This, right here, is actually why the Eureka Effect is my main wrench. I like putting funny sentries in places as much as the next engie, but it doesn't matter what gmaemode it is, having a teleporter in a useful location has no replacement. Even on last points, when the teleporter loses some of it's power, I often put an exit with no entrance somewhere important (right next to my sentry, hidden by a sentry-peeking sightline, the like) to punish people who pester my buildings. Even then, a lot of teleporters still hold high worth on maps like that, it's just far more difficult to keep them where you want them.

Relevant tip for anyone who commonly finds themselves at spawn panicking to unsap a teleporter: Try to keep the homewrecker equipped on whatever your default pyro loadout is. Most times when an entrance is being sapped you aren't immediately on engineer and beside it; So you're going to run back to change class anyways and the difference between needing one or two swings by the time you get back can be what saves or destroys it.
