Depending upon the level (amount) of flow correction you need, you can alternatively also trim maybe an extra 1/4" off the door on the bottom edge.

Gonna put this on my pantry door at the top to let the hot air out

Since hot air rises, should I install on the top of the door? My central air vents are up top since I'm down south so would this hinder the efficacy of the tamarack being installed up top? The return air is in the same hallway between the two guest bedrooms where I'm having issues. The master has its own return. Any input would be appreciated.

Your vents are likely up top because you live in a house that doesn't have a crawlspace for the ducts to be in, so they are ran overhead. Has nothing to do with being in the South.

Yes, hot air rises, but cold air falls. Hence, the reason for the vent to be at the bottom of the door to keep the cold air circulating back to the return of the AC unit. The AC unit works harder if it has to suck in hot air rather than sucking in cold air, if that makes sense.

@@alansunday That makes absolutely no sense.

Is there a difference installing at the top of the door?

would this provide enough air intake to use it on the closet door of the closet where they put my hvac unit?

How thick is that door? We need one of these, but I'm struggling with the dimensions and being certain this will work.

The depth of the door should be 1 3/8 thick
