Ok, why do Czech people want Škodas? This is the answer. 1.9TDI 66kW ALH. The car is massive. You can sleep in it no problem, even in the liftback version. It is comfortable even after 20 years. You can drive for 4.5l / 100km. Lowetst I´ve seen was 3.8l. Maintnance is basic, + as long as the engine is running you can still fix it no problem. If turbo dies, the car still can drive with 47kW of power - making it 1.9 SDI.
Even after 20 years the car outperforms new diesel engines, that is massive.

The 1.9 tdi engine has nothing to do with czechs i am afraid, but yes this engine is legendary in every model from Seat Ibiza to VW passat or Skodas. The 81 kw version is equally durable.

Nothing to do with czechs, car is made in czech republic trough
Engine is from vw (i guess Györ hungary built)
Buut. A Lot of people prefer this car because is such a low maintenance And very reliable choice.. Slovakia people use it too, including Our family, two 1.9tdi powered cars
      1.9asv ahf 110hp(euro2) , 1.9tdi asv(euro3)
ASV runs louder.. But has better turbo (pulls from 1400rpm to 4400rpm)

6 liters of fuel consumption at this speed is the norm, these old TDIs on a rotary pump have such a thing, I had one myself and on the highway, when I was 140 kilometers an hour, it also showed 5.6 to 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers. These engines are armored and as long as you care about legally changing the oil and what it should be, they will easily do it even after 1 million kilometers. The 110 horse versions, despite the fact that they also had a rotary pump, already had a dual mass wheel which quickly wore down if you misused the clutch.

wow, over 400k on gearbox and it still goes without any force on next gear.
Interior also looks amazingly good, mine Skoda (the same, just hatchback, not kombi) had weared driver seat for like 10 years by now (the same material and design, as here).
Car is really simple to use/repair, amount of spare parts are amazing (some interior plastics are missing, but you can always get it from A4/Bora/Leon etc), repair costs are quite low. If the car is well protected from salt and water, it still looks great, even in touching points on all it's time. If it is not, then you still have years before main body starts to rust (unless it's drowned car already). Without special problem you can dissassembly doors, front, lights, almost entire interior, down under is also easy accesible and simple.
Also - on this block you could easily get 130 hp simply by switching fuel injectors. Engine block had a huge potential to giving more power, than it does. Fuel pump get weary (engine takes longer to crunk and start), but when it's running, it is really hard to broke it.
Got almost the same version from my grandpa, manfucatured in 2000, I've got less electrical stuff inside (no radio, manual windows). Even hatchback offers so much space, that I could easily drive two big bicycles in the back. Or whole wardrobe 90x200 (in parts). 5 people inside? No big deal. 4 people (including infant), 2 big luggage carriers, 3 cab-sized, big offroad baby toddler, backpacks and stuff? Sure, why not?
The only thing I regret is that I've got hatchback, not kombi, and that mine car is in cheap version (no a/c, no electric windows, broken electrical mirrors for now, generally car being used without going deep into what can broke soon). Besides that - fantastic car. Fuel consumption is superb, engine is ok (had potential to have much more power, so I'll go for it), there are good options to improve it (leather seats, electric windows etc), doesn't look special, so no one will try to steal it, had huge amount of space. Absoutelly love. I would not sell that car, no matter what. I could only buy newer volvo combi with petrol engine for more safety, but I believe that I'll end in Octavia anyway.

Depends on the engine. The PD140 is much more reliable, however the only thing to look out for is the porous heads, which are cheap to fix - pre 2009 also only came with a catalytic converter. The CR140 has numerous problems - most are due to the advanced ELECTRICAL emission control systems I.e EGR, DPF. However the CR is more refined engine.

I want to buy Seat Leon 1,9 TDI 66 kW or 81 kW.
But my brother is saying, it is not good.
Because these cars have like 250 up to 330k km.
And also I make 40 km per day. Brother saying it is not enough to fill up my battery after start.
Also he said, it will have higher oil consumption...
