I agree. Many people really disliked it for being different. But it has sooo many hidden details and meanings that are really meaningful. I honestly didn’t click with this album at first, but then I grew to like it.
I love this song and the album. I think that these people are thinking to shallow to acknowledge the depth of this song. They are trying to reform it to fit into their religious standards.
This solo from this song is one of the best, in my top 5 all genres list. So emotional, so melodic, so much feel....something I feel many miss now in the era of shred
Some of the guys in the band went to a Catholic school and grew up Christians, that's why alot of their old music from the album, Waking the Fallen, has biblical refrences. They have a song from that song called chapter 4, which is the story of Cain and Able. The band's name is Avenged sevenfold , which was the punishment inflicted on Cain. Very cool, I'd love to see you two give chapter 4 a listen.
They have a lot more biblical themes and references, across their wntire discography, their name is a bible reference. To my knowledge I believe they are Christians.
In general, people understands better a song lyric by just reading it. This song is the greatest example of a lyric you understand WAY better by seeing than reading. Just watch the music video while listen the song. Everything will make sense.
A7X is truly a masterpiece. They are definitely the Iron Maiden/Black Sabbath of my generation. 20 years down the road, these will be amazing classics! Dear God, 4AM, Blinded in Chains, and so many more good songs. Have been a fan for 13+ years! Have been to several concerts, his voice is pretty shot if you catch him on a bad night. Other than that I love'em.
Yes! Get home from work and you guys have this posted! :D As always I appreciate the depth to which you both go in these reactions, avenged songs have a lot of deep meaning and I feel like you both nail it every time.
Also, I bet the singer totally knew what he was writing with the snake rattle part. :p They've been full of biblical references since the very beginning, and Matt Shadows is a pretty amazing writer. I also feel I should mention just in case you guys didnt know, the album The Stage has a lot to do with space, artificial intelligence, and the destruction of society, which is what the whole "This is just a simulation" thing is about in the song. Im not sure if that would change the way you interpret the lyrics, just trying to share some info :)
The world is the Stage and we are all performing on it. Great breakdown guys always interesting listening to you analyse these songs and lyrics. This song is awesome one of their best. Please react to Buried Alive and Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold. Keep on rocking \m/
I see someone already suggested I Won't See You Tonight by Avenged Sevenfold, but if you guys decide on more A7X reactions I think The Wicked End or MIA would be great. Both epic songs with phenomenal instrumentation. The former is about the apocalypse and the latter is a tribute to our soldiers. They also both have some of their absolute best guitar solos which is nice.
So glad I found I found this channel last night love how you guys emotionally connect with these songs as do I and I'm sure everybody else watching avenged and tool are 2 of my favorite bands would love to see u guys react to Deftones
I‘m still at min 14, and I have the though than vin about what „the stage“ means .... I also recommend u to watsh the official music video of it, it‘s interresting and showing literally normal people on a stage controlled by the main politicians, those also are controled by a bigger or more powerfull unknown x. I‘ve kinda spoiled the main idea of it but i just found that insane when it just came out, and loved to share it with you. Keep on the great analysis :D I repeat again, love your work guys!!
Being a fan of the band for 14 years and seeing people reacting to new music from various artists is always a treat because they are very open minded, but you cant help but love and appreciate how intelligent Vin is when studying lyrical content and understanding their meaning in one listen thank you both of you for always a great listen as I'm going through the catalog of songs you've done
And just when I thought I was looking at yet another reaction video on TH-cam, I found that you guys really put thoughts into the music pieces. I watched the music video at first and had a slightly different view on the song. But after your comment on the “snake-rattle the mind” part I suddenly realized something too. There’s much more to discover and you have been doing a great job. I do appreciate that very much. Bravo :)
VinAnd Sori most people new to this band go to their more mainstream tracks first. I appreciate how you two went to a very complex song. Two thumbs up!
