J-hopes verses get me a lot. He constantly adds flavor to the song. It’s wild that he is the most inexperienced rapper but for some reason I think it results in him being way more flexible and playing with his sound more
You have it exactly right. Us as rappers get rules and boxes drilled into us that it makes us rigid. Yet a free spirit and move like Hobi learns to rap and doesn’t get constrained with archaic ideals and practices and I think that is what allows him to shine along side the rest of the rap line. That freedom if we can call it that is what I think I’ve enjoyed most from him. It’s like hearing your inner self speak when it’s been shackled by learning.
He’s the most inexperienced yes but he’s be rapping for 10+ years at this point.

I think we both folded up laughing at exactly the same time when Jin came out. I've seen these a couple times now but to this day I still can't keep it together with Jin rapping. It's been a hot minute since I've seen this and literal tears were in my eyes cackling. Gosh I love that man so much but he aint got no business rapping, bless his heart. It sounded so cute and funny. Karaoke rapper is the perfect description. Jin never fails to make me smile. Best mathyung we could ask for I swear. A Jin rap album would be amazing. You know he would lean fully into the fun and comedy of it more than anything.

Jimin has a great potential, but most of the time just doesn't take himself seriously and tries to simply have fun. Yoongi really wanted for him to rap and always says how good he would be, but it hasn't really happened yet. Tae also has a lot of potential and a huge fan of all the rapline songs, but they just won't let him in on it for some reason 😅 He used to be not very good at it, specifically his pronunciation. But he grew so much since then, and probably can put out a rap song if he wanted to :)

It's funny because JK was a rapper when they first debuted!!! He was always the main vocalist but he also had rap verses. Just wait until you get into the start of their discography! Jungkook can rap, he isn't a rapper in the sense of always writing his own raps(he has a couple of writing credits for rap verses), but he is technique wise extremely talented and blends in with the rapline so well. In their early days he actually had a lot of rap verses in songs.

Yeah JK raps the most, he rapped in their older songs, but he also replaces the rappers if they can't perform. The latest time was during their end of 2020 performance when he replaced Suga (because he had shoulder surgery)
Inside joke: V is a huge rapline fan (Suga is his bias) and he even perfromed Cypher pt.3 for the 2016 anniversary concert (this Daengg performance is from their 2018 anniversary concert).
V and JK often rap along while rapline is practicing. In October while they were practicing for their Busan concert RM was filming a music video, so V and JK covered his parts during practice.
Another joke: Jin was a rap song called 'Loner' that he ALWAYS raps on karaoke, it is just next level perfomance that everyone has to see in their lifetime. (BTS only have one other group under their Bighit Music label called TXT. And in 2019 when they were doing family pictures one member (whos bias is Jin) was asked what unit does he wanna see. And he said he is an ARMY and that he wants to rap together with Jin. Jin's face and reaction to that was hilarious (btw that TXT members ISN'T a rapper... which makes this so much better and I would kill for their rap collab)

If I remember correctly one of the members once said that Jin raps like a monk saying a prayer! haha and it is kinda spot on! he is more of a karaoke rapper and never takes himself too seriously! But I have to say Jin loves to rap a song called loner by outsider (highly recommend, its insanely fast and difficult) and man he pushes his lungs to the max and somehow manages to pronounce every single syllable! its funny yet amazing to watch!

This was muster 2019concert for anniversary they did it for few days there is other performance where Jk rap this part with different tone and better in my opinion the thing about jungkook that he can change his voice so smoothly to suit whatever the style the song is 💜

ETA: they really do go above and beyond giving back to ARMY. To a degree I don’t think I’ve ever seen in music. They make SO much content just for the fans, they will literally do almost anything to put a smile on their fan’s faces. I honestly think that is the bottom line - the underline - that makes them icons.
They understand and appreciate the real model of the music business. Fan cultivation and retention. Why focus on anything but that especially with how army is. So sweet caring and kind that bring army why wouldn’t they want to just feed content to us.
It’s like a dream scenario for fame.
V could be a rapper he’s just missing a serious tone to his voice. It’s slight but when you don’t rap you sometimes miss this tone inyour delivery so it comes out sounding like you’re reading or like Jin where you know the words but they don’t quite marry to the music cohesively despite being delivered in time to the music.

💯 agree, my favorite live performances of theirs are the ones where they just really go off having fun, like a few for Anpanman or So What they did on tour or during online concerts. Also your giggle is so infectious man, I full on belly laughed along with you on the Jin thing. I love how happy he seems doing it and agree with you that he has no business rapping, but I would listen to a full album of that 😅. When they all did Chicken Noodle Soup together he changed the lyrics to be simpler (just saying the same word several times in a row instead of the actual words) and it was hilarious and became a beloved meme for Army.

BTS always hold a couple weeks long "festival" to celebrate their anniversary, they drop new songs for fans on soundcloud (ddaeng was one of these anniversary celebration drops) as well as make different type of content and this festa concert-ish happening is kinda the finale.
They usually just do fun stuff only meant for army so it's very light hearted and the festa concert always has special performances and small game sections etc.
They all killed it but V was my favorite, he was having so much fun with it 😂😂 and Yoongi's proud look when he rapped his part. precious 😭😭

JK was so good at rapping the rapline tried to get him interested in writing his own because they disnt want to have "idol rappers" ie someone who just raps what others write. Jk was more into Justin Beiber tho so rapper JK only appears in their first year of releases

Ahh there is a lot videos of vocal line rapping and they are great honestly, yeah you hear they do it for fun but still, especially Jin he likes to goof around. But Jin did Suga's "Nevermind" it was wow and song is serious and he really try :D we also call V rap line fan boy he usually learns rap line songs, and raps part especially Suga's (Deagu Boys hah) so we can say he id this guy that listen to songs and try to do them himself so that is why he doing goid always on rap songs, he rapped cypher for fun and he did good.

Jhope's chicken noodle soup has a BTS members live version, that one Jin just makes me laugh my head off.
Check out the live performance of Daechwita where the whole group performs it. Very entertaining, and the boys did their jobs well. It was recorded during the pandemic so although they were performing live, the audience was really a bunch of screens people tuning in live stream. Pandemic or not our boys worked for us 💜

I totally get you though. Also remember they have a live engineer mixing the vocals. Man isn’t mixing those vocals for them to ever be to low. It all comes to how the artist projects their voice into the mic.
