      Recently received my C60 Lumière (Black). Love this damn watch! I don't know what people are talking about regarding quality issues. My watch is immaculate and currently runs at +1 second per day.
      I gave the customer support team so much hell (because of the wait time *COSC certification & customs*. They were so patient and accommodating that I feel like a butt-hole now. They even shipped me the magazine issue that has the Lumière on the cover (upon request). And I really didn't deserve it😂
      If anyone from CW team reads this, Art Baldwin thanks you sincerely.

    A week ago, my cielo Bel Canto arrived. I am not wealthy. I'm neither a "watch enthusiast" nor do I collect watches. Doing my due diligence led me quickly "down the rabbit hole"-the reputation, history, technology, and complications are overwhelming. But every time I look at it on my wrist or hear it "ding" on the hour, it makes me smile, and I can't think of a better watch purchase. Christopher Ward deserves success.

    This is my personal experience with Christopher Ward customer service, I was trying to get a replacement strap for my C40 Speedhawk that I bought in 2004 as I remember but unfortunately CW doesn’t do one anymore because of the age so it was suggested I send the old broken bracelet to assess and repair if it could be done. Not only did CW repair the bracelet but did it as a good will gesture I didn’t even have to pay for carriage, I suppose it helps I live in the uk. As soon as a can justify it I’m placing an order for a Sealander GMT with white dial and Bader bracelet in 39mm. There are always moaners and negative comments from some but I had nothing but ‘good’ service from them.

    I see a lot of parallels between CW and Frédérique Constant. FC was founded by two watch enthusiasts and started by making lower cost luxury style watches and developed into an innovative watchmaker that produces some very horologically credible high quality, reasonably priced timepieces. Unlike CW, however, FC no longer is independent and is now part of the Citizen group. CW also has been a major player in revitalizing the British watchmaking industry and has generated a lot of home brand support. An interesting contrast in that regard is Shinola, which was established with much fanfare about re-establishing an American watchmaking industry but seems to have settled into being little more than an assembler of fashion watches.

    Just bought a C65 Aquitaine GMT. I saw that it was pre-order so I emailed a few questions. They were extremely helpful and threw in a free strap when I ordered. Just got the watch and, even though I had never seen it in person, I'm blown away by the detail and quality. If I'm being nit picky, I don't love the bracelet clasp aesthetically but I love the microadjustments. The Sellita SW330-2 movement is decent and the rest of the watch feels up to the standard of watches selling for 5x the price. I suspect this watch will be in my rotation for a very long time (and my son already has his eye on it).

    I'm part of a Christopher Ward Enthusiast forum and lately a lot of members have been complaining about CW's quality control. From constant delays for delivery to AR coatings bubbling to scratches on bracelets of brand new watches. Even I had to return my never used Bel Canto because of a loose bracelet issue. To their credit they did fix it, but for a flagship model that's disappointing. Perhaps they're growing too fast and quality is hurting because of it.

    • @Bloodrozer
      @Bloodrozer 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @@tomfox2271 Those are just the complains you hear about. Also, that still could suggest an increased focus on production and volumes which with the same resources necessarily means lowered focus on QC. In my personal experience their newer watches have had more issues than in prior years and there is no questioning that they have stepped on the gas pedal for 3 years now, pumping out model and variation after one another.

    • @NateSF1
      @NateSF1 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

      I had some QC issues as well. I got a Trident and the first arrived with a cracked bezel insert. It looked as if it had been dropped during manufacturing. The replacement has a loose bezel, misaligned date wheel/window and runs +20spd. The return process is a bit of a pain, so I just gave up and kept it. I never wear it because it’s annoyingly inaccurate for a daily wear.

    • @Bloodrozer

      @denisnako811 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I dont think they're growing too fast. They ve been around for 20 years and just last year they made decent profit. However all big brands who sell a lot of watches have QC issues. Look at longines, a lot of people are complaining about QC issues with the brand. Longines is the first to come to mind because they sold over 3m units last year but Im sure there's other brands as well. Point is, when you grow and start selling a lot of watches, you will have qc issues its inevitable. What matters is that their customer service is top notch and takes care of you. That being said from my understanding CW customer service is pretty good and they take good care of their customers

    I visited CW's showroom in Maidenhead in October '23. The sales representative (Declan, and I hope I got his name right this time) made my stay really enjoyable, let me take a look on all the watches I decided to see beforehand, also showing me the different strap options they have to offer. I love the Bel Canto for its lovely chime ("It never gets old"), even more now with the new structured "classic" dials. But most of all I wanted to see The Twelve on my wrist. I love the colour options, but chose the Arctic White dial option, which makes it most versatile for me, also fitting in my collection of mostly black dials as an alternative. Declan (thank you for your effort and patience) needed some time to find it, and I believe I got the last one on stock. After about an hour I left the showroom as a happy customer, which I still am.

I own 3 Christopher Ward watches, far more than any other brand and I plan on buying a few more (still want to buy the Twelve and a Bel Canto). I know there's been some complaints about their customer service from time to time, I can say I have only received excellent customer support both pre and after purchase but your mileage may vary. Prices have been creeping up though. For now they still offer competitive pricing but if they continue to push the rates up then they will move into a whole different territory and will have to compete with other brands.

    Teddy, I absolutely love your content. I'm just getting into watches and have found your videos engaging, informative and balanced. I do think you overlooked one line from CW and that's the C65 line. I recently purchased a C65 Aquitaine GMT in orca black and it's pure retro sex appeal. It references the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and is a reasonable analog for the Longines Spirit Zulu at less than half the price (although admittedly it can't keep up in terms of the movement). I also love the C65 Dune's field-inspired looks. I think the C65 line gets overshadowed by some of the other lines including the Bel Canto, 12 and Trident, but it's definitely worth exploring if you did another feature on CW. Keep up the great work!

The wind isn't quite as smooth on the CW and the internals are more mundane, but panic doesn't set in if I drop it or scratch it. My choice is rarely talked about, at least compared to other models. I'm more of a field watch guy, at least for my first mechanical watch, and it was between the Hamilton or the CW Dune and in the sand dial.

    I’m lucky to own a large collection of CW pieces, that sit well alongside my Rolex, Omega and Breitlings. My one hope is for CW is to start looking for alternatives to the Sellita SW200-1 movements. The power reserve is low, the accuracy isn’t great sometimes, and they can suffer from hand winding related problems, just like the ETA equivalent. Now the overall quality and finishing is being improved across the board, either a new in-house movement, or a superior movement would take Christopher Ward to new heights.
