- Finally, we get a glimpse of the Krotov Wide Body Kit mocked up in place on the Q50 and I must say it's gonna be killer!! The main purpose of this video will be the DIY preparation, paint, and installation of the Duckbill spoiler!

That came out great!! I have a compressor and spray gun but prefer the rattle can mixed from my local paint shop..under $50 bucks and amazing DIY achievement. Like u said its a daily.. I call any blemishes "beauty marks".. gives the car character 👍🏽
Eventually I will be buying a junker to rebuild and when that happens I will def Need to get a compressor setup running but for individual parts the cans do work just fine. Beauty marks haha, I like that!

alex vallejo also since you are a k23 guy, check out the chrome delete video I have as well. There is a vinyl in that video I used that matches our paint code damn near exact.
Love your videos man. Car is coming along nicely too! I had a question though... I just got my Krotov duckbill spoiler in yesterday and dropped it off at my local paint guy today. Should be ready mid-week and I need to find the best double sided tape to use to make sure it stays on. What tape did you use on yours? I'm leaning towards 3M VHB 5952 so far... Thanks in advance
Nice add me on Instagram so I can see the end result, _foxcraze! Anyway as for the VHB yes that tape will be great to use, that is what I plan to use for the wide body panels. I used the 3m 1” wide automotive tape from autozone for my duckbill and it’s not moved an inch. But I would have used the VHB if I knew the difference at the time!!

Thanks a lot! That was actually a custom mixed and filled can of color matched k23. Car Quest and many other auto body supply shops will mix it for you to spray if you have the code!

Wing looks awesome! Does anyone know if this krotov wing fits on an 2018 q50?
It will fit, the top of the trunk is same shape in all years. The difference is in the tail light buckets and the delete of the lower trim panel under license plate.
i thot about getting this it but i love bolt ons so im gonna adapt a g37 bolt on kit in to the q50 instea of what ur doing and suffer a little more doing fabrications lmao also amazing vids man !!!!

What paint and clear coat did ya use ??? It look awesome
I had the paint color matched and put into aerosol cans at advance auto parts near me that had a paint mixing station in the back. I purchased the spraymax2k clear gloss from them as well. I appreciate the feedback!
@@Foxcraze u think the single step 2k spray max will work?
So the clear needs to be 2k not 1k and have the hardener included. 1K clear doesn’t harden like automotive grade clear does and it will be prone to damage easier. If the lid has a red plug on top of it then you are good to go.
Hey man, I know this is an old video and I have yet to catch up, but I was wondering, would the front cameras from the oem grille work with this blitz bumper? I’m not sure if it’s as simply as swapping the old grille into the new bumper, or if modifications would have to be done.
The grille is mounted to the stock bumper with hardware and would transition to a blitz bumper easily.

Yo I’m bout to order the duck bill for my Jetta. How long did it take to ship to ur house?
Mine took 7 months but that’s because I bought it as a preorder before it was even produced. They average 2-4 weeks now due to Covid.
I just installed this on mine and I feel like the top corners and the sides won’t stick at all. I even used adhesive promoter and it never goes flush. Any tips?
It could have warped in shipment. Heating the corners and lips then applying pressure till it cools will reshape the abs to your trunks contours!
Where do you get the paint and how do you make sure it’s the same color?
The paint can be purchased online or at a paint store where paint mixing for automotive paint is done. Mine was bought at an advanced auto parts that had a paint mixing section. You give them the color code of the vehicle and they will mix it to match based on that code. The newer the car the better that match will be due to sun fade and all that affecting the original color.

You may be better off than I am at doing this and knock it out quickly. My issue isn’t nothing with the kit because it fits wonderfully. What I don’t want to do is use rivets or screws but I also didn’t want to permanently bond it to the car in the event of a collision, the likely hood of the kit being repairable is greatly increased. That said the kit doesn’t sit flush enough in all areas to be bonded with tape so I’m still working a solution.
How long did the kit take to get to your house mines is taking forever
Mine took about 4-5 months. Everything is delayed when it’s coming from over seas currently. I’m sure the waiting sucks but it will come. They have a good response time when being messaged on Instagram. Hit them up on there and enquire as to what the status is; if you haven’t already.

Ik this is old but can u share link to the paint u used for duckbill?
I purchased my paint from an advanced auto that has a paint mixing station. But you can also get it online premixed. Look up 66autocolor.com as they have a bunch of spraymax options. Alternatively, you can also go to automotivetouchup.com and get their brand mixed by them as well.

I hate the over use of carbon and abs black plastics. It all ends up looking like replaced parts after a wreck from a distance lol

Mine took months because I was the first one to buy it and the mold wasn’t even produced yet. I am hearing from other who have bought that it was only a few weeks wait now!

Since it is made of a fairly rigid plastic, I didn’t use any and have had zero issues with chipping or peel.
Other question it is this abs plastic ? Cause i saw in ebay this kind of wing but in fiber glass
The Krotov wing is abs plastic. If you’re seeing a fiberglass version on eBay then it’s a mold of the original and will prob not fit well.
What paint did you use for this?
I bought spraymax base and spraymax 2k clear coat. My local advanced auto has a paint mixing station in the back and all they need it your paint code.
