What do you think of Survivor: All-Stars? Where would you rank it? The Boston Rob story is currently only on Patreon due to TH-cam giving me issues whenever it comes to posting it. I truly don't know when it will be publicly released.
all stars is one of my favorite seasons! (although maybe its because im a boston rob fan) but this season was one of the most entertaining, and although the jury was bitter, everything else was so fun to watch and i loved the cast!
I have it ranked at 38 out of 40 in my season ranking. All-Stars is absolute trash for basically all the reasons you stated. Boring and predictable all the way through due to the demolition of the winners and domination of Chapera (seriously this post merge does not get enough shit, it's even worse than RI when it comes to pagongings), and to make it even worse a very dreary and unlikable tone plaguing the atmosphere and characters throughout most of it. Top it off with a very misguided edit that ends up with a very unsatisfying winner narratively and you have the absolute trainwreck that is All-Stars and without question the worst all returnee season to date. Terrible season.
All Stars was so interesting but for all the wrong reasons, it was kind of a disappointment but at the same time so fascinating with so many events that will never happen again.
All Stars is an incredible season! I would say easily in the top ten best seasons of Survivor! Great cast! We see how Boston Rob becomes a legend by dominating the entire season! You see the reason why couples never last and are always targeted on the show because Boston Rob and Amber used it so brilliantly! Good and moving love story and an evolution of the game itself! Good video.
i personally really enjoyed this season largely because of how happy chapera was at most times. it got annoying hearing everyone complain how miserable they were all the time (granted that’s what makes survivor so tough lol) but seeing how much fun chapera was having with their shelter and singing and dancing was a fun thing to see in such a strenuous environment. i also really liked how intense it seemed at times which i think is largely due to how personal people got. i enjoyed the challenges and it had a lot of entertainment value. this was the first season however it was so personal which made it hard to watch sometimes. like it’s a game. understandable though because they previously knew each other and how each other played. i think the thing about this season is that you have to appreciate the first 7 seasons to appreciate this one. like now, nobody besides rob and maybe colby would be considered “all stars”, but then, it made somewhat sense. people also undervalue amber and i think her edit sold her short. like you said in a previous video, rob only made good decisions when she was around making you think that she was just using him to initiate all the moves she really wanted to make. the whole love thing overshadowed her part but i gotta love the love story shamelessly lol
Yessss, can’t wait for Vanuatu! Have been binging through Survivor for the first time throughout quarantine and recently saw Vanuatu and I *loved* it, idk why it’s not that popular. Can’t wait to hear your take on it.
I rank All-Stars quite highly. Of the first eight seasons, it probably only sits behind Pearl Islands and Africa for me. The boot order is bad, I get that but never again will we see such an iconic group assembled together. Hatch, Colby, Tina, Ethan, Lex, Jerri, Rob C, Kathy, Big Tom, Rudy. There were just so many big names. People talk about a Legends season but I think that this comes pretty darn close (as well as HvV and Winners at War obviously). I understand why people knock down All-Stars but nothing beats a star-studded cast, no matter how ugly the gameplay and boot order can be.
completely agree!! I genuinely don't understand the hate this season gets, I found it to be an absolute blast. Might be because I'm a giant Boston Rob fan, but I just loved it.
Great to see so many good players back. As you say it almost seemed like the Boston Rob and The All Stars season. I agree about the Sue Hawk situation. I realize that production likes drama and I also don't know the back story completely and I had read or heard in another cast member interview that the situation may not have been quite like it seemed. I agree that like the Dan Spillo situation production could have worked to prevent it looking so ugly.
Some people hate All Stars, and I understand that, but I don't think it's quite as bad as that, especially in comparison to other seasons like Red Island, One World and Thailand. It's still not great though. The great thing is seeing most of these great icons of the early seasons play again.
All Stars is in my top 10 just because it still feels quite epic to me and goes beyond being a game, which I find fascinating. My only real issues with it were losing Cesternino so early and the delayed merge (and the quits to a lesser extend). For me its a tale of two seasons, the first half being pretty fun and full of character moments and the second half being very successful cutthroat love story. I guess your enjoyment depends on whether you like Romber or not and I love them here, not so much in WAW. But here they're fun and sneaky
Oh boy the all stars reviews lasted a while but they were good and we’re finally here! Vanuatu (I’ve been rewatching it to prepare for your stories and reviews of it) I think some characters that should get stories other than Chris include Ami, Twila, Eliza, Sarge, Rory and Julie. And possibly and analysis of the fall of the Girls Alliance. I think that’d make good for Vanuatu
This was the first season my Mom showed me on TV as it aired, when I was in kindergarten. Been a die hard ever since! It will always be one of my favorites, since it was my first.