Really love how you both really embrace syns playing. I think yall should check out this acoustic song they did called "Dear God". It's a deep song. It's just so much different than the normal stuff they do. Just shows really the flexibility and diversity of their styles. Give it a try.
You are very right. I was worried about tools army taking over xD so glad to see another a7x vid ^.^ These guys are beast at live too. Check out their live performance on LBC to find out too. you guys are awesome specially at understanding the lyrics and story of the songs. Keep it up

Great song!! I know you can't post it due to copyright stuff but if you haven't definitely check out the music video to this song!!! Definitely makes more sense
The Stage is an excellent album. The topics they wrote about for this album are great. Space, Artificial Intelligence, War... I would recommend you listen to it in its entirety if you haven't already.

I really enjoyed your subtle rewiew of 'Exist'.. You guys are the best in your thing. And I recommend you rewiew this song 'The Stage ' with the official music video for better understanding of the lyrics.. Well done nonetheless
Love how you guys broke the song down because there’s so much going on and the chorus whos the crowd that peers the the cage as we preform he upon the stage I believe means who is watching us out there as us on earth live our lives is it god, is it aliens who is it I think they have confirmed that as the meaning. loved the reaction 👍🏻
Been listening to this song since it came out and you guys are bringing out some wonderful points which I never thought of exploring. Thanks! Easily Subbed! I especially love the reaction to the guitar solo during the down bridge when it modulates up and the drums come in (one of my favourite solos by the way); Sori was really soaking it in. Lovely video! I'm so excited to see more!
"The birth of sin, to snake rattle the mind" ... fall of man into duality(knowledge of good and evil, worship of the rational mind)? ... "before a blow to the head to wake up(ego death?)."
It is words that has no special place in religion, it is not about anything you mention. It is much more natural and human facts that is discussed there. I am sad to say that control is one of the things that this song speaks against. Along with deeper things you just repeated like in the video, you belong in the crowd laughing at the "sins" (not in a religious way, a human way)
People live here by ride against. Powerful imagery in the lyrics, not a sad song, but a powerful one. And you guys kill it at dissecting a7x lyrics. I've heard every single song by them a thousand times and you pick up things I never noticed your first time hearing it
I love the line “leave it to man to levitate his own to idolize”... mankind has a knack for believing the world revolves around us. We literally thought the sun and stars revolved around the world and we actually created a deity in our image to worship. Look at the back patting from Christians (all sects) Hindus, Muslims, Mormons, even Scientologists who all believe they have it all figured out, and they’re special above everyone else. It’s terrifying to hear opposing views that challenge the confirmation bias of belief because it brings cognitive dissonance. That’s a natural neurological response. The spell of religion fell away for me as I learned more about critical thinking and studied books that challenged my core beliefs. I recommend “The Demon Haunted World” by Carl Sagan and “How Jesus Became God” by world renowned biblical scholar Bart Ehrman. It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever been through, not only are you reshaping your mental state to align with reality, but your leaving (or being forced out of (family relationships, friendships, and a community of believers). That goes against all the evolutionary tools we have! But damnit if believers aren’t raised to stand for truth (no matter where it leads). I see my own faith crisis in these lyrics: “Tell me a lie, in a beautiful way, I believe in answers, just not today.” “I found my heart for the first time and I awakened in me. I left myself to navigate, and oh I felt control.” It’s fascinating how we all interpret musical lyrics to fit our personal bias (Which is why we should never trust our personal bias). 😂
I hear everything you’re saying.. of course when we say we’ve found the truth by reading a book written by two authors, it’s very difficult not to wonder if you haven’t been biased by their biases. I’m familiar with Sagan but I’m VERY familiar with Ehrman, he speaks from a state of presupposition that is truly fascinating, then again all of us do, otherwise we wouldn’t know how to interpret the world Bc we’d always be at neutral and from my perspective, that’s impossible. As far as belief leading to arrogance that elevates then above others, I’ve seen that, for sure. I’ve also seen non believers do the same thing in reverse to people of faith. I’m sure you’ve seen that. I’d love to have you on our “ (Re) Deconversion” podcast if you’re willing ! 🤘🏾-Vin
VinAnd Sori - well I’ve read a lot of books from both Christians and non-Christians. The critical thinking is key in understanding motivated reasoning and logical fallacies that many authors on both sides commit. But I find the ultimate presuppositions lie firmly in the belief camp. Doesn’t it ultimately come down to faith? Which of course is a presupposition in itself. I wouldn’t disregard Ehrman so easily, though. I’m not familiar with your re(de conversion) podcast but I’m guessing it’s purpose is to reclaim lost souls for Christ?
