  • 📌 Hello everyone, this is a video on how to use HARIO's V60 switch dripper (IMMERSION 02) that can be used like a standard V60 pourer or immersion brewer. We show how to use it as an immersion brewer, resulting in a heavier body and deeper extraction.

    Questions:
    1. One minute steep (with all the water in)?
    2. As to better fine tune the recipe, what's your total draw down time?
    3. Discarding the bloom, can you please describe the flavor profile? For this recipe (totally aware this is coffee beans dependant)

      1. Yes, 1 minute steep after pouring the desired water amount
      2. As it was quite a while ago, I am not too sure, prob around 40 sec; but we also didn't really mind the total draw down time.
      3. Well its coffee bean dependent as you mentioned, in general discarding bloom just helps with a cleaner and sweeter brew. You can check my other video about discarding the bloom or even Tales Coffee's videos where they use different methods of bloom (such as cold bloom or one pour).
      Ultimately, have a go yourself, and tune it according to your coffee beans and preference.

    Discard the bloom?

      Yes, I like to usually brew it this way (there's a video about "Discard Bloom Method" in my channel for more info), have a try yourself and see how you go with it! :)

    is this the same coarseness as a normal V60?

    • @jeffersonchen9609
      @jeffersonchen9609  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you mean by a 'normal V60', however because this is an immersion dripper, the coarseness of the ground coffee is not as important.

    • @manuelpenaruiz3694
      @manuelpenaruiz3694 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jeffersonchen9609 how is that coarseness isn't that important? I mean, as far as I know grind size is always important. Or do you mean that's not 'as critical" maybe?

    • @jeffersonchen9609
      @jeffersonchen9609  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@manuelpenaruiz3694 Because it is an immersion brew, the coarseness would not significantly affect the extraction process because the contact time between the coffee ground and water is continuous (stays steeping) as opposed to water draining through the coffee from normal pour over. Usually, coarseness changes the contact time by changing the speed in which the water is drained (coarse = faster, fine = slower), hence here it is not as important.
