Yeah that's a great video. I used to go out on Dinner lake in Sebring, Florida when it was really rough and go up into the weeds near shore and jig a bare hook over where a fish was bedding and they would bite the bare hook. I would release them of course.
Well worth the trouble I’m loving this 👍🏻, sight fishing under bridges /structures is hard work but often hides the biggest urban predators. I felt the adrenaline rush on every cast well done 🤘🏻

You’ll get better and more realistic swimming action from swim baits like that if you rig them level. You have the hook going too far down the lure and it’s curving upwards in the tail. Bring the hook point out sooner so the bait lays more level and you have a more realistic profile and better swimming action. I’ve always noticed you rig them that way and it clearly works a lot of the time. But I think you’ll get more hits rigging it level.

Make your way to the aerojet cannal at mm 28 heading to the keys. Lots of these guys around there. The trick to catching them is you gotta piss them off. Fast erratic retrieve. Top water plugs work to pull them from the nest. The mayan cichlids put up a great fight as well and attack when you pull through thier fry. Also a great color pattern.

When you rig your paddle tail you don’t want any bends in it. It won’t swim correctly might even spin in the water. GL & tight lines 👍🏼
