I actually didn't play/practice much this week, was too bummed with the whole dumb timer drama to really touch the game. But sometimes not playing for a week or more can help reset your head which helps a lot.
Long story short, the framecounter is inaccurate, and apparently it can't be fixed. However, the solution proposed was to simply remove it which is a TERRIBLE idea because of how unoptimized this game is and how big of an advantage anyone with a top-tier pc would have since they would never drop a single frame. Every single frame drop even if it's from 60 to 59 instantly means timeloss, and when this happens constantly throughout the entire run, this translates into a massive disadvantage (easily 10-40s in total depending how far away from top-tier your PC is) for anyone with not just a mediocre PC, but even a not god-tier PC. Basically, instead of having a difference of frames (maybe a few seconds worst case scenario) between runs, they'd rather have 10-40s. Insane. The whole drama started because of the argument that since bad PCs (like mine) drop a lot of frames and therefore the timer gives back a lot of frames, this creates a big advantage for people with bad PCs. But, we still haven't seen any proof of this. In fact, everything points towards this not being true. 1. If this were true I would have the best segment in long and laggy sections like WH, Bulldozer, Krauser, etc, and yet I don't (of course me having the best segment anywhere still doesn't prove anything since my execution is really good regardless, wouldnt have to be because of the timer necessarily) 2. Derek (who has a really good PC and never drops frames) has equal or better segments than me pretty much everywhere. Since we know our execution is pretty much equally as good, how is this possible? If I was saving time unfairly with the timer I'd be way ahead of Derek on these segments. 3. The vast majority of segments where my gold is the fastest across all runners can easily be attributed to the fact that, plain and simple, my execution is good AND keyboard and mouse is far more optimal than controller which is what all top runners use. We've known the latter for a very long time, but apparently people ignore this now.
@@sawkenspeedrun I cannot agree more with you. Keyboard and mouse is definitely far more optimal than controller like doing quick turn, aiming and merchant work. As a big fan of Yuushi, I have to say your execution is insane asf and a bit better than Yuushi in some splits especailly on chapter 5.

How I usually watch a speedrun : village to Dal Lago to cabin to castle room to Navistadors to Goat ornament room to Knight room to Navistador 2 and 3 to island where 5.4 is the main difference maker.
It's on the splits, 1:18:55. It doesnt mean much though, because there's about 25s of fake/unrealistic golds and the game is very execution heavy, long, and full of RNG, therefore the perfect time will never be achieved. Closest we could theoretically get is around 1:20:30.