Not at all. It’s just people talking about their journeys out of/into faith it’s a show we’ll run once a month on the podcast ... a lot of the subject matter in music deals with this .. you could be the first guess. Everyone operates on faith, otherwise we’d never get married, or fly on a plane or get in a car to go to work... but we can talk about that on the podcast
Hi Vin and Sori! Love your videos! I've already learned a lot from your analysis. So thank you. I would suggest: Staind - Reality or Rise Against - Elective Amnesia. I've already subbed!
When you analysed SIC from slipknot, I've never actually thought that way. Because to me Slipknot was always a band that I listened too, to relax. The only lyrics that I analysed from them, was "Danger - Keep Away", "Snuff" & "Till we Die" When it comes to this song, since I've watched the video first, got a more broader view of the subject that they were talking about. Never in such a personal viewpoint. Because on the video, they showcase the evolution oh humanity.
This is just an overall great album, but this song and exist are truly magical. I never recommend the official video, but with this song, I definitely recommend it as it makes the song make a little more sense. But you guys did a great job of breaking down the lyrics.
I love watching your reactions, so thank you. If you liked this song you really need to watch and react to the official video. I think it is one of the deepest music videos ever created. It honest;y don't do justice to this song to listen to this song with the lyrics without the video.
I just watched your reactions from the songs dedicated to the rev. There is another one from their album "Hail to the king" called St.James. React to that one please
The guys in Avenged aren't religious at all, but they take stuff from The Bible all the time. Even their name is from The Bible. They have a ton of Biblical references throughout their discography. EDIT: And if you guys want to get a really good understanding of the song I'd recommend watching the music video. This song is very political.
The Stage is referring to the show that our world performs. We, the audience, are entertained by acts of violence throughout history, all the way up to now. And all these acts of violence have been ran by our world leaders from the sidelines. The performances of the stage are written by them. And as mentioned in the song, we pear through cage, meaning that we are never truly free. And it is all fun and games until we are placed on the stage, we become the puppets. At the end, our world leaders are controlling the puppets, which represents us, the people. They can do what they wish with us, such as sending us to war and decide our fates in many ways.
The lead singer M. Shadows writes the lyrics for this song. Avenged sevenfold is the type of band that throws alot of stuff at you to make you really think a little bit harder about what they are saying, but what it all means is just left for the listener to decide.
There’s so many hidden details and meanings to EVERY song in the album. It’s amazing. I feel each song talks about what’s wrong with our society. For example: The Stage: The controlling powers of those higher than us. (Hence the politicians) We may seem free, but in reality, we are always being controlled. This could ALSO apply to advertisers. “Who is the crowd that peers through the cage, as we perform here upon the stage”, which could mean the advertisers which watch us and find entertainment in us being controlled, and buying their products as well (maybe a stretch). What you guys have said also made sense, I’ve never heard that before. God damn: What’s wrong with our country. “Pledge of Allegiance, no flag. God nation, goddamned” (I’ll let you figure that one out ;) ) Exist: Kinda sums it up. The whole song is basically a auditory representation of the Big Bang, and everything that comes after it. 7 minutes in is the start of the human race. It then soon goes into a speech by Neil deGrasse Tyson (written and read FOR the song), which basically sums up the whole album. I won’t explain any more by spoiling sand will let you listen to them :) Amazing reaction btw
The crowd peering through the cage as they perform on the stage definitely doesn't mean their fans looking at them as they perform, they love their fans more than anything! The stage definitely means the world as a whole.
