This is the perfect car for 90% of the buying public. It's a lot smarter buy than any electric car. Chevrolet should be making hundreds of thousands of these...they would easily sell every one.
@@EpicDrew15 We went car shopping yesterday and you are right but it's sad. The Malibu Premier was the best car we drove by far. We looked at the 22 Elantra, 22 Civic Sport, and Forte' GT. and a bunch of used cars because inventory was meager. The Malibu just felt like it was in a class above the other vehicles, and the price was reasonable also.
Simply not true. My Malibu has 208,000 miles and the only things done to the car have been normal wear and tear items. It has been the most reliable car I have ever owned.
@@rockford8915 that's good for you. I have an 03 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder with 198k miles on it. But that doesn't mean jack. Mitsubishi Eclipse's are also known for being unreliable sometimes. Just because you got lucky and you have 1 outlier it doesn't mean that only you are correct.
Not many changes to the car since this but the malibu has a special place in my heart. My parents had a 05 malibu and bought it with very little miles on it. At the time i was only 8 years old and we drove around in this everywhere in the chicago area and in 07 we moved to Phoenix and drove it all the way out there. The car had no problems and it was my first car. By the time it was mine it had around 167k on it and it was definitely driven the piss out of. But not a single problem with that car other than typical wear and tear you get. It wasnt treated right at all but i had great times in it and it pulled me and my friends around throughout highshool all around the valley. If the new ones are anything like the one i had, ill definitely buy one (in silver, just like my old one).
I really appreciate the fact you do your homework B4 rolling the camera. Very professional. I think this is a amazing looking car. One of my favorites to consider in May when car shopping. But you sold me on the Civic. Well you and everyone else. Still I hope this is a good car for those who chose it.
It seems so odd to me that they wouldn't pair the red line Edition with the RS package. It seems a more natural fit with the dual exhaust and other accentuations. The LT as I understand it is supposed to be more of a comfort version while the RS is targeted to being sporty.
I own a RS myself and I agree it looks more sporty than the basic and so called luxury LS lol. I like my spoiler and dual exhaust and RS badging. The blacked out grill adds to the aggressive look
Love my 2017 Malibu, it’s nothing special under the hood but it’s quite literally the perfect daily driver. Did an LED conversion on all the lights and also did some fun modifications here and there like wireless CarPlay. Can’t see myself driving anything else as a daily 👌
I really like the Chevy Malibu....do you know until what year Chevy will keep them in production...I would like to pick one up in the next year or 2....good video!
Great review and camera work. A friend of mine bought a 2018 LT with the 6 speed automatic. In these 4 years he had to replace the battery ( the autostop is really hard on them, but he would not disable it) and the shifter problem ( not detecting the lever is in park, which I fixed). I would have bought one if they offer a mechanical transmission. But I like these last generation, not their CVT's. I wish you nothing but the best.
Im looking for me a new car and i think the redline is perfect for me i love the red on the car or maybe because my favorite color is red lol i plan on getting one in a month or so thank you so much for this review I appreciate alot take car and happy new year to you
Will completely agree with you on your review. Mom still loves her new one but if I had been the one buying it I would have went with the 2.0 option. I had to laugh though the first time you steered the car on the drive. I had the same reaction as you. LOL. Shocked though they got rid of the cherry red tint color though. Mom gets a lot of compliments on that color!
The cherry red is still available! Black cherry metallic is more of a burgundy color which I guess wasn’t very popular but yes not a whole lot of steering feel, I’m sure that’s not why most ppl buy this haha wish your mom luck with the car!
Not a bad car, but nothing special for the price range. I can see Chevy loyalists and rental fleets picking these up, but they needed to bring so much more in a segment containing Camry and Accord to be relevant.

I don’t really like the look of the newer Malibu. I have a 14 with 120,000 on it and besides a water pump and regular maintenance things haven’t had issues with it. They are going to focus on electric cars and suv now sadly . 5 years from now people will be forced to buy electric and pay 10,000 for a battery sadly
Same! I have a 2015 and personally think these newer body style ones look even cheaper. And the inside reminds me of a Cruze 🥴🥴 just hit 80k miles love it
$29,000 for this??? At best, this is a $25,099 car. For $32,000 you can get leather, Nav, panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise, full safety suite, heated seats/steering wheel and AWD in the Kia K5.
@@Gbaimageofficialmusicpage its a type of transmission. Instead of gears ⚙️ it uses typically a belt/chain and pulley system. Similar to a snowmobile. They are cheaper to manufacture and typically better on fuel economy but tend to have reliability and drive ability issues - no matter the brand.

Alot of times, yes for sure, but this Malibu is packaged very well. Also, the engineering is top notch. It is lighter than all of the competition save the Accord.
@@markleckband4495 I'm just talking about this particular trim. I know the Malibu offers a panoramic roof. The Koreans pretty much set the bar for features. They were the ones that introduced the panoramic roof, heated rear seats, and ventilated seats. I always go to them as a guide to compare features in other vehicles. Toyota is actually paying attention to their Korean rivals. Hence why they added a panoramic roof on the Camry..Honda is the one that is a day late and a dollar short. The new 2023 Honda CR-V will be a big bust. Still doesn't offer a panoramic roof, ventilated seats, and HUD.
