I've seen a lot of vids on playlists and recording, This one, and your vocal comping video are the best. Very thorough. Thank you!

If you hit shift + up/down arrow keys, while your track is selected you can cycle through playlist takes. If you have multiple tracks selected (i.e. multi-track drums) you can cycle each tracks playlist (i think) with shift + alt/opt + up/down arrow keys.

PCLogan yeah that is super helpful. When you are listening back to 30 takes and picking winners that makes it faster and more organized.

Hello you are by far the best teacher for any of the DAWs I've been watching, concise to the point , no needless self conscious waffle. I can't thank you enough for all your help and I hope these videos have been good for you and your career , so helpful and to the point.

i really appreciate all of your videos. They have gotten me through my MIDI and Sound Recording classes (with Logic and Pro Tools) whenever i'm just stuck. Thank you for all the time you make for these videos Josh. A million times....thank you.

This was so very helpful. I’ve watched my mentor do this many times. I wanted to learn it at home before I am asked to do it in the studio. Or have to ask how it’s done. This is getting me up to speed so I can assist in tracking more! Thanks! 🙏

Thanks for making this video! I hope it's not too difficult to comp multitrack drums this way! That's where "tough" starts to happen!
Thanks so much for making these available, you're the best.

At 3:08 he's right: on Windows the "Create New Playlist" shortcut is [Windows key] + \ instead of [Ctrl] + \.

Thanks for the vid brotha. I learned this trick at my school but couldn't exactly remember the process on how to do it so I need a refresher lol.. Although I was also taught a way to do a 'looping playlist recording' so that you could just loop record and it automatically puts each new recording into the playlist ?

Se você tem teclado pt-br, assim como eu, use o comando start (símbolo do windows) + ] (fica do lado esquerdo do enter) para criar uma playlist.
Quebrei a cabeça durante umas meia hora.
    :)
Just "converting" some shortcuts from US to PT - BR keyboards guys (yeah, sometimes it can be a mess) LOL

Thanks for the vid. Is there anyway of doing a record loop, so one does not need to stop after each take?

  • @CarltonMoxley
    @CarltonMoxley 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Put it in recordSo it can automatically create a new playlist at the end of each recording you can record 100 Time without touching a button

Hey Carlton, what is RecordSO? I was looking at doing a record loop, so one does not need to stop after each take? :)

I've got two questions. First, do you have to bounce to track your new composite before you delete your playlist takes? Or do the playlist takes not take up enough memory to even have that be a concern? Secondly, I've been "comping tracks the hard way" for a year, without a playlist. Yes, I've been creating completely separate tracks for each performance of guitar, vocal, bass, etc. So my sessions have way too many tracks I'm not using (I've so far just been hiding and making inactive). Do I need to bounce to track my now spliced together track before I can delete the original 4 tracks I had worked from? Thanks. Wish I'd known this playlist comp method a year ago when I started recording my songs at home.

Is there a chance creating new playlists for different audio tracks at once, for example when recording with more than one mic?

Hello how to switch between playlists on particular piece or phrase but still having the rest of the comped track staying at the place. Basically scrolling the phrase but staying on the main track. Hope my question is clear :)

Not sure, but using COMM/space bar is also a great way to start recording (MAC).
I’ve tried to make my own quick keys but with NO luck at all. 🤪
