You’re right about some stuff, but you can’t deny apples build quality is second to none. I never used to buy apple and nothing would last me more than a couple years. I got my MacBook Pro retina in 2012 and has worked like a charm ever since. I got my first iPhone years ago (se) it got slammed in the tail Gate of a truck and bent nearly in half, but still works perfectly to this day. Now I’m on an 11pro and again the build quality seems outstanding.
Hey Rob, I also agree with you on many of the issues here. However, I feel I should also share a prospective people often overlook too. I have a visual impairment, and am considered legally blind. Because of this, it makes choosing platforms harder because of usability. Apple has been the best for accessibility, and that's why I've been using their stuff since the 80's I didn't start playing around with Linux until about 2013 when talking about installing it for myself locally because it never had good options for accessibility that I was aware of until the last several years. Plus there are things I use such as Uber for transportation that give me a much better experience over public transportation when it comes to independence, and flexibility of getting a ride. So, while i agree with, appreciate, and understand the viewpoints over privacy. I feel like people in my case, and similar circumstances already give up some privacy to be as independent as possible, be it by having to trust other people, or using technology that can also be of help. I have watched a few of you videos now and enjoy your content. Have a great day!
You made a great point about the iphone 📱!!! Also, you can’t upgrade certain things in laptops 💻. Anything below 2012 is possible to upgrade , such as the battery , ram and HD storage . Now anything above 2012 with retina is a pain to upgrade. Anything with retina comes with the battery glued to the frame, it can be remove but is a risk, but memory ram and HD storage definitely you can’t. They come solder to the frame and they can’t be replaced. Also, 2012 down you can’t update it with the latest OS. Well, they push you to purchase their latest products. thanks for your great content 👍🏼
So happy with my decision to never buy an Apple product years back! I see I made the correct decision every day now as they get greedier and more draconian with their dealings with their consumers!
Thank you so much for this video. I have been convinced for quite a long time now, that all the mobile phone brands send out so called security updates to older mobile phones just to get them to start working more poorly, so that eventually you would have no other option left than to go and get a new phone. And Huawei mobile phones also don't work unless you create a Huawei ID. so this is not only the case with IPhones..... You should definitely read everything they want you to agree to when creating a Huawei ID. Most people don't even bother and agree.....
Whenever I see someone on a plane with an iphone, I always think I'm looking at an idiot. Or when in a business meeting and I see them pull out an iphone, I think "ahh... this one is a sucker we can easily overcharge"
Don't be ridiculous. Although I agree that buying an Apple product is a stupid idea, most people just don't know any better. Videos like these are great because they spread the word about it. I hope this video reaches Apple customers though, as TH-cam likely keeps recommending these to people who already agree with the message behind this video.
@Gnome It's the same in NY. My college campus was split between the Apple users vs. the "Other Tech" (Windows, Android, Linux, etc.) users. We got along fine but it was a pain when working on files in group projects if we didn't share the same product line.
Android users aren't any smarter. Especially those who buy Chinese brands. Most people doesn't really think much. They don't even understand that android are different os from ios.
AHH I currently have an iPhone 10 and I totally agree with you. Sadly the charging port is a bit buggered so I feel reluctant to get it fixed to sell, so I've just been using it. I've never put much thought how it knows where my car is, or how long it takes to reach my house. It always lets me know as I'm approaching my car too lol. It always drops out on WiFi nearly every iOS update it seems to get worse, sometimes the screen won't work properly when it's on lower battery life. Overall it's just been a pretty bad phone really. I can never appreciate the glass back as it's always in a thick case as I know I ain't paying to replace it and I can't afford another device 🤠
I've only own(ed) two iPhones - a 3GS and the original SE. 3GS still serves as my alarm clock. It has been disconnected from any networks/mobile, and the battery is original. Still going. The SE has been sitting on a shelve for couple years. Decided back then yep, no more Apple phones.
Most people are not even willing to discuss it (they claim the want to "heal"), I don't think those people see any wrong in what happened. For the ones who do see this blatant over reach and monopolistic practices for what it is. They are not all willing to take actions, but yes some are. I would say that most likely as a direct result of the Parler episode not more than a couple thousand people would have decided to stop buying Apple, but in the larger scheme of everything else that has happened may be more people will keep away from big tech. Sadly I see this now misguided discourse of people recommending Chinese products and services as an answer to big tech. Yes we need to get rid of big tech companies in our digital lives but not so that we can then let it be held at ransom by the Chinese. They are even more corrupt and deplorable when it comes to human rights. They are trampling democracy in HK so actively how can they be your friends in avoiding censorship? What a great rant! I could not agree more. I have never owned an Apple product and I never will, but I clicked on this anyway and I'm glad I did. Unfortunately I'm forced to use an iPhone and a iPad at work. They are the worst devices I've ever used. I cannot even change the default browser, are you kidding me? An iPhone is the equivalent of a house in a super strict HOA neighborhood. No freedom whatsoever
What took you so long Rob...lol
I was busy fiddling with FreeBSD
@@robbraxmantech About time 😎
It's a joke. I don't use FreeBsd. Only Unix back in the day and Linux today..
@ I already been telling him that for months lol
You are so right on the money privacy guy - we need to degooglize and get our privacy back - hope its not too late.
I am done with Apple since the 6s. Now I'm using S7 edge with lineageOS rom without GAPPS, next phone will be with a linux rom.
awesome
buy huawei.......no google appss there
Adi XiaoLim I don't want Huawei services and apps either...
@@suryadixl9410 That doesn't change anything in terms of privacy. Instead google spying on you, you get spied by huawei chinese apps. Also Huawei won't allow you to flash custom roms.
I hate ear buds!!! We're android folks . I just got a Samsung s21 and I'm getting a USB dongle.. I love your rant!!!
Hi Rob Braxman Tech,
Can you please sync your TH-cam channel with LBRY?
Great video!!! Really informative and I think likely to be really useful. Thanks Rob.
First iPhone was 3GS, locked into drawer, and waited for jailbreak. Best iPhones for me were used 4Ss, 5S, and SEs. All used or damaged. Opened up and repaired. But FOSS is the only, so bye bye Apple.
We can't even use these old phones. Even my oldest Raspberry PI is still usable
@@robbraxmantech Were you genuinely pissed off or just a little hype? Didn't think you'd be an Apple man. Like the simplicity of iOS, but always that nagging feeling ur being screwed. Android = freedom.
I admit I have bought into the hype with privacy and security. I feel off using Android yet I’m still mad angry at Apple tactics. Anyone jumped from iOS to android and been happy here?
🙌🏼 my days with Apple are ending in the next month or so and I feel relieved and am looking forward to it!!
Black Berry is coming out with new phones. Motley Fool says Black Berry is a good investment today (Jan2021). Will the new Black Berry's be looked at for DeGoogling?
My new favorite TH-cam guy!
Apple banned Parler, we the people should ban the rotten Apple and Tim Crook!
Great video Rob. Thanks.
What should I buy then? I don’t need apple anything I’ll trade it in today if I know what to get
I agree! It’s a Spy Device alright! It tracks where I go.
@Gnome Looks like just another social convention to me - I find it totally ridiculous...
Gnome are you from Ukraine!? 😂
Honest and facts. very good and bold message. keep it up.
I wonder how many repeat and potentially new customers Apple has lost after their
Role in the Parler Censorship?
Avoid Chinese and big tech, go for open source federated or self hosted options.

