I was sure they were going to flop and bankrupt trying to ramp up their production numbers. Great to see them refining the product for easier service and manufacturability but shame that EV sales have died down a bit recently
@darekmistrz4364 I think products like this could change that.... too optimistic? I feel like there are options in EV space but any traditional oem option is usually just a gas vehicle with a battery power train
@@Fakechainboiiieeee I think the charging infrastructure just isn’t there yet and hybrid gas/electric is the answer for the foreseeable future. People with one vehicle shouldn’t own a EV yet.

As a Tesla owner, I have to admit I'm impressed with Rivian's progress and commitment. Keep in mind the CEO is an actual mechanical engineer, not just a businessman.
R1 walked so the R2 could run. The lessons learned and the evolution of the R1 bodes well for a refined modern R2. This makes me even more glad that I reserved an R2 on launch day.
Exactly. R2 at $45-60k will be good. If Rivian offers these R1 refreshes (motor, battery, interior, cameras, headlight, or chromatic roof) as top-trim or add-ons people will happily spec out R2 for $60-80k. I love everything about R1 but it's 15% too big for my garage.
Kyle, you have no idea how much we appreciate your nerd level 1000 videos. Thanks for all your dedication to detail and all the time you spend cranking out quality content. For anybody who is on the fence of what EV to buy, this is the best inside information one can get.
As someone who currently drives a Subaru Crosstrek, I'm seriously excited about the R3 coming in several years. The R1 will help fund the release of the R2 which will help fund the release of the R3. Good luck, Rivian!
Incredible amounts of detailed info and love all of the interviews with the Rivian Team Members!! Incredible content and passion as always!! You’re single-handedly the reason our family has gone all-electric! ⚡️🙌🥇
Loved the movie, Kyle! I truly appreciate your deep, technical insights. Your ability to provide feedback and properly interview various team members is second to none. You were made for this. Looking forward to your review of the production models. 👍
Thanks for the coverage as always. Feels like only yesterday the last raffle happened! Last winner was a stones throw from me so here's hoping I absorbed some luck from them this go around : P
Great video, never complain about too much content! Rivian really are continuing to step up their game, so many of these updates are exceptionally thoughtful.
After watching your review of the deficiencies of the self driving feature, including lack of lane centering and failure to “map” major roads in Colorado, I am seriously considering canceling my order set for delivery in September!
I would love to see upscaled interior options and quiet cabins. The cabin noise and quality of materials were a big disappointment in the previous revision.
One of your best videos. Thank you. I’ve kinda avoided lately one reason I have a model X now but this was awesome info and loved your presentation!!!! Awesome job!!!
1:15:00 - On the charger pad, they really need to make them Qi2 with magnetic hold. I have a third party replacement charge pad/storage bin in mine, and it is *SO* much better. MagSafe puck under a slightly grippy surface, holds great. (And has a little "dip" toward the front to allow camera bumps to sit down while the actual charge section is flush with the surface.)
13:23 shows 92.5 kwh but Rivian website shows 106 kwh. Did they bump them down that much? What are we looking at regarding range? Isn't current model ~2.3 mi/kwh?
If they have really fixed the heat problem while high speed charging then I will finally get one but that was a "nova-mexican" moment for me. great in depth review. You do your reasearch. Well done.
I have a complaint. This video should have been 3 hours. Awesome video as always, and extremely happy to see Rivian continue to innovate thoughtfully with customers in mind. I too have a '23 Quad R1T and while I love it, I may consider down the road optioning for the tri motor variant in Storm Blue (epic). The new quad, while sweet, is far more than I would need.
Excellent Kyle. Trust you to give us everything we wanted to know, and then some about the refreshed Rivians. Price list and options are up on their site now! No one mentioned to photochromic roof option on Ascent models.
That is a nothing burger IMO. Who cares. You will need an adapter to use NACS(Current models) or will need an adapter to use CCS(future models). You can't get away from needing an adapter.
@@gregpochet4812 Except NACS is the standard for many things moving forward, so you're not going to need a CCS adapter once that starts to phase out in the US. There will be a point.

Great vid, as ever. Rivian going from strength to strength. PS for the in-car driving shots: all you need to do is show the windscreen view full screen, overlaid with small screen in the bottom-left showing you/occupant (believe Smoking Tire uses that approach).
Interior: I like the Forest Edge + Brown Ash wood. What happens to the thousands of 21" wheel R1T?S users with the dropping of the 21" wheels? Will any tire companies other than Pirelli develop 21" tires?
As an R1S owner I’m really glad this doesn’t look too much different to the outgoing R1. Lots of great changes. Big fail on the phone charger though - with the card sensor built in I wonder if folks can even do the s00nish upgrade (which works great). Probably not which is a shame.
Per usual, great update. Totally intrigued by the Tesla PR refresh strategy vs Rivian. I appreciate Rivian giving all the TH-camrs access ahead of time to optimize the launch. With all that said, I need some halp from the community. Yesterday I pulled the trigger on a 24 quad R1S (I was encouraged to jump on it since they released new inventory from the factory yesterday) and now I'm torn. The better thermals are the real thing that interests me as someone who tows often. I'd love to see towing performance down low, though.