This song, and the album in general, is made to challenge your ideas about the world and when they ask whos peering through the cage its referring to who’s controlling us behind the curtains and whos controlling them
I would love to see you react to mudvayne- death blooms, and sevendust- angels son. Mudvayne is very heavy, but they are great musicians and writers. The song angels son is softer, yet it has a deeper meaning and I would love to see your interpretation and breakdown of the lyrics. Great job!
The music video explains what they are saying in this song pretty well its more about trying to keep control of your life from the rich and the media that our lives are a performance the higher ups
Watch the video of this particular song . Such a good story told there.
They really should the story of it and the end is just an eye opener.
dEBA Maisnam the consensus with the avenged fans and the whole rock community on this album is super positive. With some saying it’s their best album
the video tells a much different story... so yeah please make another one where you watch the official video thing for this song.
Wont you please wake up!
This album should’ve gotten much more recognition.
I agree. Many people really disliked it for being different. But it has sooo many hidden details and meanings that are really meaningful. I honestly didn’t click with this album at first, but then I grew to like it.
it was nominated for a grammy
People love this album lol
Grammys don't count. I love this album because its different and makes you think.
I love this song and the album. I think that these people are thinking to shallow to acknowledge the depth of this song. They are trying to reform it to fit into their religious standards.
Sori I love when you close your eyes and really listen to the instruments I can tell you can feel the music
Yes I do!!!! I love the experience...in a strange way...it’s like a drug as I slip into the sounds! -Sori✌🏻
VinAnd Sori yes exactly that's why I love music so much.
Synyster Gates has so much feel on his playing.
Can’t wait for you to listen to Exist then. Soo much feeling in that song. Especially the closing monologue from NDT
Alex Mendoza t
I love how Sori reacts to the solos. Like closing her eyes and taking it all in
Ya I love “feeling it” almost like I’m diving in or the waves are swelling over me -Sori✌🏻
VinAnd Sori
You should checkout Steve Vai's For the love of god. It's an instrumental and one of the best songs ever made.
Beautiful
Synyster Gates by this album has become too powerful. And I say that as a guitarist myself, haha.
Ya dude is crazy
Xero Delacroix absolutely have you checked out his online guitar school?
Especially the solo for Creating God. How he mimicks the melody, oh my god it's beautiful
This solo from this song is one of the best, in my top 5 all genres list. So emotional, so melodic, so much feel....something I feel many miss now in the era of shred
Anyone that says he's overrated is crazy. This album is some of his best work.

The music video has a much deeper meaning in my opinion. I especially like how they did it with marianettes

There are stupid amounts of biblical references in Avenged Sevenfold music. One of their first albums was called Sounding the Seventh Trumpet.
@@jeremybosworth2275 one of my favorites "the wicked end" has a lot of references

But damnit if believers aren’t raised to stand for truth (no
matter where it leads).
I see my own faith crisis in these lyrics: “Tell me a lie, in a beautiful way, I believe in answers, just not today.” “I found my heart for the first time and I awakened in me.
I left myself to navigate, and oh I felt control.”
It’s fascinating how we all interpret musical lyrics to fit our personal bias (Which is why we should never trust our personal bias).
The long beautiful guitar solo feels like there still singing to you
Hi Vin and Sori! Love your videos!
I've already learned a lot from your analysis. So thank you.
I would suggest: Staind - Reality or
Rise Against - Elective Amnesia.
I've already subbed!
Thank you !!! Tell us what you’ve learned !!
When you analysed SIC from slipknot, I've never actually thought that way. Because to me Slipknot was always a band that I listened too, to relax. The only lyrics that I analysed from them, was "Danger - Keep Away", "Snuff" & "Till we Die"
When it comes to this song, since I've watched the video first, got a more broader view of the subject that they were talking about. Never in such a personal viewpoint. Because on the video, they showcase the evolution oh humanity.
