Jerri was never a villain and she has suffered from her edit a lot but as a character is a top10 character in Survivor history. To me she is the biggest women character in show history and she is underrated as a player
Yeah, she was only a villain through the eyes of certain players. But I actually like that in retrospect as it made her much more memorable to us. At the time, I imagine it sucked for her.
@@OnceUponAnIsland I completely agree. I thought she was a bit dumb when I first saw her in Heroes VS Villains (cause she didn't really do anything strategic) but then I realized that she just didn't want to seem like the "black widow" that she was labeled as. She wasn't a villain--just the popular contestants in Australia often labeled her as such, and then the edit simply honed in on that.
I really appreciate Jerri on this show. She may have been abrasive and rather blunt but that’s what makes her an icon. I bet if the editors showed more of her good/human side in all-stars, she might not have been booed at the reunion.
I loved Jerri and she was an incredible addition this season. Plus, I am glad to see that she was at Heroes vs. Villains (4th Place!)...Wish that she was brought back for Survivor: Game Changers.
In the original seasons the small group of survivor contestants were close with each other to some degree, they were all considered celebrities' and would go to charitable events and other things together so it survivor all-stars was really like a reunion of friends. Lex made the mistake of not separating friendships outside of the game from strategy inside the game. Jerry lost because of that and I don't hold her getting eliminated then against her because it was a stupid move from Lex and Kathy. I don't think she wins if she makes it to merge but I think she has a shot to get to the end she probably makes it to final 5 and who knows after that. When she got boo-ed at the reunion it really was a solidified that survivor was "all grown up" and now more about strategy then friendships which almost no one was prepared for going in.
Exactly right. If Lex is able to get Amber out right before the merge, he couldn’t because Kathy was a stubborn mule and wanted Jerri out, the entire post merge of All-Stars is different. Boston Rob gets nowhere close to the final tribal and I think Jerri, Lex, Rupert or Big Tom win the whole game.
@@OnceUponAnIsland I read a interview with Lex and he talked about the move to try and get Amber out. He campaigned to the other members of Chapera, besides Amber, to send Amber home and keep Jerri.. He couldn’t because Kathy wouldn’t budge because pre-game Rob said he would take her to the end. That was before Boston Rob fell in love with Amber rendering the deal null and void.
It's crazy how they edited it to make it seem like jerri and Colby are still at odds. If you see deleted scenes they have heart to heart convos and behave like friends
When Jerri got revenge on Colby, I thought that was a hero moment. He was awful to her in Outback, even throwing water on her at a challenge. The southern gentleman edit is a lie. Shii-Ann subsequently giving her own revenge vote after Jerri.. hm. Maybe the guy is a jerk Flash forward of even Amanda rolling her eyes at overrated Colby
If anything I don't think Jerri really meant to do any harm in Outback, if anything I saw her as more of an anti-villain. Pretty much it's someone who means well, but their acts end up harming others unintentionally. That kind of happened with Jerri, and as a result Colby did not trust her. If anything Jerri didn't really have any villainous intentions, she literally just wanted to form a basic alliance and have a bit of fun with it.
@@maxlolbits2182 her supposed "villain" plot line was that she wanted their rice rations to be cooked properly. Apparently that's unreasonable if the other contestant is a chef. But also apparently, Colby making much nastier comments about Keith on a personal level was supposedly good and wholesome. Fans back then were kind of weird
@@bc5163 Colby is and always was a self righteous asshole. Hated him then and still do today. And his piece of shit game on Heroes vs Villians was a joke.
Just watched the all stars reunion and the way the audience booed at her at any chance and cheered at her leaving in the break? she was and is an amazing player, sure i wasn't a fan of her in australia but she played the best game she could in all stars despite the circumstances. I really wish she could see the support this channel's audience has for her.
I remember watching The Australian Outback when I was 14 and thinking that Jerri was real and mistreated by the public...I also thought that Elisabeth was insincere and got too much public love. It's good to see that twenty years later, Jerri has had two more chances to prove herself and that public's opinion on her has changed...and Elisabeth has revealed her true colours time and time again on The View, and the public's opinion of her is in the gutter.
Jerri is one of my favourites despite her antagonizing with almost all her tribemates. her run in All Stars was always on the bottom until Lex saves her and keeps her around over larger targets Colby and Ethan. probably the most infamous moment that All Stars is known for is Lex gambling Jerri off for a deal with Rob to save Amber. it just never made sense as this is a huge risk and Jerri will stay loyal to Lex no matter what. we all knows what happens next. also notably her premenitions about Rupert was true as it shows in future. when she got booed at the reunion I felt really bad for her as this would break down almost anyone in her position. with Lex keeping Jerri a couple ways to see it with Amber out. didn't make a difference and followed actual path as Rob was aligned with everybody separately on Chapera. or makes a huge difference as Lex somehow pulls in his Africa ally Tom and majority switches.
The thing is, even if Lex listened to Jerri and voted out Amber, then Lex Jerri Kathy and Shi-Ann still go into the merge low in numbers. And I think Rob would still be in control of the group and would get Lex and Kathy at least voted out for going against him, being a threat, and also no one have been with them in the game so no ones really going to trust them bc they just met strategically. I’m sure Jerri and Shi-Ann could make it farther and not get pagoned but I’m not sure. Either Rob has total control or not. But Alicia Big Tom and Rupert were super loyal to him.
Big Tom would've switched over to Lex 100%. Especially considering their friendship in Africa was still there plus they didn't have to worry about the whole winner thing anymore
While the hate Jerri got was ridiculous, it always cracks me up to see the audience side with Rupert (who was clearly in the wrong) over Jerri. The edit even sides with Jerri, but she was so despised at the time and Rupert was so loved.
It's possible Lex still loses even with Jerri in the game over Amber, but it would've helped as it would've been 5 to 4, and maybe Big Tom flips, but Boston Rob probably would've twisted his arm to keep him loyal to Chapera.
I think Survivor is a lot about minimizing risks and Lex voting out Jerri over Amber was a massive risk that did not pay off at all. It wasn't guaranteed he wins by keeping Jerri, but it does assure him a much better position.
I think she either lied or had a case of mistaken identity with Kel and the Beef Jerky. David Bloomberg talked about this with Jessica Lewis in their Why Kel Lost video. I highly recommend everyone watching that!
I loved Jerri ever since I watched Australia when it first aired on tv. I never got the hatred for her. She's my original "favorite" contestant, and she's still in my top 5 favorite contestants of all time to this day.