This season suffered from the same fate as Game Changers. When you get 18 or 20 players together, there are tiers of all stars. Remember, coming into the season Rob was a lower tier all star by not having made a merge. It became clear that the true heavyweights (Ethan, Rob c, Colby, Richard, Tina) didn't have much of a shot. So u get a result like S34 where Sarah, Troy, and Brad, hardly game changers, make the final 3 while Tony, Sandra and JT are gone early
I always feel so conflicted about All Stars. I love seeing so many great characters come back, there are so many iconic moments. But I feel like sooo much of it goes so sideways (in a bad way) and it's oddly dark, when it never, in theory, should have. It always makes me wish I could see the alternate universe version of this season. 😂
Boston Rob really earned his All Star appearance since he wasn't very popular before this season. He developed the mafia bully system. This is the first season friendships became a huge factor in the game. I didn't like that Production didn't address the Sue/Hatch incident.
I love All Stars. Obviously it's not as good as Heroes vs Villains or the first Fans vs Favorites. But it had a fantastic cast. People are now demanding "Survivor Legends" but All Stars already is that. Post-merge - Rupert, Jenna L, Alicia and Big Tom were not very strategic admittedly. BUT they are extroverted interesting characters anyway and entertained me. Unlike the gamebot returnee seasons in the 30s which i like way less than this season. Also, one of the best final tribal councils ever. Perhaps only Vanuatu had a more dramatic one (which is next season - looking forward to your thoughts on that one). At the end of the day, Im looking for DRAMA from Survivor first and strategy second. This season is lacking the latter from four post-merge players (Rupert, Tom, JennaL, Alicia) - but this season delivers on drama. Which I dont think new school seasons do as well with gamebot casts (including returnee seasons with interesting characters edited as gamebots too). This season isnt top ten for me, but its definitely in my opinion better than most of the gamebot 30s which fans seem to glow about which I dont understand. For example, I think Cambodia is overrated - classic gamebot example. Thank goodness Abi and PG was there, they're the only ones who weren't gamebots
Tbf I think Jenna Lewis is pretty strategic. But it essentially becoming a pagonging did hurt the strategic talk in general. I have to say that I liked Rupert more in this than Pearl Islands

