  • We had the opportunity to spend a week daily driving the Opel Mokka-e, covering more than 500kms in order to formulate our thoughts on what it's really like to live with the Opel's largest EV.
Join us as we talk through some of the positives and negatives of daily driving the Mokka-e and take you on a drive to show off some of the driver focused features.
Our thanks to David from Bay of Plenty Honda & Opel for the opportunity to spend some time with this special vehicle. If you’re in the market for a new Opel, David can be found here tmccars.co.nz/bay-of-plenty-h...

The small size was chosen to keep the Weight... down... to get the longest... possible range of the electric car - that's actually what it's all about.
Moreover, it has side-mounted airbags in the back seat, which is unusual in the price range.

I am looking to get this one as my first EV car. Just wondering how many electric chargers are there in the UK, for the time when we go on road trips? How is the regenerative break on a motor way?

It's a pretty carand very different than GM Opel. I'd buy it as an ICE but am not sure if this is my EV pic. Soon, GM Ultium based EVs will be around--a few in China are great--plus Nio, BYD, and Tesla offer more space. Still, a neat car & I like Opel

Don’t currently have to plan in petrol stations, but that might change as we inevitably move towards EV’s

I guess there will be a move towards easier access to charging as this concept develops.

I think the bonnet is designed with the Opal Manta in mind, retro. Never heard the compass thing till now?

Interesting! This is what the Opal dealer told us.

@@OmniGarage It's something Opel's Design Chief Mark Adams has talked about repeatedly since 2018 when it first appeared on the new models, but the fact is that the line on the bonnet was introduced by Opel back in 1956, then it was further developed in the 1960s with a horizontal line in the front.
ON the Mokka, the rear lights are the horizontal line, the emblem is always in the center.

In 1999, it is further developed with a vertical line through the entire rear of the car, which is then introduced on a series of concept cars and regular ones such as Speedster, Astra, Tigra, Insignia.
And in recent years it has evolved even more with a vertical brake light in 2018, GT X, and in Astra and a red vertical line in the rear bumper on the concept car GT X, both of these details have since been copied by BMW and Toyota.

Mine when coming to say a stop sign, with foot off the accelerator it still moves forward a bit, yours runs backwards,I wish it just stood still

For those who have only driven a car with a manual transmission, there is no such problem as you are used to always putting your foot on the brake when you stop, but not many people drive manually anymore...

Very small best for a couple with no kids, I don't even have the back seats up. I use the space for stuff. Have never had to carry another person in the rear so no bother. I knew this at the outset that it would be mainly just me driving. I am 6ft3" and 140kg the door is difficult to get into, definitely not designed for the average big guy

    • @dragoclarke9497

140kg! That's not "average big guy" that is clinically obese, bordering on morbidly obese (which begins at a BMI of 40, your BMI being 38.5) Access to most vehicle is likely to be "difficult".

Opel has better Styling and Design than Tesla on the outside and inside, that goes a long... way, as it is something you are forced to see and live with all... the time.

Range is WAY overrated! I get approx 2 miles per percent mark on the battery. (Around town)
