Went in Jasmine's gym knowing everyone simps for her, came out knowing you can paralyze Electric-Type Pokemon.
You COULD paralyze Electric types
As of gen 6 Electric types can no longer by paralyzed!
You can't do it in newer games, and I ALWAYS forget it wasn't a thing and throw battles in older games because of it

definitely one of my least favorites, i know i’m a year late to the party but everything about those games are just terrible and really unbalanced, one of the best games when it comes to music, but gameplay wise it sucks

absolute banger choice for a first game, though it make make some of the more meh games looks. lot worse starting with the Gen 2 remakes.
@@CosmicToad5000 update: i finished it and now i'm playing pokemon diamond, its ost is not as good but i like the concept of other characters following you. i also watched black and white gameplay and i love how every thing except the characters is now 3d and the camera moves in-battle and also the pokemon sprites are animated, it makes the game feel like retro and modern at the same time

@@luigivoncheeseburgerjenkinsiv Yeah the animations of Gen 5 are just amazing, it's unfortunate the series immediately moved onto pretty rough 3D graphics afterwards because the sprites and animations are just so damn clean.
Gen 4 is one of my personal favourites, mostly down the new pokemon introduced but it's still a fun romp. If you're not too far into diamond yet i would advise switching over to Platinum though.
While most of the "3rd improved game" entires in the series are pretty much direct upgrades to the original two games, it goes doubly for Platnium compared to Diamond & Pearl. The game speed was drastically improved so things like surfing and HP ticking down don,it take so long and the variety of pokemon is much greater. despite adding a bunch of new evolutions for existing pokemon you can't actually get the older forms meaning that a lot of Gen4's pokédex goes unused in Diamond/Pearl, and infamously there's only a single fire type other than the fire starter you can catch.
Diamond & Pealr are by no means bad, but if you're only gonna play one Sinnoh game make it Platnium.
What I love about the _truly_ good songs is that hearing even the tiniest snippets of them can make them stuck in my head for hours.
*This is one of these songs.* Same could be said about a lot of Pokemon themes (mostly battles). I don't even know what exactly makes them so catchy and memorable. They just have a certain _"magic"_ to them.

I've been listening to this track for years and years, and I only just noticed the funky turn the bass takes during the 4th ramp-up that starts at 0:45. It's like the bassline itself can't take the tension that has built up over this whole section and it finally snaps before launching into the most hype part of the whole track.
God I love this game.

@@addisonfung5009Yeah, even though I still won on my first try, 3 Stomp flinches in a row did NOT make that easy on Harley the Heracross.
I had to resort of lowering stats at lot, Attack, Accuracy, and also paralysis.

Every time it hits, even when i'm up against Falkner with a jacked up flaafy, I turn it up....loud. Never fails to pump me up.
I love this theme mostly for is kinda slow compared to the original, and has anticipated parts, just like the battles in Gen 4
the nostalgia this gives me of my first gym battle against faulkner 🤣🤣. never copped an L so hard in my life. from that day on i swore to never loose again

**Whitney wants to know your potions' location**
Whitney is great. If you are a "casual player" or doing no-item challenges, you usually get destroyed by Miltanks "enjoyable" moveset consisting of four very fun moves. And if you are a speedrunner or challenge player that has more in-depth knowledge about "how to cheese fights", you usually get destroyed by Clefairy spamming stuff like Metronome Swagger or Metronome Explosion on you while trying to set up on it. If there ever was a gym leader that specializes on "RNG", then it's definitely Whitney.
Swagger is 50-50. If it works it’s powerful. But if it fails, then you’re giving your opponent the opportunity to OHKO you.
Why the hell would you use potions when that cow is about to hit you with an even more powerful rollout?
Maybe because you think that Rollout will MISS? Because that what happened to me when I faced that Miltank. It MISSED A ROLLOUT.

First time I went through this gym, I sent out a Gastly expecting to be safe from Miltank’s Stomp…

For the first three gyms, I used a Geodude. Easy af. After that, it was Crobat for the next two gyms, and after that, it was a group effort. The Elite Four was also pretty tough, especially Karen and her stalling Umbreon.
Just use a fairy type against Karen.
Wait shit they don't exist in this game. Almost forgot. DON'T use a fairy type, use a fighting type.

Falkner: An almost too simple tutorial Gym battle lacking any Johto Pokémon
Bugsy: This battle would be pretty much the same if Scyther was his only Pokémon
Whitney: Miltank is power creep in the form of a fat pink cow, too bad Clefairy's not Normal anymore
Morty: Imagine being the Johto Ghost-Type Gym Leader and not having a Misdreavus
Chuck: Both of his Pokémon have gotten direct buffs since the Gen 4 days, plus no Johto Pokémon
Jasmine: Imagine having both of your Magnemite unevolved even though they evolve at Lv. 30

Yeah... Johto might be my favorite main series region to play through, but you gotta admit some of these are really stupid.
Oh yeah cuz Ice doesn't resist Grass. That's so weird, I remember that Ice only resists itself, yet I still don't realise that a Water/Ice type is weak to Grass.

@@chelseaking1735Not true at all. Falkner could have easily used a noctowl or a murkrow or at least a natu. Bugsy could have had a heracross or ariados even ledian would work. Whitney could have had a third pokemon in snubull, Morty could easily have a misdreavus, chuck a heracross, jasmine skarmory and scizor or forretress and pryce a sneasel and there would be nothing wrong with their teams. Who knows why they did this

When first played this game, this battle theme was so nice I didn't wanna the battle to end
This gym leader soundtrack beats all other gens (especially the newer ones) by a long shot. Never got to play this version, but beat the original version on Gameboy Color when I was younger.
I haven't played HG/SS in a long time, but I remember beating Whitney without using the Traded Machop named Muscle. Clair while having the party her Kingdra annihilated me with in Crystal Version. Was able to beat Karen's Umbreon with my Ampharos knowing Signal Beam. Lance was a nightmare.....
The "problem" (I see it as a kind of a challenge rather) with Clair is that she will be at least three or four levels above your party if you don't grind.

@@user-py7yr7nt1m Morty's Gengar isn't too hard. Togetic with Extrasensory, Fearow with Aerial Ace, Noctowl with Confusion and even Miltank with Scrappy ability dominates it.

Also what's-their-name used the instruments from the various DS games for some of the tracks you can hear it in the tracks that would normally have guitars if made into real remixes.
