G'day mate, I've noticed there are a few different 6203RS bearings, one has a 17mm ID and one has a 5/8" ID (15.9mm) you wouldnt happen to know which one I would be after? Also, to save a bit of coin on the gear puller, would you have another suggestion? I was thinking about levering 2 spanners underneath but I can see the gear coming off on the piss Cheers
I'd say regarding the bearing issue, either take the old one into a bearing place and get them to match it, or measure the shaft with a set of verniers. But that's odd that the part number would bring up 2 different bearings. The screw driver idea can work, but what i would suggest, is getting an assistant to tap the shaft out while levering. Do it carefully though, as if you damage the thread on the shaft, you can chuck the pump away.
Hello. I am your new subscriber from Indonesia. Please ask if there is a power steering pump pressure test tool after we repair the Power Steering Pump like in your Vlog before we install it in the car unit. If so, where can I buy it? and finally, what should be the normal power steering pump pressure? Thank You .
@darmawanwardhana1836 Hi there. Yes you can buy a power steering pressure tester. Ebay has them. I'm not sure what the pressure should be though. But the specifications would be in your service manual.
I've watched your video many times and found it very useful in rebuilding my own LC 80 pump. What would be the free length size of the spring as it should be based of the manufacturer's service manual ? Thank you for your input
Very nice! Thank you for taking the time to post this. I replaced the original pump with TWO different re-manufactured ones that are both extremely noisy. I still have the original pump and this video will go a long way towards helping me to rebuild it. I heard that the gear needs to be driven on there with just the right amount of spacing between the gear and the housing or the pump will be noisy. Have you ever experienced or heard of that being the case? Thanks again for this content! Very timely.
Cheers mate, yeah the spacing will be on the inside of the pump when you fit the bearing. You'll see where the old bearing lines up on the shaft. Just make sure the bearing sits in the right place and it will be fine. If not, it makes a bit of a supercharger whine. LoL
@@wilddonkeyadventuresHey mate! I’ve got a super whiny pump, definitely the supercharger whine you’re talking about. How do i make sure it is lining up correctly as mentioned above, if it’s already not right?
@@brockcooper6234 I just put up with it hey LoL. My noise was caused mainly by the power steering pump just being a little bit out. But it eventually quietened down, kinda makes it sound tough LoL
@@wilddonkeyadventures Oh! Thank you! I thought it was the drive gear itself that needed to be driven on to a certain depth. I was not aware it was actually the bearing inside the pump that's the culprit of that chirping/whining noise. My old pump was not noisy at all. It just leaked a bit.
Who needs photos whrn you have this video. Great video!
@richardwilliams8667 Thanks heaps mate!
Thank you
great video m8, im yet to rebuild the power steering pump on my 90 series prado
Cheers mate! The principle should still be the same with the 90, just put it all back together the same way it came apart.
Thank you very much for taking time and recording this excellent video. Where do you normally buy the genuine parts in Australia from please?
From your local Toyota dealership, or Partsouq
Nice job fella
Much obliged!

Hey mate you got a link to that parts diagram you with the torque specs etc
Not a link unfortunately, i just bought one of those pdf manuals off ebay with all the specs in it. Was about 10 bucks i think.