Thanks !!
You guys are great! Love the A7x Reactions! I hope you give A Little Piece Of Heaven or Higher a listen!
Yes those are coming VERY SOON
VinAnd Sori wohooo!!!
As an athiest, your channel is an amazing insight, and I appreciate and enjoy your in depth explanations. I love it, keep up the great work
This is just an overall great album, but this song and exist are truly magical.
It honest;y don't do justice to this song to listen to this song with the lyrics without the video.
love ur guy's reaction
I love you guys!
Love your reactions
Sounds good! 🤟🏻Sori
You should really watch the official video for this song (if you didnt), it's really amazing :D
Didn’t know there was one
you guys should watch the official clip, that will answer a lot of your questions and brings more sense to the song.
Ya that’s what we’ve been hearing
Great reaction/analysis! I hope to see you react to Danger Line or Exist, also by Avenged Sevenfold!
Love your guy's content
Thanks!! We plan to keep it coming!! -Sori✌🏻
dismal euphony - an autumn leaf in the circles of time
Man some song titles are so beautifully artistic sounding -Sori🤘🏻
M. Shadows knew what he was writing with sin-snake rattle and blow to the head. The Rev was a lyrical genius, but so is M. Shadows.
Whoa!!! Well put! -Sori✌🏻
The lead singer M. Shadows writes the lyrics for this song. Avenged sevenfold is the type of band that throws alot of stuff at you to make you really think a little bit harder about what they are saying, but what it all means is just left for the listener to decide.
The stage album came out 2016 actually, the rev passed away in 2010 before the release of the nightmare album.
Porcupine tree - The sound of muzak
It's a song about basically how the music industry has changed and all.
You guys need to react to Agalloch, maybe to the song called "In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion", I want to see what you think about that : )
Sounds interesting... the “pale” thing I’ve heard before 🧐
This is why I love music :)
About The Stage.. i suggest u must see the official video (the stage) .. maybe it usefull to understand that song
There’s so many hidden details and meanings to EVERY song in the album. It’s amazing. I feel each song talks about what’s wrong with our society.
For example:
The Stage: The controlling powers of those higher than us.
God nation, goddamned” (I’ll let you figure that one out ;) )
Exist: Kinda sums it up. The whole song is basically a auditory representation of the Big Bang, and everything that comes after it. 7 minutes in is the start of the human race. It then soon goes into a speech by Neil deGrasse Tyson (written and read FOR the song), which basically sums up the whole album.
I won’t explain any more by spoiling sand will let you listen to them :)
Amazing reaction btw
Great video! :)
Thank you !
Listen to their concert live in the LBC all songs in it sound really good maybe for 1 combined video do the normal version then live in the LBC
"Who is the crowd who peers through the cage?" I feel like he's talking about aliens or that we're all in a simulation.
The crowd peering through the cage as they perform on the stage definitely doesn't mean their fans looking at them as they perform, they love their fans more than anything!
The stage definitely means the world as a whole.
Steven Wilson - the watchmaker
Porcupine tree - time flies
(Prog rock) 🙂
I would love to see them react to the video of this song.
Got to watch the video to watch the story. It really makes you see how the world is.
Thanks for this
This song, and the album in general, is made to challenge your ideas about the world and when they ask whos peering through the cage its referring to who’s controlling us behind the curtains and whos controlling them
I would love to see you react to mudvayne- death blooms, and sevendust- angels son. Mudvayne is very heavy, but they are great musicians and writers. The song angels son is softer, yet it has a deeper meaning and I would love to see your interpretation and breakdown of the lyrics. Great job!
syn and brooks are fucking monsters on this album.
The music video explains what they are saying in this song pretty well its more about trying to keep control of your life from the rich and the media that our lives are a performance the higher ups
Interesting! -Sori✌🏻
