There IS so much variety! and this is just my area. I feel like you could find even crazier things if you expanded the search. Maybe I will do that next video!
This was fun to do a online walk through with you Erin. However, I agree too many windows are problematic and self removal can be pain in the dumper. The sentimental value of these vehicles is real.
long time watcher here, first time commenter, this is a meta you should definitely explore. maybe just talking about thoughts on different listings/vans & their pros/cons through your lens
Thank you for the idea! I was thinking of doing something similar, like ranking different styles of rigs and talking about them all. I made a video in the past talking about small vans vs large ones and I know that one sparked some really good conversations too!
Wow that 2014 Sprinter with the sun roof is WIIILD. Amazing build. I wouldn't need a shower in my van personally but otherwise its perfect. Would love to see whoever that is doing a full tour video
Lol love your commentary 😂 what an interesting variety, and funny things people put in their descriptions. Looking forward to seeing what you land on buying!!
Being able to stand up is a mighty upgrade. I took my van to Alaska, came home and immediately put a hi-top on it. Went again this summer, so much more enjoyable. And you can set the bed high enough to get a huge garage.
AGH! That's literally the dream!! I didn't even consider it when I first bought my transit connect but now it seems so obvious after 3 years with it and countless trips. and i want a garage so bad for all my gear😭😭
i love hearing your perspective on tiny van life, and the dream of standing up inside! Please be super informed of anything too long. when it doesn't fit in a regular parking spot, makes life way harder/ expensive. i look for under 23 feet. good luck! take us on more perusals!
Aww thank you!! Yes the dream to stand up is like top priority on my list haha! I definitely want to stay away from something too long. You are totally right, it looks like a major pain
As a former skoolie dweller, I would say the windows were definitely a negative most of the time. I ended up covering them most of the time and windows and roof always leaked water. Also it was very difficult to find anyone willing or able to work on it. I ended up moving into a Subaru for over a year and that was far better for me. If I had had the funds for both the purchase and fuel, I would have bought a Transit high top. I’ve driven all the high top vans at work and I thought Transits were the best and most reliable. Just be aware the operating cost is probably about double what you’re used to in your current van.
Thank you for sharing!! Yeah I had a feeling the windows might get old after awhile. And yeah, I am assuming a normal mechanic would probably not be wanting to mess with a school bus so that makes total sense!! I don't really have the funds for a transit high top either but i gotta make some sort of change or im gonna go crazy. I will miss the simplicity and low cost of my transit connect though😭
It doesn't matter what other people think. What matters is that you're comfortable with it and what vibes with you. But whatever you get it doesn't hurt to have it looked at by a mechanic beforw you get it!
Awesome ideas for a bigger van that you can have more room in and take friends and family on trips in. One thing with the prices I find that the German brands tend to be far more expensive 🙂
Hi Erin, I think women refer van and men refer pickup truck. But either way you may choose better get help someone know about (engine) car. About millage does not matter. I think the most matters are reliable, fuel, and enough budge. Checkout how much water you need and electrical (how many watts you want) if they are including solar. That would be great. Bathroom and toilet you may need but seem not necessary. Because most people they use in fitness after workout. Don't let something else to fool you. Good luck Erin.
@@erin_elyse maybe, I'm anxious so I would be scared of the video blowing up and then getting sued by Aramark or the feds for defamation. As long as you don't lie or make false claims that cost them business you should be good. I love your slice of life content and vibes I would watch anything!
Watch out for vehicles that may have spent a lot of time idling; like ambulances and buses. The odometer won't give you a good idea of how worn the engine is in those cases.
It's Econoline, not Ecoline. Also, that last van, which is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 with the 170" wheelbase & the extended body is definitely not a 2014 model year since it's the pre-facelifted NCV3 body, as 2014s have the post-facelifted front end.
I want to get a promaster 3500. But you don't want to get something that doesn't shows outside, you live in it. But need a van where you can put a shower and toilet.
What ever you do don't buy pre 2,000. Some state as mine any auto place will not work on it, as their state don't carry parts, and they will not used other part you get, I when through it after spending so much and time to dump it at a junk yard for free. Brough a transit 250 30 k . But the former 351 high top ford used 40-50 gas a week the transit 11 buck. Reason is v6 small and the 6 speed, it's don't rev the engine fast 1-2-3-4 25 mph and drive as a car. Look at older work van mine was too. Expensive but glad I did. Now to interior it again
@@erin_elyse hey tell you my trick on the 2017 250 transit, the 250 take the weight , as you putting 1,500 in, it don't sag as the 150 do. Try this on your car too. Fill it full top it off. Then count the days till it show full. Mine was 5 days, then fill up same. See how much when in. Mine was 10 buck even. So every 5 day, to me that a week I put in 10 or 11 buck . Now wait till a nug under full and put in the same, better to work that range, so 10 but =ll tank every 5 days or a week is 5 x 6 = 30 or 6 week vs 4 week. So it really 60 a month vs 175 the old 150 ford . It it feel so cool putting 10 buck pocket money and seeing full tank . And 5 day is long seem a week. Watchout on the dodge front wheel drive and Tran problem are common after 100 k. The transit need a dealer oil change not zippy 500 buck but that with syntenic oil that 100 buck. The transit drive as the smaller one you have . First van that drive as a car, effortly even up hill power to spare, no noise Or used lower gear.
@@erin_elyse smart girl , they're kinda industrial, I am getting a old motor home, I will make sure it has no rust and low miles, good luck, o and more videos lol .
I'm always impressed how much variety and how much cheaper vans and campers are in the US 😍

