- Long time no see it's Luxe Crux back at it with another video! In this video I try to play through some of Very Hard versions of some of Sonic's levels in Sonic 06! I've 100 percented Sonic 06 before will I be able to beat the hardest challenge the game throws at me?

I didn’t even know Sonic 06 HAD DLC, but only a few minutes in and I already completely understand why no one talks about it

Going from P-06 to Retail ‘06 is like going from v2.2 of SRB2 to v2.1; it just feels so naked.
Sonic Robo Blast 2 died with 2.0, assoon as they replaced the soundtrack and graphics to be more like Mania. I swear Mania is a blight on this whole franchise. Plus the modern community is extremely toxic towards anyone who disagrees with how they did things.

@@genyakozlov1316 Idk how the current srb2 community acts that much but I understand why they wouldn't respond with kindness with how you're saying srb2 is dead and terrible and everyone is toxic. Also I haven't really noticed much similarity to Sonic Mania in 2.2 other than just polishing up the graphics and music, the characters all retain their original colors and are shaded in a way that doesn't really resemble mania's brighter colors, nor do their expressions resemble Tyson Hesse animation/expressions. Sorry you can't enjoy 2.2 as much as most other people for whatever reason. Just play your favorite version and don't bring unneeded unwanted and unconstructive criticism to places that don't want or need it or where it isn't on topic.
I think having one of the Shadow DLC levels require a glitch to beat via intentional design is probably the best back handed "fuck you" a dev has ever given its publisher.
It's because the levels were made for fans of the game that already knew all the stupid garbage glithces
It's like "Very Hard" difficulty literally turns these levels into "Kaizo"
I find it funny that Saga added DLC to this game but did not patch the original game
I got the DLC for 06 years ago and I found it really fun, I like how the level designs were changed pretty significantly so it's not just the same level but with more spikes or something. There's a DLC called Team Attack Amigo (I think) that a lot of people rather like as far as 06 goes.
Yeah the side characters play better especially tails speed imo

There’s actually a very hard shadow level that REQUIRES a glitch to beat the level. You have to intentionally chaos snap through a box or laser gate if I remember. Yes sega actually used a glitch intentionally. Also in the “team attack amigo” DLC they made tails faster for no reason.
You should play Shadows very hard stages, they are very unique and revolve around Team Dark in every stage.
Thinking of livestreaming the rest of these and posting edited VODs I'll definitely cover Shadow!

I'd love to see it! Haven't played P06 yet but I feel like it'll be a fresh experience even though it's basically recreating a game! Only thing we have right now is the Xenia modding community for harder 06 stages.

I knew Unleashed HD had DLC. Not this, though. I hope they incorporate this stuff into Project 06, because I'm planning on playing that once it's complete. This and Unleashed HD are the only Sonic games I've never played since they never got PC releases.
Hey man we are in the same position, I never played both Sonic 06 and SU HD, they were the only few main games that I haven't beat, just like you. But this week, I got a powerful enough PC to emulate Sonic 06 on Xenia and SU in RPCS3. So... I finally can say that I beat all the mainline Sonic games. Hope you get that same opportunity one day, wish you all the luck

The DLC stages were made around the initial jank and awkwardness that Retail has. Hence the awkward jumps at the beginning of Wave Ocean lol

Also if you want to see something funny, try throwing a sky gem at the top of the gate at the start of wave ocean very hard as sonic where the whale usually throws you up to at the end of the normal and hard mode versions of the level. (purple gem jumping up there works too) looking forward to more in future.
i can't believe they actually released this game in that state and just left it, never even bothered to patch sonic's movement. it looks worse than any sonic fan game released ever. all those years and i still cant believe it.
I'm gonna say some controversial shit-
Sonic Frontiers Another Story has the same issues as the Sonic 06 DLC. Obviously there is a fuckin INSANE gap in quality between the two base games, Frontiers is great. But SonicTeam, when given the opportunity to continue working on a Sonic game after release, will, instead of focusing on fixing core issues, will do a few fixes but then just make MORE stuff to pile on top. And with Frontiers that new stuff STILL has unfinished bits, albeit small [like the lack of any tutorial at all with the new characters, the unbalanced Tower trials where the first and fifth ones are the hardest and 3 & 4 are jokes, missing voice lines during some optional conversations]
We now know for certain that the bulk of issues with Sonic development over the past 20 years were due to SEGA Sammy, but clearly SonicTeam isn't totally innocent either.

I think the Team Amigo DLC could have been great, if there were completely new stages used instead of the same ones.
So just so you know they intend people to use the bugged abilities for sonic and shadow to complete these. Theres literally a level for shadow that you cant complete without using a bug from one of his chaos abilities

That's the thing it WAS installed. The base game loads better but the DLC unironically took 2 minutes

Yeah the level design is cool it's just that 06's quirks make it a smidge more difficult
@@LuxeCrux it's like the devs tested the game by themselves in a super end compatible computer with dev camera controls to test it and uploaded it like that without consideration of the lag or such
Thanks for this video, I should probably buy all the DLCs for Sonic Unleashed and some gamerpics, just to have them. Heck, if I can use the gamerpics on modern Xbox, it's probably worth buying them despite their low resolution. Plus, custom gamerpics require an adult Microsoft account (18 and up, I'm pretty sure), for whatever reason.
Sonic 06 DLC is the pinnacle of torture. Worse than waterboarding, honestly.
BTW Sonic Unleashed also has DLC, though it isn't as in-depth as Sonic 06's DLC

@@evdestroy5304Not confirmed but it’s a decent theory,after all Awakening was apparently developed enough to have voice acting from Silver’s VA but not to the point where it got leaked like most Sonic games so Awakening being DLC instead of a separate game makes sense.
