Listening to Samoan songs refresh my Samoan language. Left American Samoa in 1976 isolated from Samoan community till a yr or so ago, stumbled on Samoan u-tubes listening to took me awhile to understand some of the words what they meant in the English language. Returned back to American Samoa for the first time in 2018 didn't even know where our land was😮 good thing my brother and sister accompanied me on that trip. They been back and forth before but me I joined the military and that's where I spent most of my life till I retired in 2000.

the lyrics were written by Tiama'a. It was about the girl by the name of Taute Anesi from Aumi Laulii. Her Dad owns the Tumua Bar back in the 80's..she was a former graduate of Faasao HIgh.

I don't think so. It's about the girl named Tumua who was attending Teachers Training College in Apia at the time when she was courted by Fafo, the singer at Tiama'a Band. She ended up marrying Fafo.
Yes Tunufai was right Ulufafo explain that Tumua was the bar that own by her dad in Laulii not Tumua that Fafo married o Sau fesoasoani atu lea soifua.

Kama a le kama malūlū man..Taute is from my ville..The writter is from upolu that stayed in Lauli'i.He wanted to go out with Taute but was just cldnt say a word to her..So he wrote the words and gave it to Tiama'a to express his feelings for Taute..Awesome story from older generation in Lauli'i,Am Samoa..Seki a fika RSA and the new video..
sione003 Sole, o pese lea a Fafo I lona toalua o loo la faatasi nei. O Taute ole igoa aoga na o Tumua le toalua o Fafo. She went to Levaula College in Upolu when Fafo first met her. She then attended TTC in Malifa before they got married and moved to New Zealand.
You can verify all this info with Fafo & Tumua or their children. Taute/Tumua’s family used to live in Toomatagi/Maagiagi at the time. It brings back So many wonderful memories with her and her family whenever I hear this classic. Anyways, faafetai RSA mo siufofoga malie! Sili a pese Samoa ile faalogologo. GB
