAO content creator and I hope you do another video on this topic once we get more information from the LN’s. Gotta love SAO/Accel World Lore ;)
I’m only on vol12 of Accel World so I’ll have to watch this some other time, but thanks for putting in the time for this.
A few words about the AW "SSS Order" program (the one with Star King insignia). Basically, it's an utility to get administrator rights in a top-secret government total security system called "SSS" and operating through video surveillance, which somehow integrated with the BB2039 game. It was said that the images from the cameras are processed superfast by artificial intelligence to call the police. BTW, the prototype of the system (called "SS") was presented in the first episode of the SAO:GGO story arc. So this "SSS" looks to me as if Underworld (technically AI cluster) is working for the Japanese government for electricity for its own maintenance.
Graphite Edge guy is well aware of the details of Kirito's life in Aincrad, including the Eclipse skill, which Kirito himself did not like (considering it a borrowed power, not his own), used only once by mistake, and it cost him more than a mortal (Asuna's sacrifice) freeze in a duel with Heathcliff. And, of course, his personality is completely different. To me, he looks like a member of the Underworld embassy mission at the Imperial court (he literally hangs there in reality, and BTW graphite is an excellent conductor of electricity), and some kind of Integrity Knight worshipping the Star King. With some hints from White Cosmos (named Isotope, intended to preceed Pioneers, first players) - probably performs the task of overseeing one of the STL worlds.
The scariest thing is Hime's Fluctlight. It was said that it was taken from some deceased person, most likely a baby (the thing is that maybe not, then just the memory will be lost). Taking into account the date-barcode... brrr, sounds like a really bad ending.
As for the compatibility of oldies, it was said that the BB2039 game requires high compatibility with acceleration, usually achieved if you wear a neurolinker from birth. The keyword is "usually", and neurolinker is a mass-produced portable STL interface, despite the fact that long before it there were non-portable ones.
Some interesting things about symbolism in Japanese culture:
Lotus means the purity of the soul, as well as the cycle of rebirth and immortality.
Crow is a god of guidance and a guardian of souls.
If people thought the War of Underworld is bad, just wait till we see in detail how bad the Intelligence War will be if it’s truly going to be the war mentioned in Accel World. I want to see it but we know it won’t have a happy ending. 😢
I'm sure GE is Kirito mainly because of the dialogue they have together in the sao x aw game (obviously its not canon, but come on they knew what they are doing and from what i remember Reki was quite involved in the game)

@gamerturk, i think you missed mentioning a major piece of info about Graphite Edge, his nickname...the Anomaly. Why is he called that? Because he doesnt have a chip from birth?
I think its also interesting to think about who Green Grande and Blue Knight could be, as they are mentioned as some of the OG players. GG also has been going around and farming the dungeons and leaving the drops for newer players to discover to help keep the game alive. GE also made the deal with him to return NN territory back to them, when the time comes, if memory serves
I have a wild theory that states that Green Grande is Agil and Trish son, because he behaves like Agil did in SAO, farming burst points to give them to low level players.

Hello gamerturk, thank you for your awesome video. The connections between those two series are becomingo more aparent as time passes, but there is a detail that i think you forgot that actually strengthens the theory that kamura Shikimi is actually mutasina.
You see, in accel world volume 26, Sayuki explains that in her family, all women are named after plants. With the main family women having names derived from flowers.
So, if you look into the fower that gives it's name to kamura shikimi, that plant has a scientific name Called Illicium anisatum (more details can be found here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illicium_anisatum).
The funny thing is, if you take tthat last name of the flower (anisatum), and read it backwards, A N I S A T U M becomes M U T A S I NA.
So I think this a really strong evidence of Shikimi Being mutasina.
Yup, I purposefully decided to keep that out. It would send me on a tangent at a moment where I was focusing on both Mutasina/Shikimi herself, and what Enju was talking about. I did not want to take a detour, when Mutasina's defeat was already clear enough of a link in SAO already.
Also a weird theory that launched in my head after reading that bit (I don't think I told many people about this anyway):
Yuuki could also be a member of the Kamura family, since she and her sister share that same naming scheme (Yuuki was named after Crinum Asiaticum, and Aiko named after Persicaria tinctoria).