me too. astonished. wish it was easier to import into canada, even with the horrible exchange rate!!
@@goodandgreen The UK is so tiny we have very little variety of anything and everything is so much more expensive because demand is high!

I'm glad you liked it! and yes it is SO REAL. I am actually dreading the day I have to get rid of my van
This channel is a hidden gem💎
Thanks!! I don't want it to be hidden anymore though lol!!😂
Had the same thought when you clicked on the ambulance, would be hard to shake the feeling that it might carry some eerie energy.
I would never get an ambulance.
Right?!? I could never!! It's like the haunted house equivalent but in van form

Right?? definitely my favorite one haha. I wouldn't want a shower either too but everything else was a dream!!
Erin, standing up in your van is a
game changer. My van is the Promaster 159” wheelbase, extended, high roof and I love it.
I agree with being able to stand up. That's always been a must, even with tents.
Right?? It gets realllll old after awhile
Older vehicles that run are hidden gems. They can and do outlive their owners for the most part.

LOL... mattress designed for a toddler. But anyway, I agree with you about the ambulance thing....... could be haunted!!
Hahaha its true though😭😂 It literally is a child's mattress and it gets old after awhile lollll. and yeah no ambulance for me EVER

@erin_elyse good luck with everything. You will find what you're looking for just be patient!!
Take lots of pictures of whatever you purchase. Check for orbs, lines of light or fogginess.
That bis built for 8k is a steal!!😮😍
Check out those Nissan vans they're a little bigger than what you got. Very reliable too.
Okay I will!! Thanks!
Enjoyed the commentary and sense of humor. ✌️
Haha yay! Thanks for watching!
I agree with your window theory, I need four solid walls of steal between me and the world
right?? I like to lock myself in my metal box and feel safe LOLLL

I'd love an ambulance!!!!
the prices in US so much cheaper than in europe wooowsiees :)
That's what I'm hearing! Crazy!
wow and zamzam water
Part time in a truck. Looking for similar things especially standing room. Also from mid Michigan.
I really think a truck camper could be a good option for me. I just prefer something stealthier so idk!
@@erin_elyse So many choices!
I found that even with my 3/4 ton truck the slide in felt heavy and definitely not stealth.
Good video!
thanks!
With the school bus, it depends on the person living in it, I'm 6'4 a conversion van is just too small for me.
Ahh!! yes that makes total sense. I'm 5'3 so I've never had to worry about that but maybe I should consider it for my taller friends and family lol!

Try looking at a Nissan NV2500 it’s not as big as a promaster but you can stand up in it! I’m looking at getting one myself.
If you get an electric van you can run the A/C 24/7 and never experience condensation problems.
AC would be a DREAM

I definitely will!! DM me on IG or email me?
Maybe you could pay to raise the roof in your van

Hi to add look into who can fix your Mercedes and costs , better with a older American camper van like a C class.
Ram promasters break all the time and are expensive to fix. Hard pass.
Erin, You Should Get A Bus 🚌 Van 🚐, because You Can Stand Them And They Are very very very Great For Back Support To.
