When my dad was serving in Iraq A7X did a show for the troops and made it their goal at the end to meet every single soldier and thank them for their service. My dad brought me home a signed picture from all the members, it was pretty cool.

I think you misunderstood a lot of these lyrics. When he talks about the foundation of the country hes referring to middle class blue collar middle of the country. Then you have people living in the hills that just talk shit and look down on the people who make it thrive. Not the literal beginning. And the part about elections. It's not about other countries. It's in the same sentence addresses how people just bitch about the other side when they dont contribute anything to solve the issue.

I know why they left my favorite bit out of this song, being it was preformed in LBC, however this is not the best version of this song. I love the original me being a veteran and understanding what the original was pointing fingers at our politicians at that time, trying to save Government funds, they had brought up ideas of not allowing the government to be responsible for military funerals, college tuition, and many other things. Luckily Americans refused that line of bullshit, and try as the left may, they didn't get there way. They left the funeral part alone, and when I was in they were successful for about a physical quarter in interruption college tuition. Luckily most of the Marines it was affecting at that time were either grandfathered in, or was able to clear it up after those 3 months.

I was going to be mad for chosing a live version instead of the album...but then I recalled AX7 play their songs at finest, just like in pre-recorded versions.

I don’t read these lyrics as a criticism of people who criticize the military/American soldier, I read these lyrics as a criticism of the ruling class in the US
Think of it this way, “So how does it feel to know that someone's kid
In the heart of America has blood on their hands
    Fighting to defend your rights
So you can maintain a lifestyle
That insults his family's existence.” This part is explaining how the soldiers go out and fight the wars that aren’t benefiting him and his family, it’s only benefiting the ruling/upper class. The average American soldier isn’t some rich persons kid, they are someone from some poor/middle class family (usually anyway), but when they get back from fighting these wars, their family is in ruin due to the rich hoarding more
The part that says, “All the way from the east to the west we
    Got this high society
Looking down on their very foundation
Constantly reminding us that our actions
Are the cause of all their problems
    Pointing their fingers in every
    Direction and blaming their
Own nation for who wins the elections
They've never contributed a fucking thing to the
Country they love to criticize” the high society they’re referring to are the ones at the top, the ones in control, and they look down upon the working people who are the foundation of this country. They tell us that all of the problems are our own, not problems they have created. It’s how they stay in power. They blame everyone for who wins the election besides the ones who got them elected in the first place (whoever buys the elections). And at the end of the day, they never have contributed much to America because they are either hoarding wealth, or are power hungry and have always worked in government and haven’t experienced the plight of the working man.
Anyway, that’s just my take on the song

“I’m certain I love your country more than you do.” WTF?!?!
When I grow up I want to be as smart as Vin.

....I get the sentiment but it’s like telling someone that you love God more than they do, it’s rather unquantifiable.

If you measure love in actions taken and prices paid... you can quantify it objectively

    • @hooknmouth5764

      VinAnd Sori
Only if two people are willing to pay the same price can it be determined “who loves something more”. People say they would die for their country all the time and many have but how many of all who say it really would? Now how many do you think really mean it at the time they say it and still felt that kind of love without having to make the sacrifice of following through with the conviction.
Like when God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac to show his love and obedience, would you pay that same price he was willing to pay? If not would that mean that he loved God more than you?