You do bring up a good point about Graphite Edge & the Neuralinker only allowing teens to go into the AW. Either the rule doesn't apply to the creator (& it's Kirito doing what Kayaba did back in SAO by also being GE) or Graphite Edge could also be Kirito's actual son. If Kirito & Asuna got married irl around the early 2030s & they had a son a year later, the kid would be around the same age as the AW gang. Maybe their son is that boy that Reki drew back when he ended the SAO Web Novel. You know, the drawing he drew of an older Asuna holding a boy in her arms?
I also heard some other theories about how Star King possibly getting corrupted by UR & Green Grande is Kayaba & Rinko's son, but I'd be writing a lot about this topic. Although, I think I remember hearing that in AW 25, White Cosmos mentions how an Ai who was considered a god helped Leader B kill Leader A during the war & he became an Admin for BB.

It's not a rule, it's literally a technical block. It does not allow you in, if your brain cannot handle the acceleration. Which is why it is also possible to work around it by saying "Kirito just got used to it in Max Acceleration Phase".
Also, keep in mind that the age matter gets quite blurry. A lot of Brain Burst players spent extra years just in Brain Burst with the acceleration.
Before watching video: There are probably some connections between but as for whether they take place in the same universe or not is not entirely clear unless Accel World takes place after the events of an alternate sao storyline. It could be possible that Accel World takes place in an alternate universe where sao did happen but certain events are different. But then again, that's just a theory. A SAO/Accel World theory. Sorry, I just had to.

The Strea/Kuroyukihime connections are all fanservice. It's because both characters are voiced by Sachika Misawa. As I said in the video, GE was voiced by Matsuoka in AWvsSAO because the game purposefully wanted to have fun with the theory.

The story did not come to a conclusion in the game, as the game was shut down. The last couple chapters were published on SAO Beaters Cafe in full text form.
Another thing as someone whos read all accel world and reading sao ln i think kawahara was much more polished where actually there is a fight between haru and kirito so im assuming the tech rath has somehow can alter time to some extent but i think brain burst is more of a completed version of the underworld
Versus story is a celebratory, non-canon story.
Whenever I see this topic get brought up, 3 things keep buzzing me if AW does end up being AW's future.
1. What's Asuna doing? What would be her role leading to AW?
2. Is Yui still alive and living with Kirito and Asuna irl like a normal human being?
3. Did ALO, New Aincrad, and GGO return to normal after UR was cleared or are they still lost/corrupted during AW?
I think it's unreasonable to have such questions. For all intents and purposes, even if the two series are linked directly, the story of Accel World is still the story of Haru and KYH and Nega Nebulus.
The story never needs to care for what Asuna is doing, what Yui is doing, what happened to the VR Worlds of old in specifics. It's likely we'll hear about the result of the UR incident at some point, but that's because we'll know the result of it in SAO anyways.
Asuna or Yui are not even peripheral characters. They can just be living their life and Kirito could be the "Kayaba" of everything because he's an idiot as usual and has to get entangled in everything, but that should end up being it.

Leafa, Sinon, Lisbeth, Silica etc… they all can live normal lives, but Asuna and Yui are directly involved with whatever Kirito’s affairs are, which of course includes that of AW (Asuna’s certainly not like Rinko who was cast aside by Kayaba when he enacted his plan)
I also mentioned this in his tweet, but it’s rather strange that Asuna’s personal involvement is handwaved, given that BB duel avatars are produced from trauma, and Asuna herself being a good psychologist.
@@Gamerturk True, but I could see them pull a Legend of Korra or Batman Beyond with AW where they bring SAO characters later on to help the AW gang. Even if Kirito is Graphite Edge, you know Asuna & Yui would find a way to monitor him.
And we all know Asuna will live on after the war, but I'm more worried about Yui possibly dying due to her being a UR player & how AW mentioned how all of "Kirito's" comrades got slaughtered by those monsters.

