Bernard Finucane Yes, and it has been for some time now. Indie artists now days have the ability to make their own music at home for not much money, and self-release everything. In fact, many pro mixers, producers, etc. are even shifting to home studios because of this. The old model of paying tens of thousands of dollars for studio time is basically on the verge of obsolete, so studio owners have to be creative and have more to offer now if they’re gonna her work. My band HUE(s) produces and records all of our stuff in a garage home studio. Dumped a bit of money into sound treatment, good monitors, good preamps, etc... We’re totally self-sufficient. The only thing record labels and studios have now that indie artists don’t, is contacts. But that’s changing too.
It’s insane how so much of what I’ve seen of Billie Eilish on social media is people making her out like this obsessively edgy girl, and then I watch videos like this and she’s just a cool regular person-who laughs and jokes a bunch nonetheless.
C.W. She’s obviously doing something right in the music industry!!
@@rachaelburt1737 It's less about "industry" than it is about talent. These two are something that very few artists are: both respected professionally and successful commercially. What many people don't understand about certain individuals at the top of any creative profession is that they are fans too. They love their field -- which means admiring others who have ideas or ways of doing things that are different and interesting. Other artists don't make them feel jealous or competitive, they inspire them: to try new things, experiment with different techniques -- this is how artists grow and flourish. And it's not just musicians. You see professional chefs do the same thing. "Omg, did you add just a hint of nutmeg to that? That's great! What if you tried it with a little bit of cardamom instead?" "Oh, yeah! And then put some cream in the..". blah blah blah. You get the idea.

I've been a working drummer for 40 years, and i'm massively impressed by these 2.
have you heard stuff other than bad guy? cause if you think her style is "pop" you should give it a try, it's very soft relaxing music most of it...I often listen to it when running long distances because it keeps me very calm. Not saying people gotta like it, but I definitely assumed her music was very different to what it is before i listened to a full album...the hits don't really represent her style that well

You want to look at Maggie and Patrick for Billie's defenders. Earlier on Maggie wrote a movie and got it financed by crowd sourcing to highlight Finneas, the Glee kid. "Life Inside Out" 2013. Then magic happened with Billie and the DAW entering the scene. November 2015 = Ocean Eyes to Soundcloud.
@@HughJorgan1 I mean, that doesn't really mean anything though... I'm not saying Billie's songs are bad and I'm not saying Elvis's or Whitney's songs are good (I haven't listened to many of them so Idk), but quality and quantity are two different things. So having more songs doesn't mean much.
Trey Atkins...Good points. What I mean is that Elvis and Whitney wrote hardly any of their songs. The fact Billie has more...already...is amazing. For Elvis, he wrote only about half a dozen (out of the hundreds he put on albums) and I don’t think Whitney wrote a single one. They were both essentially singing karaoke their whole career. I have far more respect for artists that write their own music. That said, I’d like to hear Billie do some covers in the future. Her voice is phenomenal.

Beast Mode Not so much her voice because a lot of people have the ability to sing like that, but what she can do with it in regards of different melodies and different rhythms is awesome, it’s probably more accurate to say that she’s more skilled than talented 🤷🏽♂️
@Beast Mode I think her voice is talent tho i'm not actually a fan of all her tunes because i think the vocal style she currently chooses is only properly spotlighted on certain tunes - i think if she changed the compositions she worked to and mixed up vocal styles, the talent in her voice would be more immediately obvious. That's why i prefer listening to jam sessions of a singer like her rather than gig footage as it's a more natural portrayal of the voice.
Um... there are many many many people who can actually sing. Autotune is a newish technology, how do you think older artists recorded?! They harmonized with themselves with no autotune. It's not that big a deal. I've done it myself, often. Good for Billie.

If the Eilish's (edit: O'Connell's...thanks all for letting me know) are an example of anything, it's that the kids today are doing just fine.

Bedroom Artists/producers unite!
Newsflash:
This IS the studio 😜
It's the future of music
If you think this is real your live in a fantasy world.
