I really like how you drew the C bout lining channel in 3D from the perspective of the camera. This kind of attention to detail and consideration of the needs of your audience is highly commendable and also shows the respect for your craft. Your carefully made videos are comprehensive and inspiring and exactly what I need to help me with the process.
Great as always, an update in the unlikely event you remember me but I have successfully gotten ahold of a local luthier and he's invited me to see his workshop!
Would you recommend making a violin as a first project? Violins have always fascinated me and this could be a more cost friendlier way to get into it. Also you get to make stuff which is cool.
I wouldn’t try to make a violin for a first project. If you’re dead set on making an instrument, I would suggest trying a lamellophone of some sort (thumb piano, mouth bow). They’re straightforward but will get you shaping wood and using your tools. You could just follow Mr. Kwok’s videos and make a violin though. Like anything, you probably need to get 100 “bad” ones out of the way before you make your first “good” one.
@@MekwokStudio well worth the effort! I'm starting my first violin project, and taking in as much info as I can get. A lot of it is beautiful, but not so much is as clever :) I'm looking forward to more from you, and hope you're finding TH-cam content creation rewarding. Did you pick up the Stradivarius tricks from "the secrets of Stradivarius book"? I'm wondering if that book is worth its cost for a violin maker
How do you get the form out when you glue the ribs on both sides of the linings? It would seem to me that the form is trapped between the upper and lower linings.
I really admire Asian artisans their work is really neat and the finishing is gorgeous.
Thank you!

You inspired me to make my own violin
Let’s do it!
As a guitar builder I'm fascinated by your videos, and there's always something I learn that I can apply to my own work.
Thanks, glad that it helps!
This series will help me heaps when I start mine.
Glad that it helps!

Yes, cost friendlier is one of the thing I thought about when I first started too. So why not? Do what you please!
This is just what I'm looking for, but, not sure about the part about the grain of wood direction, and straightness of same?
The grain direction is when you view from the top of the violin, the straightness is on the side.
@@MekwokStudio thanks, those little planes, which ones would i need and are they expensive to buy?