That is apparently one of the themes of Cosmos Corrupt and it fell because of there being mass cooperation in the first place

Well actually "beyond humans" was KYHs wording in V1, while Shikimi/Enju were aiming for "domain of gods" (literally Kamuras meaning)
That was what Kirito himself said iirc, Mutasina was challenging UR as "someone from a different dimension" (though that wouldn’t make a lot of sense with ordinary human perception, which I totally understand, since it’s not like they actually came from any virtual world)
Quinella saw Rath as gods and that world of gods was what she aimed to reach after all. Pretty much tracks.

I can see how the two series are connected as well with the same points. I will say that while I agree that having them end up being one timeline would cause the SAO ending to end up being bad, it could lead to a greater ending for both series at the end of Accel World, if Reki doesn't add any of his other series into the mix. I will also say however, that due to Reki making the gameverse of SAO that he could be a big believer in the multiverse theory and that his version of it in all of his series are based off the videogame way to make a multiverse, through save files and save scumming. My point is that having a different outcome in your videogame is like having a complete different timeline. With this in mind, mixed with Reki already making a multiverse already, it could be theorized that the Reki is planning an ending in SAO that won't be connected to Accel World while at the same time connecting SAO to Accel World in a different way. What I mean is that he could have two ending for SAO that is similar to many different RPG based games we have seen throughout the decades. A good ending, and a bad ending. The SAO ending we will get in will be the good ending where everything is fine, Underworld does not get shutdown and sent to Purgatory/Hell, and Alice does not become a Fluctuating Light. While in Accel World, Reki will tell us a bad ending of SAO where Underworld does get shutdown and Alice gets trapped as a Fluctuating Light and now the Accel World characters mow have to save her. It could keep the game like roots both series have with actual video game experiences each of us have, while at the same time, giving us both a good ending for SAO and Accel World.
SAO's ending would be more bittersweet than bad & the only bad stuff that would come out of it would be Alice's fate & UW shutting down. But yeah, AW being the good ending for both series isn't too crazy. The AW gang end up saving Alice & she finds out how different the real world & technology has evolved. And then, they could show Kirito & Co. during the climax or something.
It'd be a cool ending & a reason for SAO fans to check out AW, but will we all still be alive when AW ends?

Honestly I agree with this. If SAO’s ending is just a version that doesn’t lead into Accel World (or has any direct ties to Accel World) then Reki is able to hold his end of the deal where he said that SAO and Accel World aren’t connected to each other. At the same time, he can still make the excuse that they are connected by having Accel World be that alternative ending where things went wrong and the sins of the past end up carrying on to the events of Accel World. Reki may not be the best writer (imo) but I do have to admit that what he’s set up was very brilliant and has a lot of potential. This is something that I wish more anime and light novel fans would give their attention to because this could be the biggest and craziest connected storyline we’ve seen yet and I love how vague they hint at each series because it really makes you wonder what will happen and if it really is a connected story. It’s not your average, easily predictable story, you’re actually left with the lingering questions of whether or not they’re connected and what might happen next.

Yup, pretty much. Which is why a prominent theory is that Accel World is basically a story that's based upon a non-canon "bad ending" version of SAO's story, rather than a direct sequel.
I was going to go more in depth into that aspect, but realized the video got long enough already ^^'
The main reason is probably because AW was born from a time when Kawahara is still in his edgy phase so to speak (he started on it right around the end of the Alicization WN), and now that both series have gone too far in their development (and Alicization not being the end as was initially theorized), they have to meet at a middle point that affects both series' timelines (and whether or not fans would appreciate that ending is up to them) and Reki has to go back to his edgy phase that he once discarded.
Remember, this is the same guy who said "SAO will have 1/3 of the terrible ending from Endgame"
The only bad stuff that'd happen if SAO really ends up linking to AW would be Alice's fate & UW's shutdown. If you ship Kirito & Asuna' or you're a fan of any of the real world characters, then you shouldn't worry that much. Reki already said that he'll write Kirito & Asuna's real world wedding scene when SAO ends, but tbh, I'm more worried about Yui. I'm really hoping she lives on in the real world & sees Kirito & Asuna getting married irl.
