I happened to pick up a 40 year old Pedersoli Kentucky rifle, the lock worked ok, but the flint was left in a leather pad for many, many years and it took me a while to clean that one up, so second not leaving the flint in the lock in the leather. I change out the leather on my locks every so often just because it soaks up not only moisture, but the salt from my skin.
Excellent information from someone that knows! One problem of using grease is that as the grease dries, it is forced away from the working areas that it was put on to protect, so we have a mechanism working in a completely dry environment with a cocoon of solidified grease surrounding it , which is no good. Many thanks for your sensible videos! Chris B.
Always looking forward to your videos. Well done sir.
Thanks.
