A dear (now retired) friend of mine when undercover had a violent offender who was wanted a car ahead of him. Criminal was black, my friend was white. My friend would not engage with the criminal as he said his life would be over. He radioed in for a black officer to come and do the takedown. He received a lot of flak at the time, but wasn't going to risk his reputation, job and peace and security of his family. In view of this British case, who can blame him?
I think you may be missing the wood for the trees there. In that situation, he wouldn't have been able to make _any_ arrest *without blowing his cover* and thereby his whole investigation, which would have included months of work by numerous people. Nothing to do with colour of the suspect.

I think the fact he’s been saying sentences for many people jailed due to the protests have been ridiculously long shows he’s been supporting him since he was jailed. A dear (now retired) friend of mine when undercover had a violent offender who was wanted a car ahead of him.
Criminal was black, my friend was white. My friend would not engage with the criminal as he said his life would be over. He radioed in for a black officer to come and do the takedown.
He received a lot of flak at the time, but wasn't going to risk his reputation, job and peace and security of his family. In view of this British case, who can blame him?
I think you may be missing the wood for the trees there. In that situation, he wouldn't have been able to make _any_ arrest *without blowing his cover* and thereby his whole investigation, which would have included months of work by numerous people. Nothing to do with colour of the suspect.