Welcome to the year 2010.
Actually that was a good iPhone year. All the way to iPhone 6 (2014).. But that's it.
@@robbraxmantech Denial 2020
@@robbraxmantech the iPhone 6 was a terrible design with lots of faults (touch and baseband) because of flexion in the logicboard, which even carried on to the iPhone 7 and 8.
Of course Apple never admitted it, and said "users are using it wrong" in just a different wording.
Until Apple officially admits fault, and stops scamming people by telling them Apple = Privacy, I will never buy anything from them.
I remember trying to t

I also like to know your opinion of the tablets that these companies make!? If I just use WhatsApp communicating with friends and calls, should not a tablet be a better choice as I can watch media better on a larger screen as well than a phone sized tool!? Love if you can get the Linux tablets and review them ! Best regards, from Sweden :)
absolutely not. You'll have to stick to Android for those. But in my next video, I will show you what I did to my Android
Rob Braxman Tech hi, what do you mean by absolutely not!? Do you mean that you will absolutely not review the linux tablets these companies made or that one can absolutely not use WhatsApp and Mobile Bank Id on the linux phones and tablets!?
Wow ... took you a long time to finally get it ....
Good choice come out from the walled garden and be free to see what there is available so many people including my son and daughter and wife live inside the walled garden and cant look over to see the world I just use android and even that is bad but love your videos with all the information thanks
I’m tired of the updates screwing up the phones. Going back to android.
I like using audio bks on Utube. Would this defeat the purpose on the phone you are doing?
Also rob could you teach how to make apps
Heh dude, you are actually patient. My last iphone was iphone 6s. The moment they said no 3.5mm jack I showed them the middle finger. Android phones do just fine, could never been happier with them.
Except now Android wants to pull the same bullshit Apple does. There are no longer any good, pro-consumer alternatives.
Every tech company spies on you. Not just an apple. Android devices are also masters of it. This is the time in which we live and it is a given that there is no more privacy. In this day and age it is difficult to be completely anonymous. At the same time, the technology also offers a lot of convenience. If you do not want this, buy a mobile with which you can only call and text.
Apple shut down the usage of their servers to parler because of bulshit reasons. That's all I need to know.

Im just waiting for the Librem 5
@Mike Manfredi When is it gonna be fully done tho? aint it still being tested?
My problem with 7PLUS is that all my websites searches disappear after 30 days and do not stay so I have to retype a search back in to the phone. Is there a way that you can get all your search history back?
agree, but it would be nice to finish this video with a viable option ...
NEXT video! LOL. People complain how my videos are too long
I agree with all of your points except earbuds. My Raycon 25's go 10 hours before you have to need to charge. I use them on my phone, tablets and pc. The case charges them 4-5 times too.
Did such control from Apple start after Tim Cook had become the CEO?
He created new processes and procedures. He also started promoting more gay rights and gay inclusion. He is admittedly gay and has a male whatever. Life in Apple has changed and many have left. Steve Jobs was a tyrant at work and at home. What a switch.
You can actually swap the touch ID sensor from screen to screen.
I did it for a friend recently, but it's indeed not water resistent anymore
Take a look at Louis Rossmann channel and you'll see what Apple really is!
So what is the solution ? What are the other options ?
It has been a while since I have heard anyone speak the truth.
Keep scrolling cupcake, he’s just a triggered Trump supporter, LOL
I hope your were not referring to me.
Rob, love your channel. I too have had every iPhone since the first model but I too feel they have abandoned their reasons why Apple became so successful. I actually managed to find an iPhone 4s and revived it. However, I’m seriously thinking my next phone won’t be an iPhone. I’m leaning towards the Huawei but wanted your opinion on moving to that phone. I actually like that they are developing their own OS and App Store. I deleted FB about 2 years ago & just deleted Instagram as well as Twitter. I’ve moved over to Signal in preparation for deleting WhatsApp. I’m trying to minimise my digital footprint. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Bingo! Congratulations!
I have never owned an iPhone but the iPads that I have had (about five years Now) have worked just fine. I think the idea buddy, is that you don’t break them.
