you make it look so easy! thanks for posting these videos.
Excellent series. Really interesting. However this segment is missing from the longer video on the website.
I'm assuming that it's easier to set the joint blocks in the form when square on the inside. They are carved to their final shape later in the process. Brian demonstrates it in his "Assembling violin..." segment of this series.
Супер мастер!!))
what's a good alternative if you don't have a heating iron for bending?
Hi Bertie,
The mold is collapsable and comes apart so one can remove it easily.
Regards,
Brian
Enjoyed your video Mr. Lusis. Are moulds similar to the one you use available for purchase? Or are there plans available on how to make a such a mould? I can see a real advantage to using this type. I have tried to make one violin without too much success and would like to try again. Having a mould such as yours would help. Thank you.
how can i obtain all the instruments used to make a violin.. such as these wooden frame bracing things, heating irons, the measurements and the stencil for the neck? i am just a young fellow wanting to start a project please help me out. Much appreciation
Great video!
How do you remove the blocks from the mold without cracking the ribs when finished?
Do your cats play string instruments?
Akrian Mapping
No if they are strung with catgut 😉
Is there a reason the joint blocks between the uppper (or lower) ribs and the middle ribs have that squarish shape on the inside? Just curious.
Please tell me that I am not the first to think "catgut strings"...
your saw sucks. try dozuki saw.