People talk about how Rob and Amber put huge targets on couples, but no one mentions how they aren’t unbreakable as we saw with Parvati betraying James in Micronesia
Looking back on it now, it doesn't hold up as good. But a more balanced edit I think could've done wonders for this season. Shi Ann was a questionable casting choice at first, but she proved she was worthy of a spot here as both a player and character. One of the old schoolers who could play a good new school game I feel. Shout out to Rudy. His spot may technically have been wasted as he had no realistic shot to win, but the fact he was even out there at 75 isn't as admired as it ought to be.
Oh man! That's really low for that calibre of a season but honestly when you explain it I completely understand how it gets such a low mark. I would probably give the characters and production a boost though
I'm sad AS is over. But im so excited to watch the story of Chris,Twila, screw it even Rory. Im only on S21 but I would count Palau and Vanuatu as old school given they are basically the same to 1-8. But I think Guatemala began the middle ages of Survivor with the immunity idol finally being a thing. Anyway thank you for all the hard work dude
I enjoyed it because of the raw emotion. In the modern era of Survivor, contestants fully expect to be lied to and blindsided. Watching the raw anger from the jury was the comeuppance we'd been waiting for all season. Amber deserved to win because she at least defended her game. Rob told so many lies that by the time it got to FTC, Rob had nowhere to hide. My problem with the narrative was figuring out how Lex, who played in S3, was so tight with Rob from S4. Maybe context could have been added that Survivor contestants are a fraternity and many comingle outside of the game setting.
I enjoyed the season but they could defiantly improve. Jenna was a poor choice because they knew the situation her mom was in they had to. They should have tried harder to get Sandra or asked Vecepia to return. With Sue, they should have used that as the opportunity to nip the issue in the butt. This was not the first time something controversial having to do with male and female interactions happened. They should have used that moment to put clear rules and boundaries in place about how people must act. If they had season 39 would never have been an issue. The strategic gameplay and backstabbing was when everyone knew that survivor was no longer an adventure and it was a game. People learned that they needed to be willing to play. People learned to take emotion out of the game. It defiantly effected the series moving forward. When was the last time you heard someone talk about coming to survivor for the experience since allstars? Overall I think the season was great, it was a good way to end an area of the show and kick off the next. The old guard battled it out one last time, the show closed that chapter and the next one began in season 9.
I know not many people love this season but I do. Yes the Hatch and Sue accident was not handled correctly but that one detail should not take down the whole season. Maybe it is just because I love rob and Amber and amber got a lot of hate for this season in which she explains in Winners at War. Anyone who wins did something to make them win. No one deserves hate for winning just because you do not like them or their season.
I think your ranking is a little low. I would definitely say that is is the 7th of the 8 old School seasons, but you have it ranked barely above Thailand. I think there is a clear difference on quality and characters between Thailand and All Stars
5.8 is harsh. You justified Amber winning, and how two of her strategies are bring used to date, but still gave her a low score... she should have at least a 6/10; and the season should be a nice 7/10.
I gotta say, I really can't stand this season. Honestly, this is very close to Thailand in terms of worst old school season and I honestly don't know which one is worse. The first 4 or 5 episodes are fun mostly but all of that is zapped so quickly. You could probably make a Top 10 of most uncomfortable moments that happen throughout the course of this season and unless you are a diehard Boston Rob stan, you will definitely not be getting anything good out of this season cause nearly everyone that participates in this season comes out worse because of it. It was a disaster on all fronts and clearly in the Bottom 2, if not the worst of the old school era.
Jenna Lewis shouldn’t have been on this season. She was so unlikeable. Christy from Amazon, Darrah from Pearl Islands, Neleh from Marquesas, and Kelly from Africa all would’ve been better alternatives than Jenna Lewis. If she wasn’t on this season, it would’ve been better.
Jeff picked favorites so much! He was all for Boston Rob and Ambuh. I couldn't stand to watch it. As a matter if fact I watched it with earplugs in. Jeff picks his faves all the time. This show is the worst!

You left out that Rupert gets America’s vote out of all 18 All Stars to win a million, now THAT was a satisfying winner.

this was the first season I ever watched. I watched it about a year or two ago on TH-cam. Then I watched Redemption Island and then winners at War

The score is for her story + gameplay. The edit did not do her much justice as a player and instead focused on her as Rob's love interest.
Shi Ann, Amber, Boston Rob, Jenna Lewis, and Tina I thought were strange picks for the season. The other 13 made sense.
At least Tina was a winner.

Then Total Drama would copy the "finale couple" thing and make it terrible.
More parodied it than copy, I try to see AS as a parody of Survivor: All-Stars or any all-star season in general.

Jeff picked favorites so much! He was all for Boston Rob and Ambuh. I couldn't stand to watch it. As a matter if fact I watched it with earplugs in. Jeff picks his faves all the time. This show is the worst!

@@OnceUponAnIsland my thing was broken lol what I meant to say was I know I’m alone here but I think All Stars represents Survivor well. Manipulation, deception and alliances with main characters that play hard and well.
